Story in short: Excommunication MEANS something. Pay attention when/if it applies to you.

That’s an understatement. It’s not an accurate source either, or for that matter even news, but an ill informed opinion piece.
Indeed. That was the most editorialized news piece I’ve seen in a while.

Of course, we pray for the repose of her soul and entrust her into the mercy of God.

I do have to wonder, though, why they wouldn’t want to have her funeral through the same venue that she has been serving as “priest”. Presumably she has a worship space and congregation that she has been serving. And yet, in death, they are trying to go back to the regular Catholic parish.

Making a choice public, invites a public response. Pray for the repose of her soul, but Jeanine made two very public declarations, choosing to live publicly as a Lesbian, and seeking Ordination. two very public sins.

The Archdiocese was correct.

It is hard to imagine someone less qualified than Ms. Denomme for the priesthood. Even if the Catholic Church could change the will of God and allow women to be priests, as an unchaste and unrepentant lesbian, she would never be fit for ordination.

But even worse is that this woman did not worship God. She worshipped herself. It was obviously all about her opinions, her desires, her sexuality, her whim about being a priest . And thus she demanded that the ancient Church founded by Jesus Christ ignore the word of God in order to conform to her caprices.

And why does reporter Jay Levine think he is even entitled to an opinion? He has no more right to say who should be buried in a Catholic cemetery than I have to suggest that he celebrate Yom Kippur with a pork barbeque. In case anyone wonders, in both cases that would be precisely zero.

If you do not believe in Catholicism, do whatever else you please. Just leave the Catholic faith to Catholics.

Another example of someone who has no knowledge of The Catholic Church writing an articile ab out it. Pathetic

Chicago ‘womanpriest’ will not be buried in Catholic cemetery
Chicago, Ill., May 20, 2010 / 04:20 am (CNA).- The Archdiocese of Chicago recently stated that a woman, “ordained” by the group “Roman Catholic Womenpriests,” will not be buried in a Catholic cemetery due to her deliberate separation from the Catholic Church.
It will be interesting how anyone who comes before The Lord at the end of their life explains to God how they determined that His Holy Spirit is either male or female and not ONE in Him.

This is a denial of the Trinity isn’t it ? Surely The Holy Spirit can work in a vessel of His choosing, because He is Spirit, and woman is no less worthy of salvation than man?

Consider what it says at the end of John’s Gospel.

"Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following them. (This was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and had said, “Lord, who is going to betray you?”) When Peter saw him, he asked, “Lord, what about him?”

Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you?” (John 21:20-22 NIV)

The other disciples sat at The Lord’s table with Him and He fed them all together, including Judas !

God bless

From this hostile source:
There are tough questions for the Archdiocese of Chicago after it denied a lifelong Roman Catholic a church funeral.
The questions are only tough if one is an idiot, or a reporter. Both issues of homosexuality and women priests are black and white. It is only because some folks never learned the meaning of the word “no” as a child that this is difficult.

It’s even more interesting to imagine that anyone “comes before God” to explain things.

WHAT?

Huh? Your response is either a non-sequitor or a straw man argument and I can’t understand it well enough to decide which.

Where in the article or anywhere in catholicism is the Holy Spirit assigned a gender? Darned if I can see it. God has always instructed us to best understand Him in the light of male roles (Father and Son, specifically), but this is not the same as God BEING a male. God is not a sexual being, so gender as we understand it does not apply to Him.

Where do you possibly get the idea that anyone is claiming that the Holy Spirit cannot work in a woman? Ridiculous. You also seem to claim that the catholics are saying that a woman is “less worthy of salvation” than a man?? You can’t just make stuff up!

What you don’t seem to recognize is that the sacrament of Holy Orders (priesthood) is NOT the only way the Holy Spirit works in humans (far from it!) and that one need not be a priest to receive salvation.

This woman was excluded from a catholic burial because she had placed herself in a position of excommunication. Mind you, this is an earthly disciplinary action and does NOT constitute a Church declaration that the woman is doomed to hell. Nor does the Church play bookie and place odds on it (though I personally ain’t betting!). Perhaps that is the source of your confusion? In the end, God gets to be God. Only He judges individuals’ final destiny. Catholicism has always said so.

Every time a woman is called by God to priesthood and refused ordination, the church is assigning the Holy Spirit a gender.

My point is, that God’s Holy Spirit uses people for the purpose of His service. The sex of the vessel is unimportant, its purity is. As The Holy Spirit works within both men and women, it’s ridiculous to suggest that a woman can’t be ordained, and therefore any rules of men that follow are a nonsense and a folly to himself.

Whilst I understand the objection to her sexuality and the potential problems it could cause priesthood, I would like you to explain how being a woman seeking ordination is a sin please.

She knew she was rejecting the Church when she went through the sham ordination. As a "life long Catholic "she knew this. I personally dont see what the conroversy is about. Non-Catholics are not buried in catholic Cemeteries.

Our Church is headed by the Successor of Peter. As such, the Pope has the charism of being infallibly guided by the Holy Spirit in questions of faith and morals. Accordingly, he has taught that the Catholic Church, in obedience to the will of God and to our 2,000-year-old tradition, does not have the authority to ordain women as priests. Consequently, any woman who claims she is called to the priesthood must be mistaken.

This can in no way be interpreted as being demeaning to women. We have the highest regard for women, and consider one particular woman, the Most Blessed Virgin Mary, to be the highest of all God’s creatures.

In your church, which was founded so that an earthly ruler could do as he pleased, you do ordain women, as well as openly declared, unchaste homosexuals. Obviously, you are following your tradition of pleasing the earthly powers. That, however, is your business. I would never go to an Anglican forum and tell you not to do such a thing. You should consider extending the same courtesy to Catholics.

But, she is a Catholic. How many people were kicked out of the crowd standing at the foot of the cross?

I asked you to tell me how a woman seeking ordination is a sin please?

God choses people to be vessels of His Holy Spirit. He chose Mary, and she was very much a woman. Given that she was chosen to physically carry the living ‘Word’ into adulthood, nurture Him and be near Him in His death, how is a woman seeking ordination a sin? If God entrusted a mere woman, then why aren’t men doing the same?

Being a woman can’t be a sin in itself, and there is no question that it is One and the same Holy Spirit that enters the lives of men and women alike; so, as long as any woman is leading a holy life, loves Christ has other qualities normally identified for priesthood, and God has called her for this purpose, then the problem is with the system that’s trying to stop her (for whatever male orientated reasons)

It’s counter productive for the church to have a body of people who are working independently from the rest of it, yet for it, as they have no authority over the proceedings.

God bless

There was no suggestion but a solemn statement made by Pope John Paul II. The Church has no authority to ordain women. Period.

I don’t agree with the ordination of ‘practicing’ homosexuals as God provides a way to serve Him without bringing such desires into His service. Any being who takes a vow of celibacy becomes simply a sexless vessel to do God’s work. Sexual differences aren’t defined by God’s Holy Spirit as it is no longer an issue.

You are also wrong that it is not my business, the Catholic Church made itself my business after I spent every Wednesday morning for four years persuading a sick woman to go back to her church because she needed to, only to be told that she can never take communion with me.

Jesus was in communion with all of the disciples, they ALL sat at His table and shared His meal together. He called both Peter and the disciple He loved to follow Him almost within the same breath too.

God bless
