you’re right. Teddy roosevelt and richard nixon were the best on environmental issues than any other president to date. Bernie would have been great. With clinton, we will have to put continual pressure on her…also to not be so pro-abortion, but at the least try to create conditions in which women do not feel they have to have abortions.
#13 & #19

It seems to me that there are many different theories on the environment and I don’t think anyone, GOP or not, wants to ruin it. That sounds like a propaganda phrase. Not all people who value the environment are fanatics.
Voters have to go on what they know and understand, depending on their education and knowledge, not what the candidates do not know or do not want to know.

I’m assuming (perhaps wrongly) that no one wants to kill people willy nilly thru environmental harms. However, politicians (such as Cruz especially) take vast amounts of money from corps that greatly harm the environment to the effect of killing people, and those politicians and their ilk seem not to want to know about environmental issues…no matter how many times citizens write to them about these issues. Trump is just picking up their constituents, tho it does seem he is also truly anti-environmental himself, refusing to acknowledge any environmental problems, including climate change and the drought it California. It is just not wise to vote for such an ill-informed person…one whom it seems does not want to know the truth.

A politician’s lack of knowledge of problems does not mean those problems do not exist, and we voters have to vote for whom we consider the best pro-life candidates based on our knowledge, not theirs. To me from my knowledge gathered over 3 decades climate change (and other env problems and knock-on effects) is the mother of all pro-life issues…unless one’s strategy for ending abortion is just kill everyone. It would be good for people to read Pope Francis’s Laudato Si, which does a very marvelous and accurate job of explaining the serious, life-threatening environmental problems and their knock-on effect: w2.vatican.va/content/francesco/en/encyclicals/documents/papa-francesco_20150524_enciclica-laudato-si.html

Clinton, tho she has also taken money from anti-env corps and has done bad things, like promoting fracking in other countries, at least acknowledges the problems and seems amenable to addressing them…but will need to have constant pressure put on her (yeah for the Bernie campaign!!).

Couldn’t agree more, Bob.
Well, some people just can’t accept the idea that waterboarding is torture and going after families of terrorists is targeting noncombatants and calling out a judge because he ‘happens to be, we believe, Mexican’ is racism.

This is easy to understand. Not all of us are so prejudiced. I know that there is no such thing as “all Republicans”. There are varying degrees of opinions on the environment within the Republican Party. Not all Republicans oppose environmental initiatives, just like not all Democrats are pro-abortion, especially to the extent Hillary Clinton is.
Pro-choice is part of the DNA of the Democratic party. Being a Democrats means opting for the continuation of abortion mills, regardless of one’s own particular personal opinions on the subject.
There are varying degrees of opinions on the environment with the Republican party because there are different opinions on the best way to enhance the economy and preserve the environment, as well there ought to be on topics that are so inherently complicated.
There is no official Republican opinion, and many different competing interests at play. It is not the groupthink that is at play on the left, where the mantra is “The science has been settled”.

The dishonest part is where they use misleading euphemistic terms such as enhanced interrogation in an attempt to disguise the fact that they are torturing people in violation of international law.
Sort of like using the euphemistic term “reproductive health” or “women’s health care” to attempt to disguise the fact that they are funding the murder of children and the removal of choice.

Apparently you don’t understand that if you moved gitmo to ground zero and had an ecumenical prayers service at a mosque terrorists would cease to exist.

The sky is falling!

Divine Mercy

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. Things I trust more than Trump and Hilary:
  1. Flint Michigan tap water
  2. Investing with Bernie Madoff
  3. Cocktails with Bill Cosby
  4. An elevator ride with Ray Rice
  5. Casey Anthony’s day care.

Guess its time to post “the list” again:
RATIONALIZATIONS FOR VOTING FOR PRO-ABORTION POLITICIANS
  1. National Republicans aren’t “really” pro-life, so it’s okay if I vote for the virulently pro-abortion party.
  2. Specific candidate isn’t “really” pro-life, or I don’t believe his supposed change of belief, so it’s okay if I vote for the virulently pro-abortion party.
  3. My deacon/priest/bishop/cardinal told me or wrote me a letter telling me it was okay to vote for a virulently pro-abortion politician.
  4. I’m not a one-issue voter, so I can ignore the Church’s teaching and vote for the virulently pro-abortion politician.
  5. Republicans (at any level) have not passed enough pro-life laws (as decided by me), so I can vote for the political party that is virulently pro-abortion.
  6. Republicans (at any level) have not had enough success on pro-life issues (as decided by me), so I can vote for the political party that is virulently pro-abortion.
  7. Roe vs. Wade is still the law of the land even though most Supreme Court justices were appointed by the Republicans, therefore Republicans aren’t serious about abortion, so I can vote for the political party that is virulently pro-abortion.
  8. I found a Church document that mentioned proportionate reasons in voting, so I personally judged support for a higher minimum wage (or other social justice cause) was on equal footing with abortion, and I can vote for the political party that is virulently pro-abortion.
  9. I personally believe that Democratic policies will reduce abortions, so it is okay for me to vote for a virulently pro-abortion politician.
  10. We can’t do anything about abortion until we change the hearts and minds of the people, so it is okay for me to vote for a virulently pro-abortion politician.
  11. You can’t legislate morality, so it is okay for me to vote for a virulently pro-abortion politician.
  12. People will still have abortions even if you make them illegal, so it is okay for me to vote for a virulently pro-abortion politician.
  13. We can’t end abortion until we address the root causes, so it is okay for me to vote for a virulently pro-abortion politician.
  14. I can’t impose my beliefs on other people, so it is okay for me to vote for a virulently pro-abortion politician.
  15. There isn’t any difference between the parties, so it is okay for me to vote for the virulently pro-abortion party.
  16. The Pro-Life movement is in the tank for the Republican party (even though all pro-life legislation has had the overwhelming support of Republicans and overwhelming opposition from Democrats), so it’s okay for me to vote for the virulently pro-abortion party
  17. All people sin, so we’re all really “Cafeteria Catholics”, so it’s okay for me to vote for the virulently pro-abortion party.
  18. Dominionists attend GOP rallies so it is okay for me to vote for a virulently pro-abortion politician
  19. The Pope believe in Global warming, the Pro-life candidate does not so it is okay for me to vote for a virulently pro-abortion politician
#3… You don’t want the faithful to follow their own bishop?

So you are contenting that supporting the waterboarding of three terrorists is the moral equivalence of supporting the killing of over 50 million children? Can you show us where the Church explicitly sates this?

Even if one were to buy into the idea that Trump supports torture are they contending that 4 million people will be tortured to death during his regime? That he is going to require Nuns to actively support it?
If I vote for Hillary, she supports abortion then I would be supporting abortion.

If I vote for Trump who supports torture (and I’m not wanting to tell the Lord that I justify water boarding as light torture). I’d be supporting his agenda. He also hasn’t convinced me in being pro life. Not at all.

My conscious won’t let me vote for either. I am not understanding how Trump will be the savior of the unborn.

Nobody said Trump was the savior of the unborn. However he suggested Supreme Court nominees and stated desire to defund Planned Parenthood are two examples of how he would limit this evil. Trump also stated he would follow the law concerning torture . I would not want to tell the Lord and tell him that I allowed a viruntely pro abortion person to become president because I was afraid a few terrorists might get water boarded.

The truth is people questioningTrumps pro-life bona fides are usually those who claim to be be pro-life but are voting for Hillary or sitting the election out . Hillary Clinton, Planned Parenthood, Emily’s list et al are are running ads attacking Donald Trump as wanting to turn the clock back and restrict a woman’s right to an abortion . They evidently think he is really “pro-life”.

Probl m is they can never produce these alleged letters
Your #3… “My deacon/priest/bishop/cardinal told me or wrote me a letter telling me it was okay to vote for a virulently pro-abortion politician.”

Unless they voice recorded their superior at the time they were told it was okay, that may be one you may have to remove from your list.

It would be nice if they provided names of these bishops who encourage them to vote for rabidly pro-abortion politicians.
Bishops are public figures.
Just providing a name would be adequate.

Gee, what could possibly go wrong with that?

Did he say he would defund PP before or after he sent them a check. Before or after he said they good work. Did he say he didn’t believe in torture before or after the generals and CIA said they wouldn’t do that anymore? I think the word that describes him is ‘opportunist’. He’ll say whatever he has to say to win. Most people can see through this.

The bishops have provided us with Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship that provides Catholics. A careful reading will help the Catholic understand the issues that they should base their vote on. I recommend all Catholics read this document carefully and take into consideration the comments of various bishops in determining their vote instead of relying on the personal interpretation of Church teachings that various posters will provide.

yea, I know.

I am pretty sure that Estebob knows all about that too.

Then I suggest American Catholics avail themselves of the opportunity to use this Guide in determining how to vote in the upcoming election instead of relying on the personal interpretations of Church teaching that others may present on this site.
