Episcopalian…hope I spelled that right.
Possum Lodge Motto…James,
If you joined the Orthodox church of Planet OP, I’d join it, too.
Or, the Possum Lodge. :jrbirdman:
Jon
**Its a Protestant planet. There are no Orthodox.![]()
Yea - I probably should have used one of these ===I’m sorry, James. I didn’t know you were ribbing me earlier. So much can be lost in text!
That said,…
Through the door of course…How do I get into the Possum Lodge?
“Dear Lord, would that Your Church on Earth be reconciled and reunited with all who have fallen away. And when I say “fallen away,” I mean everyone in the world, and when I say “Your Church” I mean, uh… me?”Actually as a professed Catholic…be me the only one on the planet…
The Catholic Church would still exist on this Protestant planet, albeit if just one member…like just bringing things closer to home…if one catholic was remaining in Spokane, WA, the Church would still exist.
I would participate in any existing prayer and Bible study, and works of serving the Lord…but for worship, I would probably use my own sources, the MIssalette and Liturgy of the Hours with spiritual communion…and pray for my separated brethren’s disunity…to be in communion with me some day.
Hmmm…I’m not sure which I would choose, but the criterion would include:
-Definitely not radically conservative, but definitely not radically liberal either.
-Lots of clapping, “Praise Jesus!” and “Hallelujah” during service!
-Everyone is “brother” and “sister”
-Interactive community
-Lots of music
-No fire and brimstone
-Doing all of this while not being completely hippie/new-age.
Which one would that fit into (if any)?
Its a Protestant planet. There are no pagans. Except you. Unless you want to be the lone pagan, and keep paganism alive. Since KathleenGee is already going to be the lone Catholic so there will be the Catholic Church, and James and JonNC will keep the Orthodox in business…might as well have pagans.I think I would side with Chesterton: if leaving Catholicism, become a pagan.
Anglican if not… Lutheran-the conservative side. No liberal nonsense!Toooo much combative anti-protestant tone in the threads here, lately.
So in an attempt to lighten the mood and change the tone, can I ask you a question, just for fun?
If you HAD to belong to a Protestant denomination, which one would you choose?
This is a HYPOTHETICAL scenario just for FUN. Please no “I woudn’t choose any, because…(insert anti-protestant rhetoric here)…” . Please no arguments about “Why would you choose such-and-such when they are so (insert anti suchandsuch rhetoric here)”. Please? I know we can do this without bickeringYes, we can. Can so. Can so…
Ok let me start. I would choose the WELS Lutheran church.
How about you?
ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL!!!Possum Lodge continues to use pseudo-Latin in their services (quando omni flunkus moritati - “when all else fails, play dead”) post-Vatican2.
!!! You guys are killin me here!!! I haven’t laughed OUT LOUD at text on a screen in a looooong time, let alone this hard!!! Thanks for the entertainment! Best thread ever! Now the other choice would be obvious. I would claim a vision, get a Helmet, tell everyone that they were wrong and that fortunately I was able to speak to God the Father, God the Son and a couple of other guys…I was given Platinum Plates…, wear the helmet on my face and when I did, I would speak and people would write a book of Nomrom, they have already heard the gold plate thing…Trek across the planet claiming that I was a Prophet and then start the Church of Nomrom:yeah_me:
…I would proclaim myself as the leader, take a bunch of wives, at least 12, :dancing:
and set up 11 Apostles…and say there was no need for the 12th because after I die I will fill the 12th seat and they can then continue waiting for my returnopcorn:
…pretty good, Huh…:extrahappy:
I think I know what you mean. I have been to a few as well that were very “spiky” (HIGH HIGH church lol) .I would say probably Anglican. I started out that way (before I converted), and attending the old-style Anglican High Mass is in some respects more Catholic than what you get in a lot of Catholic Churches these days. I’ve been to Lutheran Churches too, so I could see that being a popular choice as well.

First to answer this! A gong should sound or something…I think I would side with Chesterton: if leaving Catholicism, become a pagan.
