Wrong question. The child WILL miss out on it, unless the Catholic parent kidnaps the child or goes behind the royal parent’s back against his or her express wishes (both of which actions violate the liberty of conscience which the document demands respect for).

The fact that the Church demands that these things be handled in a way which respects the freedom of conscience of the non-Catholic parent makes it the Church’s problem.

A problem, may I remind you, that St Monica resolved neither by going behind her husband’s back nor by forcing him to agree to her demands by nagging or threats, nor even repeated requests that I am aware of. Yeah, there’s more to that excerpt:

God is the ultimate judge of our actions. God alone knows our motives, knowledge, contrition, etc. Invincible ignorance does not mean a “free pass.” After all, imagine the utter grief and sadness that someone would experience when they realize , Imagine the pain of standing before the source of all love and realizing … There is no “free pass” based on invincible ignorance,** it would be better to know the truth and follow/live it**.

The fact is, due to reasons beyond one’s control (such as being raised in another religion, and living by that religions laws and rules), they CAN’T and DON’T know the Truth in order to follow/live it. Of course it would be "better"to know the truth, but in real life, that doesn’t always happen. That’s the point. We’re not (I’m not) talking about someone who knows, and believes and therefore should follow/life it. The person in question DOESN’T know.

Perhaps we should pray for the disestablishment of the Church of England, so that the British monarch would no longer be the head of the Church of England and the British monarch marry whoever he or she chooses (including a Catholic) and could be whatever faith he or she wanted to be – including Catholic.

Those of you who are British should work towards the disestablishment of the Church of England. After all, relatively few people in England attend Anglican services on a regular basis: more people in England attend Catholic Masses on a regular basis, or so I have read. Even secularists would be glad to have the Church of England be disestablished, I think.

It is true that in UK religion is not part of the fabric of society and that the biggest faith in the UK is the Catholic Church - by attendance numbers. The disestablishment would probably be welcomed by liberals, but the disestablishment of the Church of England would rent the UK political system apart. Don’t forget that there is a huge antidisestablishmentarianism movement in the UK - ie, people who want to keep things as they are.

I think that disestablishment will happen eventually, but not yet.
