The Pope himself (cited in post #31 above) wrote an Apostolic Letter, which I linked in an earlier post, describing these failures in detail, telling the Bishops to be more diligent in overseeing the activities of their charities…
I know. That is exactly why I said, “I am all for constant monitoring and calling Catholic charities into account.” Note that the papal letter stated that the bishops need to be diligent. Of course the laity can help by bringing awareness and information to light, but the oversight needs to be episcopal. That is what the Catholic news services claim happen. The AB there and two bishops here conferred and determined that the accusations were unfounded. If new information comes to light, I am confident they will respond accordingly.

Hmmm… too bad they caved… should’ve closed its doors. Better than providing for the murder of the unborn.
Different issue. The unions in NY catholic hospitals demanded that union employees be covered under a union health care plan that the diocese has no authority over. That plan covers contraceptives. The diocese caved to that union demand.

While one can criticize that decision, its not the same as CRS deciding to actively promote contraception with its own forces.
