The Chick fil a Day …] was more political theater than anything. and really was just for show.
You’ve hit the nail on the head.
From what I have seen, the people who attended the CfA day were well-mannered, good-humored, and had a spirit of fun about them.
The fact that people were well-mannered doesn’t mean it wasn’t political theatre or done for show. It means they were well-mannered. Political theatre and doing things for show don’t necessarily equate to “Occupy”-style shenanigans.
The only ones who made “theater” were the CfA bashers, i.e. Mr. Smith.
Incorrect. The people heckling the homeless man were being idiotic clowns and bullies. They were definitely engaging in political theatre. So were the other people who were “making a point” by buying a sandwich. The latter were being civil, respectful, and decent, but were still doing it for show.
Maybe so, but isn’t hyperbole common coin on this Forum?
That’s an understatement. Sycophantic hyperbole seems to be the default response of far too many Americans, regardless of their views. It effects your ability to discuss real issues and is the reason you are so divided and dysfunctional. When everything is reduced to artificial binaries and bumper-sticker philosophy, you end up with a distorted and simplified view of reality.
We are also forbidden numerous times to be boastful about things Matthew 6:1 is why we don’t let people know what we do. “Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.”
Which is why it’s sad that so many people are puffing their chests, talking about how they’ve “supported traditional marriage”, for having bought a sandwich at a restaurant. (I’m *not *talking about you, KP3243, or anyone in particular.)

Wow! You pulled no punches.

I was going to go to a mall based Chick-Fil-A today. When I saw the long line for a couple minutes I was wishing more people were boycotting so I wouldn’t have to wait in a long line. Of course that wasn’t a charitable thought, but it did go through my mind. Nice to see the crowds are still larger then normal, at least at this Chick-Fil-A

I noticed today that the CFA near the mall here was still very busy, and the other eating establishments nearby were nearly empty. KFC had zero cars in the parking lot. It will be interesting to see how long this continues.

I have seen this as well.
The Chick-Fil-A I pass everyday has had a jammed parking lot for days now.

Eventually I am going to ask the store manager if this is perception or if the actual sales numbers have trended upward.

The CfA I pass every day was busy before this dust-up and it’s busy now. The parking lot looked the same on the big day as it did the day before and the day after. For reasons I cannot fathom, people seem to enjoy greasy, non crispy chicken and soggy waffle fries.

Love their milkshakes, but I’ll be continuing to get my chicken at Publix.

I can assure you that many people are in a quandary as to what homosexuals taste.

:nope:

I think their food is lousy, but lots of other people like it so who is anyone to say they can’t open a store? Let the market decide. Let them build it and if nobody comes you can sell it to Taco Bell.
Of Wendy’s, CfA, and KFC, I think that Wendy’s has the best chicken sandwich, but if folks can stomach CfA’s sandwich, they’re entitled to buy one and eat it. 🙂
