Catholics neeed to read their Bibles!

I honestly believe that you are unable to tell me how Pope Benedict’s teaching on justification by faith alone is different than what historic Protestants believe in regards to justification by faith alone.

If there is no difference why are you not Catholic? if there is no difference why there a split in the first place?

I asked this of Adam about 5 times. He stated that there are “extremely essential” differences but nothing worth dividing over. When asked why there was a division then he… well wasn’t able to explain why. Just said that he didn’t live 500 years ago so basically, “muh” 🤷

The problem is his tryng to distill catholic tecahing down to taking (out of context) a couple of lines out of paper written by BXVI and coming to profound theological concusions based on it. We see the same problem with our Seperated Brtheren and Scripture. In almost all the discussions on justification you see the same 3 or 4 verses quoted over and over and over again. No context, no explantion as to how their interpreation relates to the rest of scripture and 2,000 years of teachings and traditions-just certainty based on small snippets of scripture.
 
The Point I am trying to make, and hopefully can make it soon by my last reply is this.

Anyone can read a bible. But if you even try to begin to read the bible without Tradition you are going to be lost. I don’t care who you are.

So I agree with the Church, if you are going to read the bible and try to intrepret it on your own, its better to not read it at all. Yes Catholic’s should read the bible. But it takes alot of studying to understand what you have just read. That is why I disagree with the comment that All Catholics need to read their bible.

For some its better that they don’t. Unless you have a teacher which is the Church to explain it to you, you will never get the message God us trying to get across to you.

So should Catholic’s read the bible, it they can keep their rading within the teachings of the Church. Yes

Do they NEED to read the bible. No. No salvation is ever in the bible. Salvation is in the Catholic Church, not the Catholic Bible.

The bible cannot baptise you, give you the eucharist etc. That is what Catholics Need. The Catholic Church.

I think to read the bible is great but not needed.

Adam, you cannot discuss that on this thread. make another one. Then we will be glad to show you where you are again wrong! The Pope never said that.

Do you believe that Mary is the mother of God?
Do you believe that Mary is ever virgin?
Do you believe that Mary was without sin (immaculate conception)?
Do you believe that the Catholic Church is the pillar and bulwark of the truth and NOT scripture?
Do you believe in Purgatory?
Do you believe that Catholic priests can forgive sins in persona Christi?
Do you believe that Baptism is required for salvation (including the baptism of desire and of blood)?
Do you believe in the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist?
Do you believe in the intersession of the saints?
Do you believe that the Catholic Church is responsible for the canon of scripture?
Do you believe that those outside of the Catholic Church posses only part of the fullness of the faith?
Do you believe in papal infallibility in matters of faith and morals?
Do you believe in the assumption of Mary?
Do you believe in the sacraments?
Do you use sacramentals?
Do you believe that life begins at conception? (I.e. that abortion is murder)
Do you believe in redemptive suffering?
Do you believe in the particular and general judgment?

PLEASE DO!!! The answer has been given to him numerous times anyway by numerous people. I just wish he’d listen to one of them.

There already was one. It was posted at the same time as this and just kind of morphed into this one. It was also really long. He also refused to acknowledge anything.

that Jesus founded the Church upon Peter?

YES he does and I don’t teach any of that it is my personal beleif. I know that I am saved by Gods grace and have a personal relationship with Jesus. I read the Bible and believe in it totally.o carry on with your witch hunt.
