Has anyone heard of either or both of these and if so are they in union with the Magisterium of the Church?

The sites are: www.catholictv.com
www.realcatholictv.com you have to register for this one, but I clicked on the “blog” and check some of it out. Some one was telling me of things about them that was bad, but I did not find any without registering.

I am just asking to see if anyone has experience with either of these two websites.

Thanks 🙂

I briefly saw CatholicTV. Don’t know much about it yet.

RealCatholicTV is only criticized for their style, and their delivery. That’s purely subjective. They’re just very forthright. RealCatholicTV has been around since 2008, so enough of us know about it, where one can see if it is run by faithful Catholics or not.

None of what I heard from Michael Voris and others, goes against Church Teaching, Nor are they disobedient.
They are pretty much in line with the other apostolates, in regard to faith & moral issues. CA live that I listen to on the Radio for Catholic Topics, etc.
They just have a different focus.

This thread might get pulled though, as it is not a news item, nana3.

But I answered it anyway. Hope that helps! 😃

I am a stickler for orthodoxy and I have never once seen RealCatholicTV depart from the authentic teachings of the Church.

I have only ever briefly seen CatholicTV but what I know of them is overall positive.

Agreed!! Though many will say Mr. Voris in “uncharittable” but there has never been unorthodoxy come out of RCTV.

RealCatholicTV is very good. I enjoy watching the videos Michael sends out. He usually hits the nail right on the head about things.

CatholicTV.com is an outreach of the Archdiocese of Boston. The organization has actually been around since the 50s when it used to brodcast Mass as The Catholic Television Center. It moved on to cable TV and then to the internet. It is a full network with news, music programs, kids shows, documentaries, etc. The Catholics Next Door (from the Sirius radio Catholic Channel) have been talking about a sit-com project they are working on for CatholicTV.com. The network seems to have a lot of programming it produces itself mixed in with programs it licenses from other outlets.

RealCatholicTV is more issues driven and was the brain child of Michael Voris. He is the main “on-air” presence for that network.

The audience is different for the two networks. RealCatholicTV reaches out to people who are already strong Catholics. Catholic TV.com is more for the average guy in the pews or even those who are not actively practicing their faith.

I respectfully disagree. When watching his videos I find myself agreeing with him, because I am already grounded. But RealCatholicTV reaches out, and is intended for, Catholics who are lukewarm. They need these messages more than I do. They need to hear what authentic Catholic teaching is all about. This is what they are about.

T 😃
Don’t know about being disobedient. When told by USCCB and the World Youth Conference that they were basically not welcome to teach catechism, Voris insist otherwise and is refusing to back off, saying he answers to a higher authority than the Church. This is dangerous ground to put oneself on as a Catholic since we are all called to obedience.

I wasn’t talking about the message as much as the delivery and marketing.

I see it a lot like EWTN and the Catholic Channel on satellite radio. They both have lots of good stuff. TCC just has different “hooks” to get people to listen than EWTN does.

It’s all good. 🙂

I read the press release. It did not say they weren’t welcome or that they shouldn’t be teaching catechism. It was just a clarification that this was an activity that was not under the offical authority or control of the World Youth Day sponsors.

NO ONE has told RCTV to NOT be in Madrid.

RCTV NEVER asked to be approved, has never assumed it was approved, and never presented itself as if it was approved.

Lay Catholics do NOT need “approval” from anyone to talk about the faith.

There is NO disobedience because no one was told they had to obey anything.

At no point, EVER, has Michael Voris said he “answers to a higher authority than the Church”, and to say that he has is slanderous. If you believe this to be inaccurate, please provide proof.

I have attached the official video response, as well as the press release, to clear up any misunderstanding that may arise from the WYD “unapproved” statement.

This seems to be a very misguided post that really seems more about one’s personal opinion of a “issue” rather than factual information. See Liza’s post above and below. I find it hard to believe that a lay organization such as RealCatholicTV and their stance FOR the Church and against those things that oppose Her would not be “welcomed” at such an event as World Youth Day. Again, I get that they are not asking to be approved or anything like that, but one would think that an organization that is promoting the TRUTH would be encouraged to be there, no?

Very good points and thanks for clarifying. I have not seen all of the 800 episodes of RCT, but I have been able to view a lot of them and I have to say that I really enjoy someone that “tells it like it is” when it comes to the issues of the Catholic Church and Her teachings. I have not found Michael Voris to be against the teachings of the Church. Again, as he has stated, you may not like his style or how the videos are presented, but that is understandable and he admits that the goal is to follow and provide the teachings of Holy Mother Church. Which they do.

God Bless RCT!

My wife and I watch “Catholic News Roundup” and “The Vortex” every day, and have certainly benefited from RCTV. My wife has told me that she has enjoyed the teaching, something which she did not get while involved with “community service” work in lieu of catechesis while growing up a Catholic.

Voris’s forthrightness and head-on delivery of Catholic teaching may startle more than a few, precisely because that is NOT how–and in most cases what–we are apt to hear in the AMChurch parish of the status quo, regulated by those whom the Holy Father has aptly named “Professional Catholics”.

Admittedly, I have found Voris given frequently to hyperbole, which his editorial style might do better without. Nevertheless, RCTV programming constitutes one of the few refreshingly sane and authentically “Catholic” times of my day! : )

CTV I cannot comment on. But given the kind of scandal still rife in the Archdiocese of Boston, I am not in a big hurry to add it to my viewing list at this time. : )

This from WYD makes it clear that realcatholictv is not endorsed.

Yes it is true that any lay person can give speak of their faith. But those at an official church function, who are promoting their own agenda should and need to be scrutinized.
RCTV as far as I have been able to tell has no official stamp of approval from anyone, which is required to use ‘Catholic’ in one’s name
Code:
WYD Cultural Program Participants Must Be Endorsed by Bishops’ Conferences
Code:
It has come to our attention that Michael Voris, a US based media producer, is scheduled to offer independent catechesis sessions out of a hotel in Madrid during World Youth Day 2011. There has been some confusion regarding his affiliation with World Youth Day. Michael Voris, the clergy and the laity associated with him, and their media efforts “Real Catholic TV” and “No Bull in Madrid” are not in any way recognized or approved by World Youth Day 2011.
Code:
Catechesis at World Youth Day is offered by Bishops of the Catholic Church in union with Pope Benedict XVI, who has invited the young people of the world to join him in Madrid for this celebration of faith and life. The Vatican’s Pontifical Council for the Laity selects and invites Bishops, and only Bishops, from around the world to conduct Catechesis sessions at WYD in various languages.
Code:
Participants in the World Youth Day 2011 Cultural Program must be recognized and endorsed by the Bishops and Episcopal Conferences of their respective countries. Participants were selected for Cultural program by the World Youth Day organization in close collaboration with the Pontifical Council for the Laity. Those groups participating in the World Youth Day 2011 Cultural Festival have been selected because, through their various activities, they promote the authentic teaching and unity of the Roman Catholic Church and have been endorsed by their local Bishop and Espiscopal conference. Michael Voris, “Real Catholic TV” and “No Bull in Madrid” did not receive such endorsement from their Bishop or Episcopal Conference.
Code:
Michael Voris, “Real Catholic TV” and the program “No Bull in Madrid” are not accredited to or recognized by World Youth Day 2011.
Code:
World Youth Day Madrid 2011 invites and encourages all pilgrims attending this celebration of faith to visit the vast array of events that make up the official World Youth Day 2011 Cultural Festival and are endorsed by the Pontifical Council for the Laity, the WYD organization and their respective Bishops conferences.

CTV I cannot comment on. But given the kind of scandal still rife in the Archdiocese of Boston, I am not in a big hurry to add it to my viewing list at this time. : )
I wasn’t aware that there was any scandal involving the diocese’s media or communication departments. Can you provide some documentation on that?

…Lay Catholics do NOT need “approval” from anyone to talk about the faith.…
While your statement is correct you also must remember that formal teaching of the faith in a diocese is done under the authority of the local Bishop. Obedience and proper procedures are what make the Church strong to external and internal attacks. I think that a lot of people allow themselves more independence than what might be prudent for the good of the souls. We must always remember that we do things because we are with God and not because God is with us.

I also think that we still need strong orthodox voices and a stronger unity to address the garbage that comes from pseudo-catholic groups that are out to teach erroneous information that goes against the fundamental doctrines of the Church.

I love realcatholictv, the complaints I see about it is from those lamenting it’s orthodoxy and faithfulness to the Church.

No, it seems this is just a ruse by the administrative channels of USCCB. Their PRESS statements are just as politically motivated as when they try to make Catholics believe that Obama did something GOOD or something or some half-butted, condemnation of Obama Death-care’s abortion & euthanasia red flags, while nuancing their condemnation to still SOMEWHAT supporting Universal Health Care under the guise of Social Justice perversion. They parse statements under benign Christian language, and all of this is aimed at keeping Catholic Democrats assuming they can support their party in spite of their embrace of two anti-Catholic non-negotiables, because they want them to still believe this is the North East and 1930’s and that “workers’ rights” relates to the ethnic Catholic minorities.
They want to pretend that the Democratic party isn’t NOW the party of DEATH that Cardinal Burke called them – and that it’s okay to still vote because although abortion is wrong, they are giving us free healthcare, and aiding Immigrants, and the Republican’s policies on War, is equivalent in evil. The administrative channels have people on the Catholic Job who have no qualms to place moral equivalency on the issue of abortion an intrinsic evil, with other moral issues that have conditions.

Even Patrick Madrid said it was a PECULIAR statement singling out Michael Voris.

You are falling for the ploy of that press statement. Which went out of their way to somehow frame MV’s presence at WYD as somehow an act of Disobedience to the uninformed. No, if I , a layman, was asking “Hey, when is WYD this year? I think I might want to go! Maybe I’ll set up a gathering, because I have some information about Obama’ Administrations policies that attack the freedom of Religion and also his mandatory imposition on citizens paying for CONTRACEPTION, and using tax dollars to promote birth control products”
This is what MV’s situation falls under, if I am not mistaken.

So, this isn’t a case of disobedience, because no Local Bishop can say YOU CANT go to World Youth Day. There is nothing to disobey in the first place. Nor was MV announcing No Bull In Madrid, as if they were sponsored or part of it. They are just there in Madrid too as Catholics travel there for that event.

Anyway, please know that MV & RCTV has shown a sign of OBEDIENCE when he was going to give a speech in Scranton, PA I think through an invite. That disturbed whoever in that diocese, and he wasn’t allowed to speak at the parish. He complied, and had to reschedule and give his talks at a Hotel.

So all this implication that MV is somehow being disobedient is an attempt to label him *“you stay away from him” * from whoever feathers he is ruffling.

People are now thinking you need approval as a Lay Catholic to attend WYD, and talk about matters of the faith with other Lay Catholics. It’s absurd and has nothing to do with defiance against the Bishops.

I mentioned this yesterday with others ^^ you can see more of these comments, from Lizaane et al.

If Voris was really showing displays of someone ROGUE, or anything, he & RCTV could have a vindictive attitude and take it personally, but as LizAnn has said, what would be the point? they will do what they do.
They are mum about it, but I made comments above this was politics, and a disapproval from those who don’t want him informing too much of the Youth possibly there? Because MV who has talked with good bishops who don’t admonish him. Bishop Bruskewitz being one. He also has talked with the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate, here:

youtube.com/watch?v=G5K-KWwI9mQ

One has to ask the question, ’ Who are the Catholics upset with RCTV ? ’ We should be reminded that there are Catholics NOT upset with them too. Not just the laity, but members of the Clergy. Seems to me it’s the more politically involved-- rather compromised – that might have a bone to pick with RCTV.

Watch this video as one example of why MV & RCTV are at times treated this way,

The CCHD and Saul Alinksy

And you will see, that MV & his research team, have run into the corruption within some dioceses of Catholic Church in America. In regard to the man-made mechanisms that occur within the channels of our Church.

And this is ongoing, so one should not be surprised by this Press Headline Game against Voris & his team for their “no Bull in Madrid” program.

Wow, I did not expect a lot of response. So basically realcatholictv is in union with the Church. That is what I wanted to know. Thank you all so much. I kind of thought that they might be from the little that I did watch on the blogs. God Bless you all.🙂

Wow, get a life or put your aluminum foil cone hat back on. Sorry to be judgmental , but since you want to believe some on line sudo teacher who claims to give the truth and has not credintials other then a slick web site over our bishops, then you have truly been lead down the wrong path by Voris and he is doing real damage to the Church, not good.
