This whole thing about children being transgender is a new, absolute low point in our culture. These poor kids, they have been mislead and confused by society. It’s abusive.

I dont see why the child has to be shunned or expelled. Embrace the child, but help them understand the truth. Help them understand it is a delusional disorder. It’s ok, and can be managed with help, kindness, and compassion.

However, when the disorder is imposed on others, that is when IT IS NOT OKAY!

completely agree. They have been led to believe that their problems will be fixed and their life happier if they either choose or change the sex they are.

The problem is, it doesn’t fix their lives or their problems, it only makes matters worse.

As you said, society has lied to them.

They need our prayers so very much. God did not make any mistakes when He created them. They are just being deceived.

I think the real question here is whether or not the school has any choice.

And that is the exact point, and the only point. There are non-Catholics, non-Christians and secularist “Catholics” here arguing that a Roman Catholic school must cave in to the transgender ideology. Their opinions and arguments are irrelevant, null and void.

 how is showing God’s love to anyone going against the 8th commandment, or any commandment for that matter?

This student did not “decide to become” transgender. He always was a boy, but a trans rather than cis boy because he was outwardly easily mistaken for a girl, so that his parents and doctor initially identified him as such.

Whether you believe the previous statement or not, it costs you and your child nothing to be polite and use the name and pronouns the student has requested.

Don’t you think some kids might cling to this idea as a lifeline?
Keeping in mind that kids are easily led to things that can harm them like gangs and cults because they’re looking for something to soothe.
There is plainly a need for careful evaluation. No doubt about that. We have no information about the extent of evaluation the person in the OP has undergone.
It’s amazing to me how we don’t let kids the age of the OP’s example drive the car or get married or run for office or even allow them to buy spray paint, but in this issue society selectively decides they know their own mind.
There is no medical purpose attached to driving a car or the other things you list. And there is not or should not be any hasty decision regarding a transgender evaluation. No doubt there are extremists who would say otherwise. But common sense and professional standard (should) dictate otherwise.

all I see is disagreement with the transgender party line.
There has been no presentation of “the transgender party line”, and no discussion of it. Nor any evidence that it (whatever it is) is at work in the the case presented in the OP.
Allowing people to do whatever they want is not love and compassion.
No one has suggested that it is.

I agree! If smoking pot is a mortal sin which is not forbidden in the Bible than certainly this is a sin. The Bible in Paul´s letters states a man should dress like a man and a woman like a woman. Homosexuality and transexuality is immoral!

If I have convinced myself I am a neurosurgeon, is it charitable to me to go along with my fantasy?
If you believe you are a neurosurgeon, or Napoleon Bonaparte, then that is a delusion. The person suffering gender dysphoria has no delusion - they see their body and clearly recognise what is there. But their brain cannot reconcile that reality with the self-image it paints. That causes distress, very severe in some cases. The challenge is how to help that person cope.

This young person’s biological sex has always been female. She was not outwardly mistaken for a girl, her biological attributes are those of a girl.

She was not “easily mistaken for a girl;” she is a girl.

Mentally, she “feels like” a boy. How does she know that? How does she know what it is like to feel like a boy?

Obviously there is a disconnect between the biological reality and the mental thought, which is the problem.

Straining the use of the English language by saying she was assigned a sex or easily mistaken to be a girl will not change the reality of the disconnect between her thoughts or perceptions of herself and the biological reality, nor will any amount of surgery or hormone use turn her into a boy/man.

Is it your view that none of them have a serious medical issue? They have somehow been misled and confused?

Help them understand it is a delusional disorder. It’s ok, and can be managed with help, kindness, and compassion.
They are in no doubt about their body and suffer no delusion. They can see their body! Do you not think parents and medical professionals have tried your prescription?

Yes, throughout the thread there have been those who felt it was unloving and compassionate to do anything other than what the school is doing.

I do not have an opinion on what the school is doing (except approval that they have said that private accommodations will be open to this student) as I do not think I have enough information, but I do not believe that just because one disagrees with what the school is doing (and the OP apparently has children who attend the school), that they are posting “hate,” as one poster put it.

God doesn’t call for us to “feel” good. He calls us to “be” good.
