Catholics, if you found yourself on an all-Protestant planet, what would your church choice be?

I don’t know about myself but I know a lotta guys who’d pick Mormon for… obvious reasons. :rolleyes:
 
I’m not sure which I would choose, but the criterion would include:

-Definitely not radically conservative, but definitely not radically liberal either.
-Lots of clapping, “Praise Jesus!” and “Hallelujah” during service!
-Everyone is “brother” and “sister”
-Interactive community
-Lots of music
-No fire and brimstone
-Doing all of this while not being completely hippie/new-age.

Which one would that fit into (if any)?

The Catholic Church would still exist on this Protestant planet, albeit if just one member…like just bringing things closer to home…if one catholic was remaining in Spokane, WA, the Church would still exist.

I would participate in any existing prayer and Bible study, and works of serving the Lord…but for worship, I would probably use my own sources, the MIssalette and Liturgy of the Hours with spiritual communion…and pray for my separated brethren’s disunity…to be in communion with me some day.

Are Rob Bell (Mars Hill) and Bobby Schuller (Tree of Life) what you’re looking for or are they still too out-there for you?
 
If it were an all-protestant planet I’d do what all of us are obligated to do.

Build a Catholic Church.
 
Exactly…know about that Mars Hill…

It all gets down to what Our Lord wants…His Catholic/Universal Church to interpret Scripture and to provide us His life in Word and Flesh.

This is Ecclesia…Yes…if just one Catholic still exists in any given place, the Church still does exist.

Many Catholics do not themselves understand the nature and mission of the Church, including myself, until I was given more education on this.
 
I think I would side with Chesterton: if leaving Catholicism, become a pagan.

Its a Protestant planet. There are no pagans. Except you. Unless you want to be the lone pagan, and keep paganism alive. Since KathleenGee is already going to be the lone Catholic so there will be the Catholic Church, and James and JonNC will keep the Orthodox in business…might as well have pagans. 😃
 
I, of course would not have a problem, but bu the same token if I was on a planet if I had a choice between some sort of a Protestant Church and the Roman Catholic Church, then the logical choice would be Rome since there is a lot that I can agree with.

I started out that way (before I converted), and attending the old-style Anglican High Mass is in some respects more Catholic than what you get in a lot of Catholic Churches these days. I’ve been to Lutheran Churches too, so I could see that being a popular choice as well.

I think I know what you mean. I have been to a few as well that were very “spiky” (HIGH HIGH church lol) .
