No, it’s because we believe there is only one Church which is the Body of Christ.I find the RC reluctance to call themselves a denomination simply posturing and equivocation.
When in the New Testament did Peter pass on his authority to the other apostles. Does your statement mean Paul was unable to ordain?Because he was the princeps of the apostles whose ministry was passed down to all the bishops of the church.
No it doesn’t.I said his leadership position as head of the Church which your own quote supports.
The Supreme Commander of the Allied forces reported to the President of the United States. The “Supreme Commander” would be Christ Jesus.
No, the commander in chief, the president would be Jesus, the field commander would be Peter. The “Supreme Commander” would be Christ Jesus.
Can you provide an example from the New Testament of anyone superceding or countermanding a decision made by Peter?Peter’s leadership and primacy bleeds throughout the New Testament.
Supremacy is a whole different story![]()
Yes to some Christians it means Christ was building His Church upon Peter’s confession that the rock was Christ the Savior and Son of God. But they might say you just can’t stop at chapter 16 and call it quits. Because then in Matthew 18:18 Christ was speaking to apostles other than solely to Peter. And he went on to give them binding and loosening power too which is what keys do.So when Jesus changed Simon’s name to Peter it didn’t mean anything? Jesus didn’t know that Simon would betray Him or try to deter Him from His mission? The fact that Peter later was a stumbling block to Jesus does not wipe away the declaration that you are Peter and upon this rock I will build my Church … I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. As Jesus knew what Judas would do so He knew what Peter would do.
But the head of the visible Church on earth was Peter. No it doesn’t.
The head of the church position has already been filled by Christ Jesus.
The Commander in Chief would be God the Father. No, the commander in chief, the president would be Jesus, the field commander would be Peter.
And Jesus obeyed the will of the Father. The Supreme Commander of the Allied forces reported to the President of the United States.
Check. Mate.

Two.House,
I would really like you to read this clear and concise view of the authority of the Pope from the council of Chalcedon. Please read this article and respond with your objections.

“The Father and I are one.” --Jesus.The Commander in Chief would be God the Father.
One substance not one person. Jesus obeyed the will of the Father.“The Father and I are one.” --Jesus.
So true. I have explained it and explained it in this thread and still folks refuse to believe… Frustrating.I think it is sad that you can show proof and explain it all out and people are still too stubborn to believe.
Sometimes these threads are like beating a dead horse.
Sounds all pretty but that’s not consistent with scripture nor the history of the church. But the head of the visible Church on earth was Peter.
Jesus is the Good Shepherd, right? Yet, just prior to His ascension, He specifically names Peter as the shepherd responsible for tending and caring for His flock?
Isn’t Jesus capable of doing that?
So, why name a vicar?
Because in OUR weakness, WE need a visible shepherd to follow.
Pretty straightforward.
One God in 3 persons would totally make Father, Son, and Holy Spirit Commander in Chief. But whatevs. One substance not one person. Jesus obeyed the will of the Father.
After your mocking and personal tone in our last exchange, I have no desire to engage in conversation with you anymore. Can you provide an example from the New Testament of anyone superceding or countermanding a decision made by Peter?
Can you name anyone in scripture (other than Jesus, of course) who had greater authority than Peter?
Thanks.
