Mosacked,

Scripture must be read in context of both the O.T. and the N.T. I would encourage you to start by reading the entire New Testament.

You are taking 1 John 2:27 entirely out of context. This passage is a warning against false teachings of the antichrist:

The Holy Spirit does teach all things and bring to remembrance all that Christ spoke to his Apostles. That does not mean that no teachers are required.

The Apostles taught the message of Christ. and “many of those who had heard the word believed.”

The Apostles were freed from prison by an angel of the Lord, who said, “Go and stand in the temple and speak to the people all the words of this Life.” When the Apostles heard this, “they entered the temple at daybreak and began to teach.”

There were prophets and teachers in the Church at Antioch.

Timothy was sent to remind the Church of the ways of Christ, as taught in every Church.

The Body of Christ has many members, including “teachers.”

Continued Next Post
Anna, for WHOM, are these teachers for?

The anointed ones?

If you are anointed by God and the Holy Spirit rests upon you, do you have need for a human teacher?.

That “context” that you’ve quoted shows an instance of the application of the counselor, not its only application. If I tell you ‘Anna, you don’t need that dirt bike, I just bought you a car!’…do you then say that you should only take the car in replacement for the dirt bike or do you say that hence you can take the car EVERYWHERE you go?
  • Once you have the Spirit, you need no teachers.

Continued----To Mosacked

Again–please read these passages in the context of the entire N.T.–which means you do actually have to read the N.T. 😉

A warning against “teaching any different doctrine,” and against wandering into “vain discussion.” (Very appropriate for this Thread) 🤷

An “overseer” must be able to teach.

More on teaching.

The “Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach. .”

More on teaching.

With all due respect, Mosacked, I have to ask: Have you read anything in the New Testament, besides 1 John 2:27?

Denying the call to “teach” the Gospel of Christ is in opposition to the very words of the New Testament. We do, indeed, need teachers.

Anna
Anna,

believe me when I tell you that human teachers will bring you to ruin.

If you are taught by another human it only means one of 2 things or both.

1 - You lost contact with God and needed this person to tell you. (eg. David by Nathan)
2 - You have been deceived and not speaking to God.

The problem is the SAME…your communication with God is not working. And whether or not this person is indeed conveying messages from God is a total unknown.

John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Why mosacked, are you attempting to “teach” Anna?
  1. Sure sounds like you have lost contact with God and are in need of someone to tell you. (i.e. Lapey and company to mosacked)
  2. You are trying to deceive Anna, just as you have been deceived, and thus you are no longer speaking to God.
If her problem is that her communication with God is not working, which form of communication should Anna try next? There are tens of thousands of “Holy Spirit lead Bible Churches” preaching some of the same ideas you are here to preach. Which method of communication is the right one so that the Lord will hear Anna?

The use of sacred scripture in the manner in which you do is a sacrilege! That verse means nothing about not having a need to learn. No where in Church history is it written that one has all he needs because the Spirit has given all knowledge. That is ridiculous.

So if I am hearing you correctly, all I have to do is hold the bible up to my head and all knowledge necessary will automatically transfer, like a Bluetooth transfer, to my brain and soul.

I’ll ask another way. If you are in a church, non denom of course, do you want a pastor up there preaching who has had no formal training? If his only training is what he read and interpreted on his own, how is that Spirit filled and lead? It’s not it is man lead, just as your mislead interpretations of this and many bible verses.

As was stated many times before, Jesus has paid in full the price of our salvation. There is nothing we can do on our own to save ourselves. He set up A Church in which His Grace flows, it is up to us to accept it fully. It is our choice to deny this grace. I choose to accept His saving Grace 100%. To do that I need to understand the truth presented to the ones who walked with Christ, the Apostles. They and their successors have been teaching the faith ever since the great Sacrifice Jesus performed for me and you.

In order to see the truth you need to get out of the way and then the truth will set you free!!! As long as you hold on to the reins and don’t allow the Spirit to teach you through His teachers, you will continue to walk in the darkness.

Come into the light brother, His truth is calling you!

Mosacked,

You are twisting Holy Scripture into your personal deceptive interpretation, and you are trying to pull others down with you. I won’t be jumping on that train.

There is little I can do for you at this point, other than to pray.

Lapey,

What you say is true.

My own disenchantment with the Protestant world grows by the hour. One could easily drown in the Protestant sea of voices.

Mosacked’s posts contain so much deception; they only push me farther away from Protestantism. That is very sad.

My dear sister Anna, there is no need to be sad. Only good can come out of your disenchantment.

Look for the truth in His word, and you shall find the truth in Him, and He will lead you home in His Church! There He stands waiting with open arms, singing with one voice, for His daughter has returned!!!

So, Mosacked… all of the Corinthians, Ephesians, Colossians, Phillippians, etc. that Paul was writing to were all among the uninformed and unenlightened?

The Apostle Paul disagrees with you. He refers to them as “bretheren” and “saints.”

mosacked:

Since we ( all Churches ) are wrong, I would like to ask you: When are you going to start your church and how many adherants do you have? The way you are going, you are descending deep and deeper into heresy. Forgive him Lord for he knows not what he says or does, and we pray that the Holy Spirit will guide him to the truth.

The answers to your questions is No. You must hold the fundamental beliefs and be in a state of grace to receive the saving effects of the sacraments. God will let you know when you are in a state of grace. After confessing your sins and are totaly contrite of heart you will feel an overwhelming feeling of peace and joy. That is Saving Grace. For those that receive the sacraments unworthily, they commit a sacrelige, which is a mortal sin. If a person commits a mortal sin and does not confess and ask forgiveness and then dies, that person condemns Him/herself to hell ( God does not condemn us, we do ). I hope this helps. God bless.

Thank you Javl.

It is nice to finally come across someone on this board that will read a full message before responding and give a truthful answer bound in love and not with a sense of “If you were Catholic”. After being on the posts for the last few days, I was starting to reconsider my desire to look into RCIA based upon how some people have treated non-Catholics.

Lutherans believe much the same in that if someone goes to the Lord’s Supper that has not confessed their sins, then they are in sin and have condemned themselves. Although we also believe that through the grace of Jesus and his death upon the Cross, we are saved and forgiven (that does not mean that we do not have to confess though).

Blessings.

Why do you continue to avoid my direct question to you?

Is Jesus God? Is Mary his mother? Are you a Christian or are you a Nestorian?

.

obviously Jesus is talking to the Apostles and not to you. you cant pick up a Bible 2000 yrs later and think that this verse is refering to you.

remembrance the HS is to remind the Apostles the teachings of Jesus. were you one of the Apostles who was tought by Jesus at that time and needed to be reminded?

Sadly indeed Anna. When dealing with the likes of Mosacked never expect a direct answer to your questions. The reason, they simply do not have an answer. All they can say in regards to a reply is what they are feeling at the present time. Since they reject the infallible teaching authority of the Church most of them go from congregation to congregation trying to find a fallible interpreter of scriptures to “tickle their ears.” Then, after not hearing what they want to hear, they eventually retreat into their own private world and attempt to interpret scriptures on their own, a daunting task to say the least. They have painted themselves into a prideful corner and do not have a way out. They are to be prayed for.
Tjanks Ana Ant I will keep pray for him/her

no offence? you have got to be the single most, hateful fundamentalist ive ever met. just going by what youve posted on other threads. you have very little knowlege of the Catholic faith, and i even question if you have the Spirit of Christ in you, as proud and arrogant as you are. i think you should do some serious self examination to see if you are in the the body of Christ. does your pastor teach you to spew your venom. how dare you compare the Blessed Mother to a monkey! you do not even deserve an answere to anything. i for one will not cast my pearls before… well you know.:slapfight:
Speaking about “hateful fundamentalist”?

"I don’t see things your way, so I won’t answer your question!..poop! "

Thank you Jamie. Yes, Lutherans and Catholics have a lot in common. When you start RCIA classes you will find this to be so. One word of warning though, in the RCIA class DO NOT take “because I said so” or “it’s always been like that” as an answer to any of your questions. The conductor of the class should be well grounded in scripture and the history of the Church. God Bless and I hope that you’ll be on the Tiber swim team.

Sad to say this is exactly how many of the cults have been started. Read the histories of the beginnings of the Jehovahs Witnesses, Christian Science, Latter Day Saints, The Way, etc. Each originator thought that he/she knew better than the Theologians, Scholars, etc. and in so doing sank deeper and deeper into heresy. Have mercy on them Lord and show them the light of Your Truth, for they know not what they do.

crowtherkid(name removed by moderator),

Sometimes you have to read several pages of Posts to get a sense of how the discussion has progressed.

I’m Protestant, and I am exhausted by the persistent, disturbing posts by my own Protestant Brethren. I think the Catholic Forum Members have been very patient, considering all that has been said on this Thread.

I wish you all the best in RCIA. I may eventually head that direction myself. One never knows. 😉

ralphinal,

I’m surprised that anyone would be following my posts, in particular. I appreciate your words of encouragement.

Catholic forum members have shown such kindness to me. I haven’t said anything to earn this kindness. I am really quite touched by it.

I’m sure you can tell from my posts that I am struggling in the Protestant sector. As I said before, sometimes I feel like I am drowning in a sea of Protestant voices.

I come to the forums, each day, looking for stable ground. Surprisingly, I usually find that stable ground through my Catholic friends, here—and a few Orthodox Christians, as well.

I am praying that God will reveal His truth to me. I continue to study. I want to find my place in the Christian world. I just haven’t quite figured it out yet.

Thank you,
Anna
