In the Greek and Latin versions, too? šŸ˜‰

When Reformed recite the Creed, they mean different things at several places. What is the Catholic Church? What is the forgiveness of sins? What does born of the virgin Mary mean? What’s the communion of saints? See, the Creed is a summary of faith and there are a lot of assumptions behind it. So while you may recite the same words, it’s not quite correct to say you recite the same creed and are therefore Catholic in the sense that you share one Faith.
You sure seem to be at a crossroads. šŸ™‚ Paul, Peter, James, John, and Mary were neither Catholic nor Protestant. They were just redeemed sinners saved by grace alone by Christ alone, justified by faith and united to Christ. If you went from Lutheran to Catholic, you would still be in the same kingdom that you are already in.

But where did they have the authority to change the Apostles Creed? Who wrote it the reformed Church or the Apostles. SO you either go by the Apostles Creed or the reformed Church’s Apostles Creed right? Bottom line Adam its says THe Holy Catholic Church there is only one. You must remember the number ONE. There is only ONe God and he had his Apostles establish ONE church led by ONE HOLY SPRIIT. One Bread One Body One Christ One God. ITs all one.
How is the Apostle’s Creed changed?

There is a difference between being Catholic and catholic. Reformed Christians embrace the Apostles Creed too!

Christians can be

Catholic catholic

or just

catholic.
You are the one who said that the way the Creed is embraced is different. You said CC or just C:shrug: Those are your words.

Sorry I disagree. Paul was persecuting the CC. The Church was indeed Catholic. You yourself showed that in the creed.

Now you say you are Catholic, but I can prove that you are not the same way I can show that Peter, Paul etc were.

To be Catholic is to accept the teaching’s of the Apostles and successors. So you must accept the teachings of the CC in communion with rome which means the Pope.

Now any other CHurch that does not accept the teachings of the CC are Protestant. That is how the word Protestant came about PROTEST the CC. SO sorry Adam you protest the teachings of the Pope and the CC you are not Catholic.

It’s a small ā€œcā€ in the Apostle’s Creed. I’m sure the Orthodox Churches don’t quite interpret the Apostle’s Creed like the Catholic Church.

I agree that I am not Catholic, but I am catholic.

Are you sure? Because I am told 23 churchs and 7 rites and we all pretty much are on the same page as far as understanding scripture and teachings of the church.

Again sorry adam thats impossible. You cannot be Catholic and protest the teachings of the CC. You either accept the teaching of the cc or you are protestant. You protest the teachings. Father told me that.

I agree that I am not Catholic, but I am catholic.
You’re not part of the Universal church.
You’re a separated brother - a divorced member of that Church who needs to find his way home.

Splintered Protestant sects can never claim to be part of the Universal Church that Jesus established until they humble themselves by turning away from their own spiritual pride and come home to Jesus’ ONLY Church.

Remember - Jesus didn’t establish Protestantism - prideful, rebellious men did.

Guanophore correct me if I am wrong. But don’t we all, if we belong to the CC still believe in all of the same teachings? And don’t we all agree that the Bishops and Pope all have the same succession from the Apostles and the Power of the HS to teach.

I mean even if we are RC or any kind of Catholic do we still now all agree with the same teachings? Isn’t our understanding of the teachings the same, and do we not both have Tradition?

Or Elvis man maybe you can answer this. But I was taught as long as we are all Catholic we still have the sacraments and so belong to the same Church. We just disagree in certain disciplines is all?

Well, yes, I believe I am saved and the fact that Rome will recognize my baptism as valid should I convert is a comfort to me. If I thought I was damned outside of the Catholic Church (or any church, again, if I thought that) I would convert immediately.

The Apostles had no need to explain which church they were from back then. They were either Christians or other. There was no need for them to explain they were from the Catholic Church versus another church. ā€œLeft unsaidā€ isn’t the same as ā€œdidn’t exist.ā€ Just like Luther didn’t feel the need to point out that he was a Trinitarian vs. unitarianism or Calvin didn’t need to point out he believed in God against atheists. Or how none of them bothered to specify marriage was for heterosexual couples only. They made assumptions as far as things were understood or had in common by the people they were writing to.

Exactly! Good point. šŸ™‚

Thank you for your posts on this thread. šŸ™‚ I appreciate how you are kind and respectful of the Catholic faith. Wish I could say that of all the Protestants and Catholics who post here!

Thanks, but I’m not much of a Protestant since I’m considering ditching. Sometimes I feel like a traitor. 😦

Protestants and Catholics have always been going back and forth for the last 500 years. As sinners, we are either united to Adam or united to the 2nd Adam (Christ). Help me on the unity thread! šŸ™‚

one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.

If the Church is one - it must teach the same thing, not each member believing different things on Eucharist, Baptism, etc

If the Church is catholic - it must be universal, throughout the whole world

If the Church is apostolic - it must be able to trace its roots back to the begining

Who meets these criteria? - the Catholic Church

Christ said he would build a Church on the rock of Peter
That it would be the pillar and foundation of truth
The Church throughout the whole world cannot be invisible

There are millions of Catholic Christians who believe like you. And there are millions of Protestants who do not believe like you. However, Catholics and Protestants love the Lord Jesus Christ.

Cs and Ps love the Lord in deed 😃 šŸ‘ This doesn’t mean of course that all Christians are in full and complete union with His Church.

I think if is more important to be in union with the Lord Jesus Christ. šŸ˜‰

How can one be in full union with Christ if they are not in union with His Church?
It’s an either or my brother. You are either united to Adam, or you are either united to the 2nd Adam. There is no middle ground. You are either part of the old creation, or you are part of the new creation.
