Would throwing then out proive anything? Would it help them find their way back to truth of life. Will it stop them?
No, No, and No. To be honest. Yes they are violating morals, but we need to help them, not cast them out.
The purpose of excommunication is a last ditch effort by the Church to save the soul of the individual. The hope is that realizing that he is separated from the sacraments will repent and return to the Church. It is like sending a naught child from the table for bad behavior, he is ashamed and sooner or later hungry. He apologizes because he wants to return to the family and he wants to eat. Hopefully an excommunicant will be sorrowed by being separated from the community and will hunger for the sacraments. If he does not miss and long for the sacraments he has worse problems than excommunication to worry about.

By the way that was an illustration of a point, not a confession of an actual crime. Please don’t misunderstand.
I didnt think you were confessing a crime but also dontthik yur analogy had anything to do with what we are talking about.

The point was to refute the leader saying, that because she had not been excommunicated, it was okay to be catholic and pro choice. My statement was an illustration of her flawed and absurd logic. i.e. its okay to violate rules of a group because you haven’t (yet) been removed from the group. Sorry, I should have been more clear.

Traditionally the Democrat party has been the party of the “little man.”
…
And traditionally the Republican party has been the party of “no government interference with personal choice.”
Traditionally, the Democrats have been the party of slavery and Jim Crowism, which were predicated in part on denying the humanity of a class of people. Traditionally, the Republican party was the party that opposed slavery. That today the Democrats deny the humanity and rights of the unborn is right in line with their past; likewise, the GOP’s stance against abortion.

And Catholics for Choice is a travesty. It is all but a one-woman operation working in direct opposition to Church teaching.

My question: If the Catholic Church is so Pro-Life, why the hck aren’t all these Pro-Aborts being excommunicated? Don’t you believe in keeping your congregation clean and free from apostacy?
Anyone who supports or procures abortion automatically excommunicates himself from the Church. This is Church law, and no further action by the Church is necessary to affect the excommunication.

Well, obviously being Catholic hasn’t made them any more moral than the worldly people who sacrifice their own children’s lives for the sake of their own selfishness. The Catholic Church should excommunicate anyone who actively participates in the evil of the world. Christians are called to be seperate from the world, so these pro-aborts cannot be considered Christian.

I don’t understand why every member of this group is not excommunicated. I always wondered why women who had abortions faced excommunication while the members of this group get away with doing what they do.

The Vatican should step up to the plate and excommunite every member of this group. What if a group called “Catholics for Satan” came around?

I beleive there is one member of the group-the director

Seeing that satan delights in destroying children, there’s really no difference.

Luther was excommunicated for doing far less than advocating the murder of children. Why are pro-aborts allowed to stay in your church and take communion?

Irrelevant.

How is it irrelevant? Luther acted against Catholic teaching and was booted out. Pro-aborts who are Catholic do the same thing. Why shouldn’t they be excommunicated???

Because “pro-choice” is not the same thing as “pro-abortion.” One can be in favor of the legality of abortion but still abhor the act.

Are you being deliberately obtuse?

One last time: Anyone who supports or procures abortion automatically excommunicates himself from the Church. This is Church law, and no further action by the Church is necessary to affect the excommunication.

Yes, it is the same thing, and one cannot “be in favor of the legality of abortion” and still be a Catholic who adheres faithfully to Church teaching.

Nonsense. One who claims to be pro-choice is supporting the right of women to kill their children. You seem top believe that you can somehow jusitfy your support of this by claiming you are not in favor of killing your own child.

I think cardinal Arinze said it very well: youtube.com/watch?v=kv3MRyKfEHA

Pure logic disagrees with the practice. It is the same as saying that i don’t agree with Nazis but they have their own freedom of opinion. Nazis don’t have a freedom of opinion period.

Correct. And for those who say they oppose abortion but think its ok to vote for pro-abortion politicians its akin to saying "lets punish those who run ran the gas chambers but not those who paid then to do it.

That is like saying that you are in favor of the legality of genicide or murder, while you abhor the act.

Pro-choice is pro-abortion. There are only two options life and death. If one is not pro-life, one is by default pro-death.

If they abhor it, then they wouldn’t support keeping it legal.

“I’m against murder, but I’m not going to take away your right to commit murder.”
