Several of us have said this several times in this thread: it’s not lust.
It’s nowhere near lust. It’s more like a little child loving a puppy. There’s no sexual stuff at all in most crushes.
I would say that if there is sexual stuff, it’s gone beyond a crush, and probably has become lust or perhaps “longing” or “desire,” which leads to lust according the Bible.
As for the final sentence in your post above, I’ve said earlier in this thread that feelings like this should NOT be directed at your spouse, because they ARE “puppy love,” and a spouse deserves true, deep, “married” love, not a silly, funny little crushy gushy “love” that really isn’t love at all, but just “playing,” as another poster described it.
Gordon Sims, I think you should just let it go and not be bothered by “celebrity crushes.” You apparently don’t have the type of personality that is likely to have a “crush” on anyone. That’s OK. When it come to “playing,” not everyone likes to play the same way. I always loved building forts and pretending to be secret agents, but not all of my friends enjoyed playing that with me–they preferred hiking around the backyard and pretending to be explorers. That’s OK. We were still friends.
The one caution I would have for you is to tread lightly around your children. Perhaps they are just like you and will never be interested in teen idols like One Direction. But many young teenagers do experience a very strong crush on an actor or musicians. I hope that you will not condemn your children when it happens to them, or accuse them of “lusting after someone.” You don’t get it–that’s fine. But don’t condemn your children if they do “get it.”
