That’s what I’ve been saying. One can save money and have a more healthful meal by cooking at home. And free up discretionary funds in the bargain!
But that misses the point.

We should show support for organizations willing to stand up for Christian principles.

Give me one quote from any of the numerous posts here that. Just one.

I don’t eat at CFA. Never have. Nothing against them.
Could you back up that statement with a quote from this thread? Or is that Rich O “flatulence.”
The point is - you’re talking out of both sides of your mouth. On the one hand you’re saying that you don’t really care if people support CFA; on the other hand, you are devoting quite a bit of time belittling those of us who choose to support CFA.

Please point out the post where someone has said - “you’re anti-Christian if you don’t support CFA.”
:whistle::whistle:

Does the Catholic Church count as one of those organizations that we ought to support? I’d rather drop my dollars into the collection plate. (he sniffed 😃 )

So! Drop your money in the collection plate and don’t worry about what other people do with their money. That’s one of your big things isn’t it, people not telling you what to do.

The National Association for Research & Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH) is a nonprofit organization that offers reparative therapy and other regimens that purport to change the sexual orientation of individuals who experience unwanted same-sex attraction.
I knew that. I just didn’t spell out their name. I thought everyone here knew that.

Regarding the idea that one should simply give money to the church instead of to Chick-Fil-A, here’s one consideration: think about how the HHS mandate is redefining what a religious organization is and what “practicing” one’s religion means. The government proposes to define religious organizations very narrowly - churches yes, charities no. Freedom of religion is more than just the freedom to worship for an hour a week in the church of your choice. Our religion is about living it every day and about living it outside of the church, in the public square. We know very well already that Catholic (and some other) churches hold particular values and wish to protect them. But it is important to maintain that more expansive definition of practicing religion which reaches into the world beyond the church walls. Should public statements that reflect the results of a Christian belief system be permitted? Or should everyone be forced to speak the strictly secular PC language (unless actually seated in the pews)? The Chick-Fil-A situation presents us with an opportunity to make a statement about freedom of speech and religious liberty. Support for that is different from supporting the church. I’m in favor of both.

I certainly have become the cause of the day, haven’t I? Glad you are all so interested in my life. Wish you actually knew something about it before you judged it, but I guess that would kill all the fun.

Enjoy your chicken.
Seeker, seeker. I only jumped in because of all the wrangling. I had barely ever heard of this restaurant before this thread, and I hate almost all fast food except In-N-Out’s fries & Carl"s Jr’s Chipotle Chicken burger.

I only interjected because others (not I, notice!) were wondering what the source of your passion was on the issue. I’m suggesting that it might be the owner’s contributions to NARTH? (But I don’t know that he contributed to NARTH. You seem to know, based on the post of yours I quoted. Has he contributed to NARTH, and does this make you particularly opposed to him and his restaurants? That is merely a straightforward question, not a loaded one, and not a crticism.)

I was not criticizing you for your position here, by the way :), or commenting on your level of interest in the thread any more than others’ posting numbers will reveal.

The sky also did not fall for many during the Hitler administration. Watching the non-adherents of Nazism going to the gas chambers was a god send for them.
Hoorah! Godwin’s law (also known as Godwin’s Rule of Nazi Analogies or Godwin’s Law of Nazi Analogies) is alive and well and it took only 503 posts to appear. Bravo!!

Obviously you knew that. I had to look it up, and presuming that some might have shared my ignorance, I spelled it out.
OK. I thought I was the teacher, you the lawyer. Wait, are we in a classroom or a court? 😃 Just kidding!

Nor would I want anyone to tell you what to do. Individual responsibilty!

All this is making me hungry. However, being Tuesday, it is $0.35 wing day at my local watering hole so CFA will be out of luck today!😃

Comparing those that will not see the current political trends to Nazi’s is incorrect.

There were many at the time that would not see what was going on until they themselves were hauled away.
