The poster wasn’t incorrect and it certainly is a big deal. People in Ireland don’t call it a crisis, they call it a catastrophe.Incorrect, there is a shortage of Irish priests (i.e priests that are ethnically Irish), no big deal, India and Central Africa is bailing everyone out with a steady supply of new priests, praise be to God.
Last year 160 priest died while only 9 new were ordained. 228 nuns died with only 2 taking final vows.
Church attendance has collapsed.
Churches and seminaries are closing.
The cost of the sex scandal has drained the Church’s resources.

If you think the answer is to simply import priests from the southern hemisphere, you ought to read Phillip Jenkins book The Next Christianity. It’s a scary prospect. They operate in kind of a pre-Vatican II world. They have a believe in trances, visions, dreams and superstition. Are you following the story of the child-witches in Nigeria? Those branding the children as witches are Evangelical, not Catholic but it tells you the mind set of the culture.
