2nd Adam, I did not see that you answered this question of mine:
2nd Adam:
It’s extremely essential, but not to divide over it.

Roman_Catholic:
If something can be “extremely essential” and not worth dividing over, why was there ever a Reformation in the first place? Why are you celebrating Reformation Day? Why are you not going to a Catholic Church?
God bless
Why, oh why, will 2nd Adam not answer this?

God bless

And how do you know his will?
Through God’s special revelation known as Sacred Scripture togther with the illuminating work of God Himself (Spirit of God). Nobody knows the will of God perfectly, except God Himself.

The 5 solas of the Protestant Reformation are essential doctrines. However, we no longer burn each other at the stake. Maybe we should fellowship together with a church BBQ instead?

:grouphug:

Protestants and Catholics together, glorifying God at a church pot luck.

You and I disagree on what Scripture says. How do we resolve that?

Essential (actually I believe the pharse was ‘extremely essential’) but not worth dividing over. Your own words:

So, why the need for the Reformation? Why the divide if it all wasn’t worth dividing? Was it because of pride? Rebellion just for the sake of rebellion? That is what I have to assume sense there was nothing worth dividing over, yet we have the divide… and you are even celebrating your “prideful” rebellion…

God bless

You guys make is so personal. I did not live 500 years ago. If you take my family roots, I go back through the native route… from Hawaii a few generations and from there… other Islands on the Pacific. I’m one of those natives on this thread… or at least my Ancestors.

We both already belong to Catholic Answers. You and I disagree on what Scripture says. How do we resolve that?
Continue discussing with gentleness and respect. Isn’t that what Vatican II encourages, dialogue with your separated siblings?

You say your leader is Jesus Christ. you say he leads you via Scripture. You and I differ on what scripture syas. How do we resolve that?

Pray and ask for Gods guidance:thumbsup:
It’s not that easy, tweety. I think this is a case of someone is right and someone is wrong, and Adam is being challenged to prove that his way is the right way.

In my mind it would be, compare scripture in context and see if it conflicts with other scripture in context and if so, that is the one that is false! lol Sounds easier than it is but with much diligence, search, prayer and guidance we can come to the truth. :]

So if doing that leads one to the truth, why are there so many denominations?

Then what is the purpose of the Living Church. If God did not want us to know his will, why did he come down as Jesus Christ. and remain here as the Holy Spirit. What would that purpose be for at all?

And more to the point of this whole discussion why did he even leave his word if he didn’t expect anyone to understand it?

Thus far it has led to tens of thousands of different versions of the Truth. Is God the author of confusion? Is salvation dependent on properly deciphering the meaning of a book?
