I call myself Catholic because someone poured water on my head.
No more than that, eh? Too bad. My reasons for being a Catholic are deeper than just being carried into a church when I was still in diapers.
As far as all of those years of theology, what would that make of people like Kung, Boff, and Curran?
Go ask them.
And by the looks of that last comment, it appears that you not only view me as Grand Inquisitor, but envy the title for yourself.
I don’t view you as Grand Inquisitor at all. How I view you is quite unmentionable.

You didn’t ask me for my reasons for being a Catholic. You asked why I call myself “Catholic”. CMatt25 loves to point out that baptism is all it takes.
Go ask them.
Why would I ask them? I would rather have the Pope’s opinion. I’ve read a story that he keeps token heads of them, along with an executioner’s axe. Their educations didn’t help.

Now that is a memorable quote.

Pretty soon CAF is going to ban Chick-Fil-A as a topic.

Perhaps when this is over I will go attend something more civilized.
Perhaps a cock fight…

Because someone made 66 off topic, 0 on topic posts in one thread?

I’ve made my on topic posts. I support the Church’s teaching on traditional marriage, and I support CfA’s support of traditional marriage.

Sounds like wishful thinking. Benedict is a gentle man and would never do such a thing.

Not just wishful thinking, but too uncharitable to ascribe something like that to His Holiness.

Perhaps I should make a PS, and clarify that they are not real heads, as the story goes. Whether the story is true or legend, we know that some theologians, no matter how many years they’ve put in, do get various levels of penalties from Rome, and as head of the CDF, Benedict had his day.

You have a complete and total misunderstanding of the role, purpose, and drive of the CDF.

Benedict had his day. . . . That’s truly offensive.

It sounds as if you have bought into what some around here would call the liberal mainstream media.

You know that Benedict has a high respect of the works of Rahmer right?

Comparing those that will not see the current political trends to Nazi’s is incorrect.

There were many at the time that would not see what was going on until they themselves were hauled away.
And lots who knew Jews were being gassed a few miles away who looked the other way as well.

It’s the smugness of decrying anyone who sees dangerous warning signs in our culture as being on the fringe and paranoid that irks people.

From Todd Starnes:
The Washington Blade published the names and addresses of 110,000 Maryland residents who signed a petition to put the state’s new marriage equality law onto the November ballot. Why? To intimidate the voters? I suspect the names were not published so readers could send them Christmas cards.

Sweet, I hope my name gets out around here!

DH and I are at Chik fil A right now and they are PACKED. I guess it’s pretty clear how America feels about Gay marriage. 👍

I think that a university, and a government official should err on the side of freedom of speech. But the flip side of that coin is that there is limited vendor space in a university, so food franchises can be very lucrative. If the views professed by the vendor are in violation of university policy, I can see why the university would want them removed. To use a more extreme example, let’s say they were advocating some other form of discrimination, which is not so controversial but is universally recognized as wrong? Would it be improper for the school to revoke their lease? (when I say discrimination, I don’t necessarily see discrimination as evil. We all discriminate. However, some discrimination is evil, in my opinion).
Has NYU banned any CAIR-based (read Hamas-linked) organisations, such as the Muslim Student Union, or any overtly pro-Hamas organisations such as Students for Justice in Palestine? Of course not. It’s viewpoint discrimination. And those organisations are far more sinister towards gays than Chick-fil-A. Then again, radical Islam seems to be a protected class, while Christians are not.

:clapping:
As though you dictate what everyone at Chick-Fil-A will purchase.
:rotfl:

The facts are available.

Anyone can search out the worst nutrition or the best.
And still provide support for a company that is taking heat for support of traditional marriage.

IMO so long as you get enuff exercise. .you can almost any food you want. ( Unless its hereditary etc. )

There’s a lot that Rich won’t see. After all, he’s not a catechist, so he’s completely ignorant of the Faith.
You’re making the judgement that someone you don’t even know is ignorant of faith? That’s just wrong. There’s a reason why Jesus said not to judge others
