I thought I read it wrong at first.… If someone tells me they were “slain in the Spirit”, I tell them they were demon possessed.
I just could not believe what I read.

So by this statement, I take it that you don’t follow the magestarium of the Roman Catholic Church, which has never declared the Charismatic movement, heresy, but in fact, just the opposite. This charismatic nonsense is just protestant heresy that has infected the Church. It is time to rid Christ’s Church of this charismatic baloney.
If God speaks to a person, who are you to say He doesn’t?If someone tells me they were “slain in the Spirit”, I tell them they were demon possessed.

AMEN Deacon B! I am astounded at the disbelief in the Charismatic movement. It is part of our faith. I think some reading about this (by those who don’t believe in the Movement) would be quite helpful! God Bless you, Deacon.

Are the battle lines forming?Jim R:
Amen to you also!
CAREFUL there! Do not blaspheme the Holy Spirit! Just because certain Protestant faith communities have overemphasized the Spirit to make up for the lack of the Eucharist, please do not condemn the Spirit and what He accomplishes in the Catholic church.Thank you. Well said. I agree totally. This charismatic nonsense is just protestant heresy that has infected the Church. It is time to rid Christ’s Church of this charismatic baloney. If someone tells me they were “slain in the Spirit”, I tell them they were demon possessed. Jesus said “many will say to me on that day 'Lord did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many mighty works. And I will tell them plainly, I never knew you. Depart from me you evil doers.” I think it should say " many pentecostals and charismatics will say to me on that day 'Lord did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many mighty works. And I will tell the charismatics and pentecostals, I never knew you. Depart from me you evil doers.
Wow, Mr Walker P, that was quite a mouthful. Please tell me if you are so correct, why did Pope Paul VI, Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI all endorse and encourage the Charismatic prayer Movement. Did the Holy Spirit break his promise to guide them and leave them to come and rest on you. When did that revelation happen. Pray tell. But before you say that they did not do so (as that would show that you did not read everything posted prior to your late arrival on the scene,) I would respectfully suggest that you read the entire thread before you respond to this.

I attended a couple of Fr Diorio’s healing Masses, back in 1975, when he was just starting. He was the parish priest at that parish in my town.Amen, and my sentiments exactly. We have a lot of mini-popes out there, evidently. They (the Popes you mentioned) have all called it important for the renewal of the Church, but I’m glad we are now corrected, and won’t be mislead by those who wear the ring and have the seal of Peter, who have given us such erroneous information according to the critics.
By the way, the healings and such there have been many healings, for example Fr. Dioro in the past, a current priest drawing thousands (don’t recall his name), and others. As far as slain in the Spirit, how about in Daniel when he fell and the angel was there etc. It’s actually resting in the Spirit, but there have been certain people, a couple of well know healing priests I’ve been at when he walked by sprinkling holy water on all, and blessed salt, my knees buckled when he went by, quite unexpectedly, the power of the Holt Spirit was so very strong, and I am quite certain angels were attending to this. How about in Revelations bowing down, worshipping the Lamb, how about at ordination being prostrate. All of these things and more are a posture of falling down to Him who is all powerful. How about Paul being knocked off his horse and blinded until he knew fully the truth of Him he persecuted? God works in many ways.
A priest friend of ours was at one of his healing services, just observing he said, there was a man sitting in a wheel chair beside him in the isle. He really hadn’t paid much attention to him though, but he realized he was missing part of one leg. Then out of the cornor of his eye, he saw something impossible for anyone but God. The man’s leg grew, until it was a normal leg. Glory to God!Amen, and my sentiments exactly. We have a lot of mini-popes out there, evidently. That is a creative miracle. Such things do happen. Nothing is impossible for God.A priest friend of ours was at one of his healing services, just observing he said, there was a man sitting in a wheel chair beside him in the isle. Amen Deacon Ed,What we are saying is that as much as some would have us believe otherwise, the age of miracles is not over. I too have seen miracles. I can assure you, there was nothing of Satan in what I saw.

InLight what a blessing to be able to travel to such places and see the works of the Lord through the hands of his priest. That is a creative miracle. Such things do happen. Nothing is impossible for God.
Many years ago I attended a session in Atlanta by a visiting priest from Taiwan, Fr. Richard Wang. When he prayed for people who had uneven legs, we saw the shorter leg grow to the same length as the other, right in front of our eyes. The power of God is real. I received the "prayer in tongue’ in that session.
Fr. Richard Wang is the pioneer of Catholic Charismatic Movement in Taiwan. He had conducted numerous healing sessions and many were healed. He has gone home with the Lord. Several thousand people attended his funeral. I flew oversea to attend. Forty priests said his funeral Mass together.
God Bless all........been a while since I have written here, been very busy working......I love the last two responses ......I too have seen the hands of God move in mighty ways and it is just plain foolish to think otherwise. we are speaking of our almighty Father! Creator of heaven and earth........and when we say that He is no longer moving in miracles, we are demeaning His very power! The scriptures are so clear.......and the church doesnt override scripture.....and shouldnt.
I have a plaque on my desk that reads like this.....FAITH IS........believing God will do what He said He would and everything you say and do is based upon that belief.........FAITH>
Through the hands of his servants today, God still works wonders that build up his kingdom. God is with us. He has not left us. He is here.continuing with Debs thoughts, I try to pray the Scriptures when I pray for people, but today from spiritdaily.com kind of hit it on the nail
“Grant to your servants, even as they speak Your words, complete assurance by stretching forth Your Hand in cures and signs and wonders to be worked in the Name of Jesus, Your holy servant,” was the prayer of the apostles.
Through their hands, says Acts 5:12, “many signs and wonders occurred among the people.”
