She advocates women priests, which is impossible. .
A lot of things, once thought to be impossible, are in fact happening today in the Catholic Church. Puppet Masses, clown Masses, Communion in the hand, easy to get marriage annulments, Communion services led by women, doing away with limbo, a Pope kissing the Koran, half naked women serving at a papal Mass, Hindhus praying to their deities in a Catholic Church, etc.
So just by saying something is impossible, does not guarantee that it won’t happen sometime in the future.

One thing we can be sure of is that there will never be “priestesses”.
Those other abuses dont fall into the category of Faith and Morals, but the non-issue of "priestesses" sure does. The abuses cause scandal, though, and i wouldnt like to be in the boots of the perpretrators when they face our Lord.
Getting rid of Archbishop Marini was a good move.
The present pope is moving forward on a lot of fronts.

I think that the problem with Sister is that she wants Church to reflect the world while I think that most believers want a transcendent Church. Excommunication is a bit harsh. Every family has a wacky aunt or uncle.

This woman fully embraces this age, and wants to imbue it with a certain sense of permanence. Imagine this nun in Russia, right after the Bolshevik revolution, embracing communism as the new ideological reality and prodding the Russian Orthodox Church to adapt in order to remain relevant. So what is the lesson here? Communism has dissolved while the Russian Orthodox Church remains as fundamentally intact as it was was in the times before the emergence of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin. The New World Order will also pass, but the Roman Catholic Church will also remain fundamentally intact. This woman is a heretic who is attempting to draw the faithful away from the teachings of Holy Mother Church. She would be better suited in the role of a contributor to the United Nations and its strange attempt at melding all metaphysical matter into a new global religion. Better yet, she can preside at a ceremony in the modern Stonehenge, called St. John the Divine in New York City, alongside a yogic master, a white witch and a neopagan shaman engaged in some esoteric New Age ritual. I actually think she would be happier in such a role.

If most believers want a transcendent Church, then why are we seeing clown Masses, puppet Masses, mariachi band Masses, Communion in the hand, swaying to and fro to the folk music during Mass, etc.?

In this article Chittister worships Change for the sake of Change as some sort of metaphysical fetish; in this sense she sounds exactly like an early 20th century fascist. In other writings she’s spoken in glowing terms of Mary Daly, who can only be described as a hateful anti-male (and anti-female) bigot. “Priestesses” with these same autocratic yuppie modernist attitudes are part of why I left the Episcopal church. The prevalence of these attitudes in the Catholic church (or at least the human element of the church) is why I’m not sure if I want to officially become Catholic.

That is not the opinion of many Catholic theololgians today.
And some of whom are already treading on dangerous waters. Female priests it certainly not something supported by the Church’s greatest living theologian: the former Joseph Ratzinger who now happens to be Pope Benedict XVI.

But there is a question as to whether or not this is an infallible teaching. The teaching on limbo has been changed, so why can’t other teachings be changed also. The teaching on the filioque has been changed, and as well: torture, slavery, women teaching in Church, Communion in the Hand, puppet Masses, clown Masses, etc.

The teaching on Filoque has not been changed by the Latin Rite, so, your line of reasoning is not necessarily correct.

I may be wrong but as far as I know the Church has always condemned slavery; certainly in AD 1435 the Pope decreed that slave-traffickers needed to promptly repent and free those they’d enslaved, or be under automatic excommunication:

As for limbo, as far as I know that was a theological opinion, not a doctrine or dogma.

Regarding Women’s “ordination,” the Church’s teaching has been declared as infallible dogma by the ordinary and universal Magisterium:

The Church can’t ordain a woman to the priesthood any more than she can ordain an asparagus to the priesthood. The fact that some Catholics are still making the same tired old arguments to the contrary is just silly.

It was once taught that it was wrong to omit the filioque from the creed; It is now taught that it is OK to omit the filioque from the creed.

In the early Church St. Paul taught that slaves should be subject to their masters. In the Council of Gangra excommunicated anyone telling a slave to despise his master or withdraw from his service.

“The do it yourself Mass is ended. Go in peace.”

“Rome has spoken.”

By whom?
This is dogma, and cannot be rejected. Dont take any notice of the boneheaded "Catholic" theologians who reject the Churchs teachings on Faith and Morals; they don`t count. That includes the ones who argue for “priestesses”.
Among other things, the Church is the Bride of Christ. In the Mass and in Holy Communion, the Bridegroom gives Life to His Bride in the Marital Embrace. The priest takes the place of Christ. A woman CANNOT take the place of a man in that. At least one person has referred to the antics of “priestesses” as “liturgical lesbianism”.
Ultimately, the truth and beauty of the nature of the Church, the meaning of marriage and family life, and everything else, flow from the inner Life of The Blessed Trinity. ETERNAL.

For priestly ordination to be valid, an adult MALE is required. As Alex said: “The Church can`t ordain a woman to the priesthood any more than she can ordain an asparagus to the priesthood.”. Or a jackass, or a donkey!

Man gives us Fatherhood.
Woman gives us Motherhood.
Its a fruitful combination. Any other "combination" isnt fruitful, but destructive. The word “diabolic” comes from a word which means “to tear apart”.

Yes, in the west, in both the EF and the OF, the filioque is still said in the creed.
However, in the Eastern rites and in fact in a few (limited number of) recent papal Masses, the filioque is omitted from the creed.

Isn’t this the same “nun” who was working as an abortion clinic escort? If not, I apologize.

Anyway, I am disgusted by what this woman has said and she definitely needs some kind of disciplinary action taken in order to save her soul. Lord, have mercy on us all! :crossrc:

How dare you compare woman to an asparagus! Woman, like Man, is made in the image and likeness of God. No more so, no less so. Through Baptism, woman, also like man, is re-configured to the image of Christ. No more so, no less so. An asparagus merely glorifies God through the beauty of its natural creation and serves to provide us with food. The fact that you would make this analogy is just sickening. The fact that another poster would further compare woman to a jackass is worse.

ChemicalBean, I would like to appreciate your post better. Is it your belief that the Catholic Church should ordain women?

As I read ther reply in question, there is no comparison of a woman to an asparagus.

It is not surprising that any person who supports women’s ordination or the sister in question, or that sister’s views, would want to “explode” the point raised. To me The point was to illuminate the reality of the lack of any probability that a woman would be ordained to the sacremental priesthood and not to compare a woman to asparagus or a donkey. I think a different analogy would have been better, but the reality is correctly communicated. Women will not be receiving “Holy Orders” in the Roman Catholic Church.

To any who support the ordination of women, I would suggest you ask God about it and then decide, if you think the Church is not hearing God, then leave the Roman Catholic Church. Go join a church that teaches what you want to hear. There is a point to which “tolerance” hits the breaking point and I wish Church leaders would decide to deal with those teaching out and out heresy.

It is clear from the teaching of the Church that to support abortion is wrong and to give scandal to the Church by being an escort at a Planned Parenthood definitely crosses that line. To continue in that action indicates out and out rebellion and ought not be tolerated.
