Why it would be odd to still be on display? It is on display because it is absolutely cherished and revered by the people there, and many miracles have reportedly taken place. Just like other shrines.
Yeah, there a lot of cultural Catholic practices that seem strange until I learn more about the story behind them…And having a story behind it is very helpful.
The article I found stated that this particular piece is generally used only during advent and the end of the Easter season. But that’s Wikipedia for you. lolWhy it would be odd to still be on display?
Strange…I’m pretty sure it is on constant display. They even change his little cape and crown according to the liturgical colors and feast days. They would never just put him away in storage. Don’t trust Wikipedia on this one, lol. Maybe someone who knows or has been there can chime in.The article I found stated that this particular piece is generally used only during advent and the end of the Easter season. A lot of the ones post 1970 which look like an acid trip (note: I’ve never taken acid)perhaps confusing, or even annoying
It is from an era where breasts were the only way for babies to get fed, people were accustomed to seeing them used in this context, and bosoms were not popping out of every advertisement and billboard.I know I’m gonna get flack for this but in my opinion it’s just tasteless and too inappropriate
