Excommunication, by definition, removes someone from the Church. That’s what it means - removed from communion with the Church.They may be excommunicated, but they are still Catholic. Excommunication does not remove the seal of baptism.
It may be “force” by some definition of the word, but its not the kind of force that would ordinarily remove one’s culpability for engaging in murder.I’m not justifying anything.
I’m saying that it is force when someone is facing the loss of their job for not doing abortions.
If we have to choose between our careers and killing people, we all need to give up our careers even if it means getting a menial low-paying job. Would you agree with that?
The poor lady in this situation described here didn’t have much time to think about it. But I’m sure if her job started requiring this of her on a regular basis, she would leave the job. I’m sure God forgives her decision made in a hurry, but when we have time to stop and think, we need to be ready to put our faith first, and obey God before we obey our boss.
