another example of where things are going

I’m not sure what your point is? The Catholic Church certainly has its “rebel” priests and bishops as well. It is clear that many Anglicans (most perhaps) are outraged by the “gay marriage” ceremony of these two - which was committed in direct violation of the Anglican bishop in London. Homosexual “marriage” is an issue tearing the Anglican Church into pieces, literally.

But the CC has its own priests and bishops ordaining women in direct violation of Church teaching… and this too is an issue that the laity is divided over. Do we accept this dispute as evidence that the CC is not the True Church? I certainly don’t. So, why would a committed member of the Anglican Church think that the present controversy among their episcopacy is evidence of the falsity of their beliefs?

At best, it seems to show only that there are sinners and deceivers within every church community. Is that your point?

Peace,
-Robert

I did not mean this to put down the Anglican Church and I know we have are own problems. Just pointing out that the world in general is has officially lost it’s mind. It was just a piece of news I found could be discussed. Just as I would have posted if this had happened in the cc.

In this sense I agree with you - the world has lost what little mind it ever once had. 😦

No, the difference is the Catholic Church doesn’t sanction it, they do, God doesn’t sanction sinners but they still sin.
Doesn’t sanction it? They hid it, ignored it and said that it didn’t exist for decades. All you can say about it is that the RCC doesn’t sanction it.

I think it is conceded that there are sinners in every church community, including the Catholic community. And one grievous group of sinners includes those who did nothing while innocents were made the victims of child molesters. In a different way, homosexual activists are attempting to use the Anglican Church to give a veneer of Christian morality to what is clearly a relationship based upon a sinful act. Again, I think the best point to be drawn from the OP is that the world has truly lost whatever sense it once had.

Two things here. First, when you speak of sinners and wrongdoing, you include all churches. When you speak of righteousness, you only speak of the RCC. This has really proven to be typical in this issue. Secondly, the Anglican church as a whole does not approve of homosexual activity or unions. You are speaking out of school there. TEC and CoE are two primates of the Anglican communion and they are also not in compliance with what the Anglican church worldwide teaches. This is why you are seeing parishes all over the U.S. leaving TEC and joining other diocese such as Uganda as our parish did last year. Homosexual activity and unions are unbiblical, anti-biblical and wrong.

A quick response:

(1) First, I was not speaking of the “righteousness” of the Catholic Church (or its members) anywhere. I was conceding the fact that there are sinners in all church communities, even Catholic communities. How does this comment make Catholics righteous and non-catholics less than righteous? That certainly was not what I intended to communicate. “All have sinned.”

(2) In my earlier response I think I made a point of stating that the Anglican Church (which includes the Episcopal Church in the USA) for the most part does not approve of gay “marriage.” So, I don’t think I’m speaking out of school here, unless we’re both speaking in error. I’m in agreement with you on that point.

(3) I agree with you that homosexual unions are inherently disordered, as is the activity upon which such a union is based. Again, I don’t know what we are fighting about.

Did you think I was someone else?

Peace,
-Robert

Thank you for expressing yourself on this. However, there is not need to hate anyone except the one who’s behind all of this…don’t even want to say his name. To sound a bit corny “be angry but sin not.” There is such a thing as justified anger. So I relate.

Be at peace, I am okay. I am communicating with people from my past to address problems as opportunity arrises. But I’m not official or anything. Just working on it. I’ve been asked to do something very big and it sounds really awsome. So pray for me. This may be a way for me to get back where I was 29 years ago.
I will pray for you this evening, Good luck on whatever God has planned for you.👍

Dr. William Oddie…former Anglican Priest. Now Catholic. Statistically you are in a dying dramatically declining ecclesial community. But since you are in fact Catholic you just aren’t open to listening to truth anymore. That’s all I hear oozing from you.

Why are you so angry?

Where you are getting your statistical info. from, I have no clue. What you are mistaking for my anger is actually your undying strive to be correct in everything without contention.

SIA,

Since you are Anglican you should be considerably more circumspect about the sexual abuse scandal. As was pointed out earlier…the Anglican Church in Australia has had huge problems similar to those of the Catholic Church in the U.S.

Likewise, the Canadian Anglican communities have also had similar problems. The Carribou Diocese in Canada declared bankruptcy because of the lawsuits and subsequent fall out.

As I said earlier…this is a huge problem affecting every Church and walk of life. So far the media focus has been on the Catholic Church. I have no problem with the truth. Where we have had problems we also need fixes and reforms. The same is true everywhere else, and until all of the other institutions with problems own up to their difficulties, solutions will be slow in coming there too.

www.ewtn.com search for the so called stats yourself. I’ve heard some very high numbers you’re from what I hear. You accusation of me wanting to be 'right" is just your method of hiding fromthe truth. Doesn’t work. Try again.

It’s always the fallen away Catholcis that make such bitter enemies. What’s up with that.

May I respectfully make the following suggestions:
  • The debate over the abuses that have occurred with Catholic priests is off-topic and should be discussed in another thread.
  • The abuses perpetrated by Catholic priests for the most part involved pedophilia, not homosexuality.
  • Any anger anyone has should be directed at the misguided bishops who transferred these priests instead of getting rid of them, and not at the entire Catholic Church. These bishops, together with the abusers, do not the entire Catholic Church make.
  • I, for one, did not interpret the OP as an attack on the Anglican Church but to point out that it seems the whole world, in general, seems to be going to hell in that proverbial hand basket.
  • Since pedophilia is a terrible sin, crime and sickness, instead of bickering with each other, we should be praying for the victims and the abusers, no matter who they are or whether or not a priest was the perpetrator.
  • We should also be praying for all homosexuals, that God’s will be done in their lives.

Well said GemmaRose. I agree wholeheartedly.

Thank you this was never ment to somehow say HA see what is happening in your church. I am a RC and hope that alll christians question such things happining in Christian churches. Also I might add that every time some one brings up a problem that seems to have arose in another christian faith, the charge of sexual abuse is brought up. First, it has probably occured in your church to and also this thread had nothing to do with that. Sexual abuse is bad and Male Clergy marrying each other is not only bad but also completely a different topic.

Why does it always seem to take a woman to slap us guys around and straighten us out…

I’m sorry if I offended anyone. I’ve had a touch time with all the proselytizers in my life and family for that matter. But this topic hits me hard for many reasons I won’t go into. Praying is much better than arguing. That is what I opt to do now. LOTH. Rosary and praying from my broken heart.
