I believe in remnant theology. Every human being is either united to Adam or the 2nd Adam (Rom 5). All that matters is being a new creation in Christ!
Amen to that my dear brother in Christ. Too bad there isn’t more love shown and I agree with you 100%. God Bless you in you journey with our Lord:thumbsup:

That’s a tough one. I don’t see that the Apostles to be Catholic when I read their writings. Therefore, if God used men like Paul, Matthew, John, James, etc, then I simply see sinners saved by grace to the praise of His glorious grace. [SIGN]I do not see Mary, James, or Peter to be Catholic[/SIGN], and Paul to be Protestant.
Oh, Okay…? So let me get this right. Jesus was Catholic, now this we know because Paul was persecuting the CC, and Jesus told Paul why are you persecuting me.

So Jesus Christ was Catholic, but his Mother Mary wasn’t:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: And all of the Apostles were not either:bigyikes::rotfl: Oh Adam you out did yourself on this one:D

And you know this because?
Because Adam can’t seem to acknowledge that God gave his Holy Spirit to the
the early Church Fathers, who passed on all of what Christ taught through the Apostles to be finally written down in what the Church calls the Bible. Carlan

Jesus could not have been Catholic since the Catholic Church is only 2,000 years old. Jesus said, before Abraham… I am.

All Christians who are united to Christ have God the Holy Spirit dwelling in them.

1 Corinthians 3:16
Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?

1 Corinthians 6:19
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own,

2 Cor 13
Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test! I hope you will find out that we have not failed the test

Colossians 1:27
To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

I Will Put My Spirit Within You - Ezekel 36

22 “Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: It is not for your sake, O house of Israel, that I am about to act, but for the sake of my holy name, which you have profaned among the nations to which you came. 23 And I will vindicate the holiness of my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, and which you have profaned among them. And the nations will know that I am the Lord, declares the Lord God, when through you I vindicate my holiness before their eyes. 24 I will take you from the nations and gather you from all the countries and bring you into your own land. 25 I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. 26 And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules. [1] 28 You shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers, and you shall be my people, and I will be your God.

. It’s a juggling act to contend for the faith and keeping the unity of the Spirit. :juggle::juggle::juggle: If we make all of our theological distinctives as lines in the sand, we cannot ever move forward in Christian unity.
2nd, you are creating false dichotomies and drawing false conclusions based upon false premises.

It is not a “juggling act” to contend for the faith. It is our duty. God does not command us to “juggle”. That is silly.

In any case, it is not our fulfillment of our duty that creates unity, or not. The Spirit is what creates unity. Unity, as you have been previously advised, is based upon adherance to the Truth. We are all in unity to the extent we are each one in unity with the Truth.

Your smokescreen of “theological distinctives” is merely a human construct. There are no such “distinctives” in the Truth. In fact, the Truth does have a line in the sand, and people do stand outside of it, many do so because of their attachments to their “theological distinctives.”

The only way we can move ourselves toward unity is to move ourselves closer to Him who is all Truth. In doing this, we will automatically be in unity with one another.

The Bible comes from God; it is God-breahed revelation!
No, 2nd. You have just re-iterated your ignorance in this regard. The Holy Scriptures are God-Breathed revelation.

The Bible is a God-breathed collection, assembled by the God Breathed Church, of those Scriptures. You really can’t expect anyone here to take your seriously as long as you spout such drivel.

The Bible was assembled by the Catholic Church.
Code:
I used to wonder why God allows division and false teaching in the universal church. We all know God has the power and ability to create perfect unity here on Earth if He wanted to. But in His infinite wisdom, division is allowed for His divine purpose and our good.
He allows division so that the truth might become more clear. Pretending that the division does not exist is not consistent with the Word of God.
It is through our struggles, suffering, and personal trials… that He grows us up in Christ.
This is true, but it has nothing to do with the “doctrinal distinctives” that you are trying to minimize. Unless of course you are personally struggling with the suffering that comes from the knowledge that the Catholic Church created the Bible.
Because we are not completely redeemed here on earth, we will always know in part and believe in something that is not true.
This a lame excuse for rejecting truth that God has revealed throguh His Body, the Church
Code:
If you find yourself glorifying God with greater capacity as a Catholic Christian… praise God. If you find yourself glorifying God with greater capacity as a Protestant Christian… praise God. For those who are united to Christ, we are truly one body.
It seems like you are willing to ignore the factions that exist for the purpose of making the Truth more clear. This would indicate that you are not really interested in Truth.

The God breathed church are those who have been granted new life in Christ. God breathed life into the walking dead men. He gave life to individuals and not a particluar religious institution.

Ephesians 2

And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Tweety, it is not loving to confirm others in error. You claim to be Catholic, so look over the ways that Catholics can contribute to the sins of others. One of them is to sit by and say nothing when wrong is done.

Better yet, listen to Fr. Corapi’s talk on this point. 😃
And you know this because?
He avoids the Truth.

I agree. this does not prevent them from falling into doctrinal errors.

Yes, I agree. However, He also created a visible Church, with visible authority, and commanded that differences should be settled by the authority He appointed. this Body, His Church, is not to be separated from the Holy Scriptures produced by it. You started this thread a a method of exhorting Catholics to read their bibles more. What you have discovered is that Catholics do not read scripture in isolation from the Sacred Tradition that produced it. You reject the Word of God that lives in the Church, and by that rejection, you bring separation.

I do not think Adam avoids the truth! And I don’t feel that he is wrong! I am a Christian first and A Catholic. I don’t claim anything that I am not, and I don’t judge people, I am not contibuting to the sins of anyone, sorry you judge me as such. I love all people, even you and others who always think that you are right. I love Jesus and I know that He loves me. Sorry that to you I am wrong, but Jesus counts more than you:thumbsup:

Adam has said 1 right thing in the over 700 posts here, and that is we should read and study our Bibles more. But as was brought up by someone else on here, shouldn’t everybody? Other than that one statement, he has spouted off contradiction after contradiction and untruth after untruth to the point where most who reply to him are saying relatively the same thing over and over again. I’m all for some good old fashioned Christian charity and love, but sometimes the whipping rod of Truth needs to be weilded.

Joh 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

Now correct me if I’m wrong but, doesn’t the Holy Spirit guide us into all truth and convict us when we are standing against the truth. But we as believers have the Holy Spirit dwelling within us and sense Him on a daily basis…how come we aren’t convicted of the “sin” of separation from the “true visible Church”? Could it be because we look through spiritual lenses and see anyone who is a believer as a brother or sister in Christ? Could God for some reason be allowing this to happen within our lives as non-Catholics without conviction from the Holy Spirit?

It seems this would come down to an issue of whether or not the Catholic Church believes we as non-Catholics are becoming A) numb to the Spirits call in our lives or B) just plain out disobedient and fallen from grace.

If B is the case then I have fully affirmed within myself that is not true and I would have to disagree with any individual who holds such a belief, due to the truth that God works in my life through the Holy Spirit as well as many other protestants I know. If A is the case, I believe the way that God works within me that it is untrue to say I am numb to the Spirits leading and God’s will. Now if neither is the case… it must not be so important an issue that God would convict our hearts and get us “in place” like He does in every other area of our lives dealing with sin. After all we seek the Will of God in our lives, we read the Holy Scriptures, we pray and we experience God just like other true believers…

If God is going to convict me at any point for not being Catholic, I pray it would be now so I can be in the truth, but up to this point God has worked and yet not convicted me on this matter. Therefore it only safe to assume I am in the will of God if I strive to live according to what scripture teaches. If God convicts me later in life on this matter, perhaps it was all part of His will and there was a reason I was not convicted in my past (which only God would know why). However; I highly doubt that would be the case just based on what I have already learned and been taught in the Scripture. I will continue to live by what truth* He has shown and continues to show me* and what ways He would have me follow in this day. God bless you all in your relationship with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We all draw lines in the sand, even the Magestrium draws lines in the sand. Does the Catholic Church consider Mormon Christians to be your brother and sisters in Christ? That is a line in the sand.

What a great post and you are so right!!! Some people think that the Holy Spirit works only in Catholics and that God only works in Catholics, wrong.👍
