I attended Friday night’s “Kiss-in” protest outside the only Chick-fil-A location in Chicago. The small group of between twenty to thirty protesters gathered outside the restaurant around 7pm.

While there, a group formed around an elderly African-American homeless man, who was reading his bible while seated along a fence rail off to the side of the protest. Some in the group confronted the man, who was reading the bible aloud, and engaged him in theological debates. A few others took the opportunity to mock the man, which I captured on video:

Nearing the end of the protest, someone from the group wrote on the sidewalk in front of the homeless man, “He’s Really Gay Deep Down,” with an arrow pointed to where he was seated.

There was no engagement in theological debate. There were some bullies yelling at this poor man and chiding him, God and the Bible for hypocricy, thus engaging in true hypocricy.
 
Score 1 for the man with the Bible and zero for those attempting to harass him.

They call us hateful. The ones who are truly hateful are themselves. They won’t even tolerate opposing views! Instead they must berate and harass those who have opposing views.
 
Pray for those people. Counteract their hatred and ignorance with Love and Truth.
 
This is what radical secularism/atheism breeds: hatred, revenge, animosity, misunderstanding, pettiness, cruelty, hypocrisy, bitterness, entitlement.
 
What they want is not tolerance in the truest sense of the word. They want enablers and people to conform to their idiocy! :mad:

Imagine that. People who hate Jesus so much are working diligently to ensure that His prophecy is fulfilled.
 
Tears nearly came to my eyes, to see the humbleness of the man sitting their reading his Bible being surrounded by people attacking Christianity.

These are the tolerance police, just never when it comes to Christians.

Unfortunately many on both sides of the discussion can be and are guilty of this kind of behavior.
One must wonder - what type of person does this kind of “protest” attract? Is it the intellectual, deep thinking, truly tolerant? I think not. It attracts the “agitator”, the “talk first and think later” type and those who are truly and simply angry…They are seeking confrontation, not discussion - compliance to their view, not tolerance or compromise…and sad to say, Christianity has it’s fair share of these types as well…

I must point out that there has been plenty of, “hatred, revenge, animosity, misunderstanding, pettiness, cruelty, hypocrisy, bitterness, entitlement” displayed among Christians over the centuries - and even recently…

Some years ago I was speaking with a man who served with my dad in the Army. He happily mentioned that they had “beat up” a fellow soldier because they believed he was gay.
The KKK was (and maybe still is) comprised of a large number of “Christians”.
The Holocaust in WW II did not happen in a vacuum but was the result in no small part of a long standing animosity toward the Jews by the Christian community…
I’m sure other examples could be offered…

It’s fine to point out the splinter in the eye of another…so long as we are aware of our own…and take responsibility for it…

Something about this scene reminded me on how Jesus was mocked and abused and He forgave his abusers … God Bless that preacher I will include him in my prayers today… he is truely Christian… let the mob have their rant… In the end it was the preacher who stood out and over came their taunts… 👍 Sir whoever you are 😃

Except right next door in Poland people were losing their lives to save Jews. These were Catholic Christians. And Jews were fine in Europe for over a thousand years. Add to that that the Nazis planned on re-structuring the Christian church in Germany, killed priests without qualms, and murdered 3 million Polish Catholics, I fail to see how what they were doing was in any way supported by Christianity. It’s more likely that the Jewish lack of integration into the German society together with the relative high income of many Jews together with the fact that many secular Jews were Bolsheviks/Communists (which was a rival left wing ideology to Nazism) added more than any perceived hatred toward Jews because of what they may have done to Christ. In any event this would be a wonderful scapegoat yet Jews were not persecuted in Germany before Hitler and not in Poland (but for the Volksdeutsches in WW2= ethic Germans sympathetic to the Nazis) so your logic fails.

Good but look at yourself first. Don’t look at OTHER Christians, friend. Study the issue go, maybe travel to Poland and look through the archives and see how for hundreds of years Jews despite not integrating were given safe harbour in a Catholic country, and I’m sure you’ll find most European countries to have been pretty tolerant too otherwise there would not be Rothschilds and others— there certainly were no super rich Jews (or Poles) in Germany for the matter after WW2 started.

Just because some claim to be Christian, does not mean they are living a Christian life, those who claim to be Christian but do not live the Christian life are simply living a different form of secularization. One where they pay lip service to their Christianity, and then live as the heathens do anyway. You cannot say that the examples of the people you offered are truly living a true Christian life infused with the Holy Spirit, following Christ to the best of their ability.

Yes we are all sinners, this is true, but there is a fundamental difference between those who are open to and accept the Graces of the Holy Spirit working in us, and those who reject it, or misinterpret it to justify their own ungodly actions. There is not difference between the last two, they are both equally devoid of true Christian love.

But somehow Jews survived and many became very rich and powerful - eg. Rothschilds.
And no everyone else wasn’t doing well either - Europe was littered with many many wars.

So the question for you is, if Hitler’s Final Solution which was meant to eliminate all Jews was supported by Christianity - why did it take 2000 years to materialise and why were there millions of Jews, many living in wealth (better off than non-Jews) in Europe? Could it be that maybe, just maybe Christianity is not the cause or contributor in any significant way?

I have no personal issues by the way. My ancestors helped Jews in WW2 at great peril to their own lives and lives of their entire households.
 
Are you saying that other Europeans were somehow inferior? Were they all exclusive Jew haters and killers on par with Nazis or at least worse towards Jews on an ongoing basis than towards each other-- in conflicts such as the Thirty Years War?

No one is saying a distinct ethnic religious group has it easy-- but Europe wasn’t exactly a peaceful continent filled with Christian love (towards other Christians). See in that context.
