Catholic Health Association Board member, Bishop Robert Lynch, says he subscribes to the USCCB view that the Senate Health Bill is not acceptable.

Then why on earth is the CHA standing in support of pro-abortion health care reform when the USCCB clearly has called it unacceptable?

This man confuses the faithful.

“This man” who is Bishop Robert Lynch confuses NO ONE. He has been very ill and hospitalized while other Board members of CHA made the FLAWED decision to back Obama rather than backing the US Conference of Catholic Bishops. Bishop Lynch has been highly public with his censure of CHA’s actions and there have been numerous articles quoting him re this over the past few days. It is the very radical “nuns” such as Sr. Carol Keehan who are confused.

Really- Google Bishop Robert Lynch!
His rebuke is everywhere.

Someone needs to tell me what’s unacceptable about the health care that has these provisions:

After 90 days
  • there will be high risk pools for everyone to get into who can’t get insurance otherwise
(I think there are some subsidies here somewhere too)
After 180 days
  • all kids get covered
  • extension to 26 years for kids to stay on with their parents
  • no lifetime limits
  • end to rescission (can’t drop anyone)
In 2011
  • free annual wellness tests for Medicare recipients
  • more $ insurance has to use on actual medical costs (80-85%)
  • all rate hikes subject to review
In 2014
  • all pre-existing conditions covered
  • insurance exchanges subject to government oversight
  • no annual limits

I hope he’s a good bishop. Perhaps he should consider separating himself from affiliation with the CHA (though that would have to be carefully weighed against the benefit of having a good bishop on the board who can try to keep them in line…)

From the article posted it was not clear that his personal stance was pro-life. It was confusing to ME, and it seems to me it’s likely confusing to other Church faithful. I read the article as Lynch hoping that the USCCB could align itself more closely with the CHA, not the other way around.

It might help to recognize that the news service Catholic Press took a part of an article from LifeSite News about this issue. LifeSite News is a private non-profit that is not a Catholic agency.

Yes, Bishop Robert Lynch is a wonderful Catholic bishop.
