Speaking about staying on-topic…

The Atlanta-based privately held company would not disclose sales or volume figures for Wednesday, saying in a statement: “Our goal is simple: to provide great food, genuine hospitality and to have a positive influence on all who come into contact with Chick-fil-A,” according to CNN. As for the fallout over Cathy’s recent comments, the company earlier said, “Going forward, our intent is to leave the policy debate over same-sex marriage to the government and political arena.”
Good for them. I hope they continue with the philanthropic efforts on behalf of traditional marriage, but they are a food company and serve everyone without discrimination. That is as it has been and as it should be. 👍

Seems a bit contradictory to be blatant about their pro-tradmarriage position while also saying, "Going forward, our intent is to leave the policy debate over same-sex marriage to the government and political arena.”

Are they really going to lbe neutral and leave it to the political arena? And, what then when SS marriage will become relatively normal, albeit sinful? :hmmm:

Of course, they won’t reveal Wednesday’s profit and volume figures. It would be embarrassing.

Embarrassing? I would think the profit and volume figures will be huge!

This is part of the gay rights stuff I don’t get. If heterosexual couples went into any resaurant and started making out, they would probably be asked to leave. Nothing wrong with public displays of affection, but when it is taken grossly out of context to prove a point, it goes beyond a display of affection to using affection to make a political point, at which point it stops being a display of affection and becomes political speech. Just as privately owned business have a right to tell political solicitors to leave, Chick Fil A would have reasonable grounds to ask people who visit their restaurant who behave inappropriately to leave, particularly if they are not partonizing the facility. No one has a “right” to sit in a private restaurant and make out with their partner and refuse to patronize the place.

Now, that said, I don’t know if the LGBT folks are going with the intent to patronize the restaurants myself. I would assume not, since they don’t want to cause the company to reap “evil profits”.
Apparently, you can be arrested for that type of behavior…

Wasn’t Paul Newman pro-abortion? How do we know that some of the charity money didn’t go to killing babies? After all, charity is not necessarily a magic word. It might mean money going to the Ku Klux Klan, the Church of Satan, or the Democratic Party.
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Post of the day!

I’ll get the information from my friend. Some cast salaries are guaranteed regardless of profits received. Sometimes even the actors put up money. Some time ago, I provided Christine with a copy of The Way, a 2010 American drama film that was a collaboration between Martin Sheen and his son Emilio Estevez to honor the Camino de Santiago and promote the traditional pilgrimage. (I hope she’s viewed it! It is a good Catholic film and I hope others have seen it, too.) What happened was that they ran out of money, and his other son, “bad boy” Charlie Sheen put up the rest of the costs of production out of his own pocket. 🙂

Financing films is a complex subject. 😉
Saw it twice! Also visited Santiago de Compostela in 2006.😃

Blackberry is still in business?
Let’s put it this way. I’m constantly finding out why I got it so cheap.

It does do what I want it to do, though, for the most part. I can listen to any radio station that’s on the web and hook it up to my stereo speakers. I can check my mail and look stuff up without going to my real computer. I can read some books on it, but it won’t sync with Amazon, so I needed to get a Kindle too. It’s also a camera. I should have gotten the Kindle Fire.

I hate touch typing. I might get a keyboard for it.

Embarrassing because the profits came from people who simplistically thought that buying a chicken sandwich was a vote for tradmarriage.

I won’t conjecture. We’ll just have to see if those folks are right and this means that Romney is a sure thing or if Obama still has even the smallest teensiest chance of being re-elected.

I think we are supposed to be boycotting Amazon, aren’t we? ;)😛

to paraphrase SamH. Source?

yet you just did.

Ach so, 🤷

I saw the movie once. It was okay. I was a little underwhelmed.
Sure. Different strokes… I’m glad the film was even made. There’s hardly a market for good Catholic films, even with a star like Sheen.

I can’t find anywhere to shop now, no Penney’s, no Target, no Wal-Mart…😛

Sure did. The Amazon founder - not Amazon itself. This was discussed to some extent on another thread.
