Just curious…Is an Irish bear more like a fierce grizzly or a teddy bear, or perhaps depends on the situation?
https://www.wildireland.org/bears

Bears themselves are different depending on the situation. When they are not threatened, they tend to be non-threatening and mostly interested in eating, and resting, and perhaps spending some time with certain other bears.
When threatened they get fierce.

Interesting article. I had never associated brown bears with Ireland, but it sounds like there is definitely a history of them there.

Thank you. 😊

The current one I have is mine. I took a picture of a tree then edited it with the phone filters.

When I have the cartoon me, those are from the Bitmoji app. I think some others have been my daughter’s art. She’s very artistically talented.

I got my “MrZoom” (often just Zoom) nickname because I go fast in my wheelchair. I used to play wheelchair basketball, and I still do 5K races.

My profile pic is an example of the newer, more “active” wheelchair logo that is now being used to indicate accessibility in many places. I saw one in Jackson, Michigan last year (pic below).(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

I apologize if this topic has been done before.
Most of us never tire of talking about ourselves. 😅

My forum name is a lighthearted tribute to my violent Celtic ancestors; the Scots primarily. When they weren’t fighting the English they just fought each other. One note, though, the Celts didn’t have “warlords” but chieftains among the various tribes. However by using this name my initials, CW, remain true. The accompanying photo is of an Irish medieval church with Celtic Cross in the foreground and a pencil tower behind. The towers were a means developed for priests and monks to evade Viking invasions. The doorway was fairly high up, accessible only by a rope ladder which was then pulled up after them.

My profile states that I am a, “Non denominational, ex-fundamentalist, outside the box, heretical Catholic enthusiast”, which is fairly self-explanatory. 😄

by the way, I LOVE your own picture.

Thanks for the explanation on your name and picture, CelticWarlord. Quite interesting.

For whatever it’s worth, ‘Braveheart’ is one of my favorite all-time movies. Even though I am part English in terms of ancestry, I root for the Scots each time I watch it because they were in the right.

One of my favorite exchanges went something like this:

Stephen: “If I join you, do I get to kill the
English?“.
William Wallace (grinning): “Yes”.
Stephen: “Excellent!”

Another one:
King Longshanks: “The problem with Scotland is that it’s full of Scots”.

Thanks for the explanation on your name and picture,
I meant to add, as well, that I use the same forum name on eleven other discussion boards. On Delphi, however, the name had already been taken, albeit by a member who was no longer active. So on those forums I had to drop the “o” and am Celtic Warlrd. 🙂

Sounds like you get around. 😀

This is only religious forum I’m on, as there is not a Methodist Answers forum that I am aware of.

I’m also on a sports-related one, but use a different name and usually just read the articles and rarely comment. Some people can be super uncharitable on some of those other religious forums so I don’t bother.

I used to have a red betta fish named Philip.

Umbreon is one of my favorite Pokémon and that’s my avatar.

Over the years, I have been a participant on a few other (non-religion) boards. Have always used different usernames. More than once, I’ve tried to log in to Discussion Forum “A” with the username for Discussion Forum “B”…and then spent 15 minutes or so trying to figure out what the !@%$%^&**** is wrong. 🤣

Sounds like there is nothing slowing you down, Mr Zoom. I admire you for your positive “can do” attitude and your ability to get good tickets at Detroit Tigers games 😀 (another thread).

I wouldn’t want to challenge you to a race.

Those other forums are not very active compared to this one. The great majority of my time is here on CAF and is hours longer in a month than all the others combined.

Cute story. Thanks for sharing.

My kids had betta fish when they were younger and had an aquarium. They loved it and it helped them learn responsibility.

My username is not very creative. I joined when my mother was diagnosed with cancer, and I just picked something easy. It’s odd now as I don’t live in NY anymore.

My picture is self explanatory.

Hi Adam. Sounds like you are an up-front kind of guy, kind of like Nathanael the disciple, in whom there was no guile/deceit. I like and respect that.

I’ve always liked the Steelers logo/helmet and thought it was classy.
