I know I’m gonna get flack for this but in my opinion it’s just tasteless and too inappropriate

I already feel it. Someone is going to comment and tell me I’m wrong and that I should be ashamed because breastfeeding is natural.

Yeah it’s natural but idk I don’t wanna see Jesus painted eating a bowl of Wheaties either

And seeing Mary’s nipple is just really weird

I know that in a breastfeeding context it isn’t sexual

But idk it’s still an erogenous zone

Please don’t comment on this if you’re gonna tell me I’m wrong it’s just my opinion

this is the first time i have ever seen a breast feeding Mary! i didn’t notice it at first. i agree, it seems inappropriate.

while watching an episode of Father Brown once, i could have sworn there was a painting of the image on the right they had snuck in the scene in the background.
it was hanging in a vestibule. i was thinking to myself, “that looks like the painting from Spain the elderly woman had tried to fix”.

for some reasons, i don’ care for these modern renditions. i could see this in a book or a children’s Bible depicting the scripture of Mary and Elizabeth, but i wouldn’t want it hanging on a wall in my home.
 
Lean your head that far back and take a photo. LOL it’s probably not too far off. Plus she’s been caught mid-laugh/mid-exclamation, which makes me think it was drawn from actual people in that pose.

the images of breast feeding Mary that were posted in a group.
 
There was a group post of them? 🤔 I only saw the first one posted and then the last one with the vision from the Saint.
 
Just google breastfeeding Virgin Mary to see lots of paintings with this theme. In my view they are lovely.
 
Yes, I agree…I think it can be lovely to ponder that special, intimate relationship between Mary and baby Jesus. Only a breast-feeding mother can really understand what that relationship is like. It’s silly for others to say such paintings are inappropriate. It is a part of our Lord’s life and it brings such dignity to mothers everywhere who are able to provide for their babies in that way.
