I haven’t read the books but have seen the movies.

Not for me. When I was younger maybe but it didn’t really create or hold much interest across the different movies. I think being a British production (I assume) it brought something a little different from the Hollywood productions but I much preferred ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’.

UPDATE:
In a statement to the Catholic Information Agency, Archbishop Wojciech Polak, Poland’s Primate, said: “Books must not be burned but should be read so that one can debate their content in a critical manner.”

The late Father Gabriel Amorth CSSR (who was Rome’s Chief Exorcist for many years) criticized the Harry Potter books for distinguishing between “light” and “dark” magic. He argued that there is no distinction and all “magic” is inherently demonic. He had other concerns as well.

He was less critical of the movies however because they removed some of the more controversial parts from the books.

What could possibly be more Christian than a book about a secret pagan cult of witches that kidnaps children, puts them in a school run by a homosexual, encourages them to lie, and constantly throws 11-17 year olds into mortal danger?
… well when you put it like that…….

Of course! A total innocent, born in love and having taken upon himself the life of the evil one offers his life willingly to destroy the evil one to save humanity and from King’s Cross returns from the dead…and routs the evil one and his minions…

Nope. No Christian imagery there that I can see…

Perhaps folks might want to read it.
