In recent days, there have been several lively discussions on CQ referring to Biblical interpretation, and prophecy in particular. I have to say, first of all, that this kind of discussion poses challenges in moderating, as quite frankly, there's just so much there. The article above, which admittedly is kind of lengthy, provides some good points of departure.
I do remind commentators that long, involved essays are not really what we are looking for here on CQ. For those who want to engage in extended commentaries, there are sites that offer such a forum, Substack being one of them. I don't want to denigrate anyone's sincere efforts, but there is such a thing as "gish-galloping", throwing so much out there that it actually discourages reading or discussion. The modern online colloquialism "TLDR" ("too long, didn't read") seems to apply here. So far, I have not established caps on the number of words permitted in a single post, nor a cap on posts by a single commentator in a thread, but both of those things are options.
Finally, I advise great caution in going outside the traditional teachings of the Church and the analogia fidei (analogy of faith). Protestantism has splintered out into more denominations than can be counted, because each believer sees himself or herself as being guided by the Holy Spirit. This has led to many, many aberrations, some of them very harmful, such as handling of serpents, drinking poison, and maiming oneself to remove temptation to sin. What is even more harmful is when someone is led out of the bosom of the Church. Our Lord established one Church that will endure to the end of time, the gates of Hell will not prevail against her.
Thanks to everyone for your good participation.
