You at least admit that it was the Roman Catholic Church that assembled the canon.

So if the Catholic Church was THE only Church in the ancient world, and the scriptures themselves say that the Body of Christ IS the Church. It is only through THAT Body which has the Apostles, therefore Christ, as their foundation and who left behind proven men-that is men who were taught to interpret the scriptures the way that the Apostles had- to teach and oversee (Greek: episkopen-rendered to english also means bishop) the Body. Then THAT Body and only that Body must be the Church. And that Body because of the fact that they uphold and maintain those sound and solid interpretations that they received from the Apostles and God allows them the authority to teach under the continued guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Can you interpret another “church” from scripture? Absolutely, but only at the risk of putting yourself under the judgement of those who received the Apostolic and Catholic teachings and who new better.
I Agree, One time i said that the Catholic Bible was the FIrst Bible written by the Catholic Church and boy did i get my fingers slapped. The word assembled is the word. But here is a good point too, if it was in turn the first bible lets say published how could we have added books. Oh just another truth in the Catholic Faith wouldnt you say.

Oh my little buddy what am i to do.

Okay bear with me.
this will be a few posts, have a pretty busy day will be in and out today. Gods taking care of me today you know what they day idle hands devils workshop.

Okay let me start here. 27 years ago my husband and i were looking for a house. Now you remember the ones the split entries. Around here they were package deals. you could buy them for like 40,000. He argued with me up and downs there is no way. Okay so we go to the place and he want to know how its made. well at first the guy had to get someone else, couldnt answer him. Then the one guy could answer some questions not many. So hes like yeah and this is who is going to build this house. Well i call him a smart ***. Now finally we get the guy who really knows whats going on. Now me, Im bored to death, I just want the house. What i see. DOnt care whats hidden. Now husbands asks about 2 x4 2x6 whatever, mind as well talk in tongues as far as im concerned. Im busy with the fun people looking at carpet. Ok now they get into a DISCUSSION, Now he says i want this instead of this. So when its all said and done this 40,000 house made the way he wants it, we are way over 100.000 and still going. So we leave, Im mad Im like why did you have to pick this house apart. He said no you dont understand it has to be made right. You have to have a solid house, solid foundation, This house has to last us forever. So thats that. No house. we buy a old one and he builds on. What it cost me for a garage 2 bedrooms 2 baths and family room NO LABOR mind you most people have a 4 bedroom house. now hes says you just wait. Well sure enough years later brick is falling off these houses, when they need a roof its not just shingles, its a roof wood and all. okay. get my point now.

Here we go
We have to start with history. Jesus said his church would be the light of the world. city on hill cant be hid (matt.5:14)must be visible and clearly identify it from other churches. Jesus promised gates of hell wont prevail matt 16:18. This mean it will always be here. The CC is the only Universal Christian Church that has existed since the time of Jesus. Eastern Orthodox broke away form the pope in 1054. protestant during the reformation began in 1517. and then Protestants broke off of each other and keep going. even today. Only the CC existed in the tenth century, fifth and in the first. Be back got alot to share.

This is a very interesting discussion, but I think what a lot of people don’t realize is that two people that interpret the Bible differently will never be persuaded by any one particular passage that goes against their convictions.

Sometimes you have to think outside the box.

Let me pose this question. What if you gave a person a set of medical books, and another person the federal code of law, and said to them, I am coming back in four years, I expect one of you to be a skilled surgeon and the other to be a distinguished constitutional lawyer. Would that be reasonable?

No, because you need actual teachers, and the authority (medical board, state bar) to determine who is qualified and who is not.

If this makes sense in these fields, don’t you think that it would be reasonable that the Lord wouldn’t leave his sheep without a Shepherd, and that that Shepherd would have the authority and protection needed to give them the true interpretation of His teaching?

Ok Scott. Hold on let me finish. And its going to take while because I work at home and i have 3 people comming in a minute, Im doing this between People. Let me finsh all of this then you can take your best shot at me. Let be patient.

Now In that first century faithfully teaching the doctrines given by Christ to the apostles omitting nothing. (okay i believe we both can agree on this one.) Now the line of popes CAN be traced back in unbroken succession to Peter himself. (now you can trace it yourself) This is UNEQUALED by any institution in history. Even the oldest goverment is new compared to the papacy, door to door missionaries are young compared to the Catholic CHurch. Many churches began in the 19&20 century. Some in our lifetime. You see it now, people who are trying to be one church, and say lets all get together and worship our own God. In my eyes its impossible. But lets get back to this None of them can claim to the the Church Jesus established. The CC existed for 2000 years and counting. despite CONSTANT oposition form the WORld. This is testimony to the Churchs divine origin, It must be more then a human organization, especially since it has human members even some of its leaders have been corrupt, etc. If the Church was merely human with such members it would have collapsed early on. The CC is today is still the largest with one sixth of the human race. not by the cleverness of the churchs leaders but to the protection of the Holy Spirit. Now go back read it God does say that.

Now the four marks of the church. The Church we seek must be ONE Holy Catholic and Apostolic.

Okay lets break this down . Lets start with one rom12:5 1cor10:17

contin… 12:13, ccc*813-822

Jesus established only one church not a collection of differing churches. The bible says the Church is the bride of Christ eph 5:23 -32 Jesus can have but one spouse and his spouse is the CC. His Chrch also teaches just one set of doctrines, which must be the same as taught by the apostles jude 3. (St Jude my favorite hes for the hopeless) sorry back to important stuff, This the the unity of belief to which scripture calls us phill. 1 ;27 2 ;2.

Although some Catholics dissent from officiallly taught taught doctrines, the churchs official teachers the pope bishops, united with him have never changed any doctrine. Over centuries as they are examined better the church understands them more deeply john 16:12-13. but it never understands them to mean the opposite of what they once meant.

Now the Church is Holy

By his grace Jesus makes the church Holy just as he is. ITs doesnt mean we are. there are good and bad in the church we agree on that so does john6:70. and we all arent going to heaven Catholic or not matt7:21-23 But the Church itself is holy because it is the source of holiness and is the guardian of the special means of grace Jesus established the sacraments cf.Eph 5:26 be back

Rinnie you know I love you sister. Yes the catholic church will always stand and prevail. But we’re splitting hairs again over what the Catholic church means. It is the universal church of Christ to which all believers IN Christ are members.

Okay, so here are the definitions of Grace. Note that there are two given here, Actual Grace and Sanctifying Grace. Note also that there have been controversies surrounding Grace:

Actual Grace:
newadvent.org/cathen/06689x.htm

Sanctifying Grace:
newadvent.org/cathen/06701a.htm

Controversies on Grace:
newadvent.org/cathen/06710a.htm

Divine Grace:
newadvent.org/cathen/05572c.htm

Note that the topic of Divine Grace is covered under the heading of Eucharist, as this is the means God uses to Communicate His Divine Grace to us. Even after 40 years, there is always room to grow and learn.

Prayerfully, by virture of His manifold Graces,

Gene
I don’t need an education over divine grace and sanctifying grace. Read Acts or Paul’s letter to the Romans or any of Paul’s writings and notice how often he speaks of Grace. He never mentions receipt of Grace through communion.

Are you unaware that the Apostles had no bible as we know it?

What “scriptures” do you suppose that were being refered to in 2-tim-3:16
I surely am aware that the Apostles were not carrying around the Bible in their back pockets like we do today. Why would they, they were the ones who wrote most of it.

The scriptures Paul was referring to was obviously the Old testament. They did have scrolls in the Temple and in fact we see Jesus picking them up and referencing them. The point is that just as Paul instructed Timothy to trust scripture the same applies to us today. Only we have the benefit of actually having the Bible. When the early churches struggled whether it was persecution, false teachers, bad practices etc. the Apostles wrote to them. Don’t we consider what they wrote as scripture?? If so then how does Paul’s statement to Timothy not apply to us today??

Here’s what I would like you to do. Show me one teaching of the church that has absolutely no scriptural support whatsover. Name one please.

Evidently, you do need such an education. As you seem to have rejected the teaching authority of the Church. You propose to know it all. Yet, because you can not find a quote in scripture, you reject the very source and summit of Grace, the Christ Jesus Himself in the Eucharist!

May God in the most Holy Eucharist open your eyes to His most Precious Son, source of all Graces!

Now here is the biggie. THe question as a matter of fact of this thread.

The Church is Catholic Jesus Church is called catholic (universal) greek because it is his gift to all people. He told his apostles make disciples of all nations matt28:19-20.

2000 years the Catholic CHurch has carried out this mission. Preaching the good news that CHrist died for all men and that he wants all of us to be members of his universal family gal 3:28

even today the CC is sending out the message Matt 28 ;19

The church Jesus established was known by its most common title The CC st least as early as the year 107. when Ignatitus of Antioch used that title to discribe the one Church Jesus founded. It was in old Ignatitus times when means probally wt back to the time of the apostles.
The Church is Apostolic eph2:19-20 ccc854-865

Its apostolic because Jesus appointed the apostles to be the first leaders. and their successors were to be its future. The apostles were the first bishops, and since the first century there has been an unbroken line of catholic bishops handing on what the apostles taught the first Christians in scripture and oral tradiion 2 tim.2:2

early christan writings prove the first christians were throughly Catholic in belief and practice, and the apostles were thier leaders. what the first christians believed is still believe in the Catholic Church no other church can make this claim. (now you have to admit thats pretty big)

Pillar of fire, pillar of truth (thats the book this is commming from. (bet ya thought i was this smart huh) just kidding

Mans ingenuity canno account for this. THe cc is ohca. not thur man but thru God. matt.16:18 28:20. He guided the isrelites on thier escape from egypt by giving them the fire to light across the dard exod 13:21 Today he guides us thru his CC.
the bible, sacred tradition, and writings of the earliest christians testify that the church teaches with Jesus authority. In this age of countless competing religions each clamoring for attention one voice rises above the din THe CC which the bible calls the pillar and foundation of truth(1tim3:15)

Jesus assured the apostes and their successors the popes and bishops He who listens luke10:16 Jesus promised to guide the church in truth john 16:12-13

The structure of the church

Apostles were earlies leaders. he gave tehm his on authoritoy to govern and teach. not as dictators but as loving pastors and fathers. thats why we call them Father. like pauls example 1cor4:15. the apostles fulfulling Jesus will ordained bishops priests and deacons and thus handed their apostolic ministry to them to the fullest degree of ordination to the bishops, lesser degrees to the priests and deacons.

popes and bishops ccc880-883

Jesus gave peter authority among the apostles John 21:15-17 and signified it by changing his name Simon to Peter which mean rock John1:42 He said Peer was to be the rock on which he would build his churchMatt. 16:18 now why did he do this if he didnt want Peter to rule the Church. there is no other, in my mind, reason that makes sense. Christ gave Peter alone the keys of the kingdom mat 16:19 and promised that Peters decisions would be binding in heaven. He also gave similar power to teh other apostles matt 18:18 but only Peter was given the keys, symbols of his authoritoy to rule the church on earth in Jesus absence. Now lisen close to this one Christ the Good Shepherd called Peter to be the chief shepherd of his church John 21:15-17Now this was John who we all say we believe right?then how can we deny what he is saying. Peter isnt saying it John is see what i mean. He gave peter the task of strengthening the other apostles in their faith, ensuring that the faith of the church would never GO ASTRAY luke 22:31-32 See now we got luke in on the picture saying oh Peters the main man. now see what i mean. Peter led the church proclaiming the gospel and making decisions. now the acts are in on this acts 2:1-41 15:7-12 Now see why i tell you im either seeing it or not seeing it. If i say i dont believe them there, A why would they say it and B then how could i believe other things then. the truth is the truth. I dont see them denying this later down the line .see what i mean. OR turning this around. Now early teaching show us that Peters successors bishops from rome. who from the earliest times they called pope from papa continued to exercise Peters ministy in the church. The pope is the successors to Peter and the bishops ar e the successors to the apostles in general. Now next GOD SPEAKS TO US

He Speaks to us to his Church Thru the Bible And thru sacred Tradition. To make sure he guides the churchs teachings authority the magisterium.so it alwayls inerprets the bible and radition accurately. This is the Gift of Infallibiility.

Sacred Tradtiton should not be comfused with traditions of men. which are more commmonly called customs or disciplines. Jesus sometimes condemned customs or disciplines but only if they were contrary to Gods commands. mark 7:8/ He never codemned sacred tradition and didnt even condem all human tradition.Sacred tradition and the bible are not different or competing revelations. that the 2 ways the churc hands down the gospel. Apostolic teachings, Trinity, infant baptism, inerrancy of the bible, purgatory and Marys perpitual Virginity. The bible itself tells us to hold on to tradition written or oral 2 thess.2:15 cor.11:2 But dont confuse it with customs and disciplines.

Scripture ccc 101-141

it is old and new inspired by 2 Tim 3:16 the Holy Spiri guided the biblical authors to write what he wanted them to write. The inspired books teach the truth. Some Christians claim the bible is all i need. but this notion is not in the bible itself. in fact the bible teaches the contrary idea (and boy do we get it for this) (2 Pet 1:20-21 3:15-16 The bible alone theory was not believed by anyone in the early Church. It is new having arisen only in the 1500 during the Protestant Reformation. The theory is a Tradition of men that nullifies the Word of God, distorts the true role of the bible. and undermines the authority of the Church Jesus established Mark 7:1-8 THe bible alone theory does not work in practice. Historical experience disproves it. each year we see splintering among Bible believing religions. (this is a very important statement.)
thats why today there is competing dinominations, each insisting it interpretation of the bible is right. (and why we are here today) Pick up the phone book look how many churches no 2agree on exactly what the bible means. this is a fact. The Holy Spirit cannot be the author of this confusion 1cor 14:33 God cannot lead people to contradictory beliefs because his truth is one. the conclusion the bible alone theory must be false. ( you have to see my point there but again some one didnt get that point and turned it all around. and said you are saying the bible is wrong we never said that. thats why we say it has to be taught to us. If it wasnt we would be just like any other church. Breaking off. we dont we are here and we will be here forever. When i get done this will be the whole Catholic Faith period. Be Back about why we need the sacraments…

Rinnie you know I love you sister. Yes the catholic church will always stand and prevail. But we’re splitting hairs again over what the Catholic church means. It is the universal church of Christ to which all believers IN Christ are members.
let me finish this and when i do i swear you will understand what i am saying i promise. It wont be splitting hairs anymore. As least i hope not. ITs long but bear with me. IT will be worth it.

Rinnie you know I love you sister. Yes the catholic church will always stand and prevail. But we’re splitting hairs again over what the Catholic church means. It is the universal church of Christ to which all believers IN Christ are members.
We actually agree on the bolded bits above!

You simply fail to accept that one can be more distant than others from being in full communion with her based on doctrinal differences.

Your self-described denominations, and non-demoninations, are contained within the Church, while we Catholics are simply not self-described as being in a container within that Church.

You consider each PERSON to be utterly responsible for their “distance from full communion” to the Universal (Catholic) Church which no “denomination” (which you see the so-called “RCC” to be) can “help” you with, while we see that being in the so-called “RCC” as a “help” (a HUGE help and necessity if known to be a help) to be in most full communion with the Body of Christ the Church (Catholic).

So, was there a “church” which wasn’t the Church (Catholic) which simply “took the Church’s [Catholic] word for it” that the selected books in the bible were correct?

Who were these folks?
Wow you almost lost me there Brother. My point was the church had criteria that was used to select the Canon. But selecting the Canon doesn’t mean you are the absolute teaching authority of the contents. If one person assembled the Bible, would that make him/her the absolute teaching authority of it. I would say no and here’s why. Look how the Gospels were chosen as Canon. Initially it was decided that there would only be 4 Gospels in the Bible just like the 4 points of a compass, North, South, East, and West. What the logic there is is beyond me. But do the research and you’ll see what I men. To ultimately select the 4 they noticed that Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John were the most widely accepted Gospels and the most understood by the people reading them at that time. This is why we don’t have for instance the Gospel of Phillip included as Canon. Or any other of Gospel for that matter. Have you ever really studied why and how the Bible was assembled. Josh McDowells book is excellent.
Give a bible in the Fnooboo language to a Fnooboo native, where the Fnooboo people are a very isolated group of Ngano-glitlan people on the island of Wau in the far southeastern Pacific who have never had any contact with “Westerners” (Christian or elsewise) [or “Easterners” for that matter].
They can read the bible, as they can read their own language, but what does it MEAN to them?
Such a great question. If they read the Bible and had no one to explain it to them what would happen?? Would they find Jesus or not? This is like saying nobody can ever read the works of William Shakespeare without a teaching authority and that if a Fnooboo native read Shapkespeare is his native language he/she couldn’t possibly understand.

Give humanity a little more respect for their intelligence than that. Maybe a less educated person couldn’t begin to understand the Bible but that doesn’t mean everyone.
The reason that we have the illusion that the bible is “easily understandable” is that our culture is BASED on it, and even then, one needs specialized experts, even if they are “part-time”, to more fully understand what is going on in the bible and what it means.
This is your opinion and not a statement of fact. Perhaps you may need more help than someone else does.
That is precisely the definition of a protestant church.
No that’s your definition of a Protestant church. Perhaps you should research what a Protestant church really is.
If ANY set of doctrines that are self-proclaimed as “Christian” makes one a Christian, then on what grounds can anyone claim another person is not a Christian?
Ooohhhh GOOD question. Look in the mirror my Brother because it appears that Roman Catholics do just that in these forums. If you claim that adhering to all Roman Catholic doctrines makes you a Christian, then how can you tell me I’m not a Christian??
Truly, there aren’t in fact 30,000 “Christian denominations”, but rather several hundreds of millions of “Christian denominations” because each individual is fully authorized to be his own “Pope” and “decision maker a to doctrine” of his “church”.
I think you stretched this just a little too far. You obviously have some bad feelings about something. What I don’t know. But it’s almost like you can’t stand the fact that there is life with Jesus outside the roman Catholic church and you want so badly to tell people that they absolutely can’t have a relationship with Jesus or even begin to undertand the Bible unless they are a member of the Roman Catholic church.

Let me just say this to you. I never was a real student of the Bible. Since making Bible reading a priority I can tell you that my appreciation for Jesus has never been greater. Now that just may be the effect it had on me. But I know plenty others that feel the same way. I never had a teacher. I’ve taken Bible study classes but I don’t think I ever learned something that I was clueless on. The only exception may have been Revelations. Do I think I can go out and start my own Church?? Heck no. Do I think I can preach the Gospels?? Sure why not. I wouldn’t proclaim myself to be an expert but I can certainly handle myself in a conversation and if that means someone may be saved then how could I go wrong. I think we just disagree on who the ultimate teaching authority is.

=CalmDownWisWins;3278984]Once again your idea of “a church” is causing you difficulties. The Catholic Mass is several in actual practice, but must contain certain specific elements. If those elements aren’t there, then it’s not a Mass.

By definition the mass is the sacrifice of Christ. The elements of bread and wine becoming the body and blood of Jesus and then being offered as a sacrifice. Which of course makes no sense because the sacrifice is over. I have no difficulties with the idea of “the church”. But perhaps you should research how the concept of the mass and idea behind the sacrifice actually stems from Mithraism. Then take a look at how all the clothing the Priests and the Pope himself wears and compare that to what the Mithraists wore in their worship. Then show me in the Bible where the early Christians had a mass. I believe we will find that they (Christians) dedicated themselves to the prayers of the Apostles, their teachings about Jesus, and the breaking of Bread). No sacrifice is even mentioned.
If a priest doesn’t perform the Mass, then it’s not a Mass, which all people of the Body of Christ are commanded to attend if at all possible. If they don’t then they distance themselves from being in communion with the Church.

According to who??? This isn’t what Jesus taught us.
BUT, the Mass is not the only way to “worship God”, either for Catholics or anyone else.
A “church” which doesn’t perform the Mass is not a “false church” meaning an “anti-Christian” church, but those who know better that not going to Mass is Anti-Christian who refuse to do so are members of their own, personal, “Me as Pope of my church” anti-Christian “church”.
Our church partakes in the Lord’s supper every week. We also read from the Gospels each week. Our message is completely centered on Christ and our responsorial actions are with prayers and songs of worship. How is that anti-chistian??
Why is that not obvious?
Already answered.

I surely am aware that the Apostles were not carrying around the Bible in their back pockets like we do today. Why would they, they were the ones who wrote most of it.

If so then how does Paul’s statement to Timothy not apply to us today??

Here’s what I would like you to do. Show me one teaching of the church that has absolutely no scriptural support whatsover. Name one please.
The last paragraph first: There is no teaching of the Church which has no “scriptural support”!

BUT, one could, through “private revelation”, come to the conclusion that the Holy Trinity is NOT scriptural because the word “Trinity” is not to be found there.

SOME traditions hold that opinion! They claim we “trinitarians” are non-scriptural.

This is why there needs to be a single decision maker, a “Pontifex Maximus”, as you so nicely brought up. We need a “bridge”, a SINGLE bridge, a single conduit, through which to have truths which are SINGULAR in their meaning as all truths MUST BE SINGULAR in their meanings.

You would have truth be a matter “concensus”. I would most certainly not.

On the first two paragraphs above: The churches had the apostles present, though time delayed, to answer their specific problems. The apostles responded with “living words” which were tailored to the needs of those who had problems.

The bible, for all it’s wonders, is a set piece. It is not in itself in any way “responsive” such that it will change itself to suit those asking it questions.

Am I saying that all answers to all matters of faith and morals can’t be found within the bible? No. But to FIND THEM there is an interpretation of the FIXED WORDS of scripture necesssary, which is what tradition is!

Having a bible without a tradition to give it meaning is to possess a doorstop and nothing more. A tree has no use for a bible. An feral illiterate child has no use of a bible. There must be some means of transfering the wisdom of the bible to the mind of a man to make it in any way meaningful (useful), and that is done ONLY by way of a tradition that can make sense of it.

The apostles WERE the tradition which interpreted scripture correctly for those who wanted a correct interpretation. When the apostles died out, they left those taught by them to continue the tradition of correctness of interpretation of scripture. That tradition is not re-invented wholesale when an isolated person simply picks up a bible and begins reading it.

It is a lovely thought that the bible is an easy thing to draw wisdom from, but that is not reality. To deny the most experienced and SINGLE God-assured infallible tradition due to an inherent sociologically distaste for “authority figures” is to trade one’s comfort for truth. Who would make that trade?

It is simply impossible to state that: if no one source of truth is more infallible than any other then I (the speaker) can INFALLIBLY say that your (the Catholic) source is NOT infallible!

You MUST grant that possibility! We claim that that possibility is in fact the truth, and await any and all attempts at proving it untrue to our “infallible” satisfaction.

Wow you almost lost me there Brother. My point was the [Catholic] Church had criteria that was used to select the Canon. But selecting the Canon doesn’t mean you are the absolute teaching authority of the contents… I think we just disagree on who the ultimate teaching authority is.
It is hard to understand your partial assent here. I added the Catholic above. It was the Catholic Church that decided which writings were Inspired by God. The very process of doing this implies a sense of Authority which only Christ can give. And then in the same breath you exhale and mutter that this does not mean what it very clearly means. That the Catholic Church has the Teaching Authority of Christ!

Can we sharpen the words any more pointedly? She (The Catholic Church) who has Authority to discern the very Word of God has that One and same Authority to teach it’s meaning by virtue of her unity with Christ Himself. The Catholic Church does no usurp this Authority from Christ. Christ gives it to His bride. The usurpers, if there are any, are all those false brides who feign marriage to the One Who Alone can Offer it.

So, you’re saying that you accept a “non-inspired HUMAN rationalization” selection process for your INSPIRED holy books?

You seem to be saying that this was a non-inspired process! Why do you accept the bible as an inspired book if it doesn’t include ALL the actually inspired books which is “should” if the purpose is to be “most inspired”?
But do the research and you’ll see what I men. To ultimately select the 4 they noticed that Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John were the most widely accepted Gospels and the most understood by the people reading them at that time.
This is why we don’t have for instance the Gospel of Phillip included as Canon. Or any other of Gospel for that matter. Have you ever really studied why and how the Bible was assembled. Josh McDowells book is excellent.
You’ll have to explain how a protestant “historian” of the selection process that the Catholic Church used is more trustworthy than the Church’s knowledge of how they selected the inspired books of the bible.

Your seeming assertion that the bible is not THE BIBLE, but only a portion of true inspired works which COULD have been compiled is rather shocking and amazing coming from one who puts so much stock in that portion of the full deposit of faith.

Im back for a few minutes, but i promise by this evening I will be done. I just have to go back to work in a second.
inchrist101 I promise it all tie in. Jesus promised he would not leave us orphans John14:18 he would send the Holy Spirit to guide and proect john15:26 he gave us the sacraments.

7 now here is why to feed and strenghten us

baptsim, Eucharis penance confirmation holy orders matrimony and the anoining of the sick. Now they are not just symbols. they are signs hat actually convey Gods Grace. and love. The sacraments were foreshadowed in the ot. by things that did not actually convey grace but merely symbolized it (see what i mean about bible only) circumsision , for example prefigured baptism and the passover prefigured the Eucharist. When Christ came he did not do away with the symbols of Gods grace he supernaturalized them energizing them with grace. He made them more than symbols. He constantly uses material things to show his Love and Power. after all matter is not evil when he created the physical universe everything he created was good gen1:31he takes delight in matter that he even dignified it thourgh his own incarnation john 1:14 whe n he was here he healed fed stregthened people thru humble elements likemud bread oil an dwine. He didnt have to but preferred to use material things to betow his grace. Remember the wed(john 2:-11) im sorry i know you know all this then the blind man with mud. then the loaves of fish into thousands then the biggie here it is Matt26:26-28 He changed bread and wine into his own body and blood. Again people will fight and argue over this because they dont understand it. Thorugh the sacraments he continues to heal feed and strengthen us. thats why we need them do you see. what i mean.

Now in baptism because of original sin we are born without grace in our souls. so there is no way for us to have followship with God. Jesus became man to bring us into union with the Father. He said no man can enter (john 9:5) this refers to baptism . THats how we are yes the Portestant faith got this one down pat BORN AGAIN. BUT SEE THIS TIME ON A SPIRITUAL LEVEL. INSTEAD OF A PHYSICAL LEVEL (Titus 3:5 we are baptised into his death and therefore share in his resurrection rom6:3-7

Baptism clenses us of sins and brings the Holy Spirit and frace in our souls i know you agree with this. Peter says it bluntly 1pet 3:21 its the gateway into the Church.

Now be back gotta get back to work its will be awhile. I swear these next ones personal goal in life is to make my life a living hell.Just kidding. be back pray for me
