Nothing odd about it… she is dishonoring what her son did by undermining the soldier’s morale. Period. **Her family has even said so. **And nope… I will not keep my opinion to myself about it. Ppl like her… and the groups she supports are trying to ruin this country.
Ruin this country? In what kind of a country is it okay to revile the grieving? Is that what our political polarization has come to? Let’s hope not. Besides, this is not just an American forum. It is a Catholic forum. “Love is patient. Love is kind… Love is never rude…” you know what I am getting at. To love the difficult is our duty, too.

Let’s put it this way. The President himself would never tell this woman that her grief or her way of expressing it was a dishonor to her son–not publicly, not privately. Period. I don’t agree with a lot of what he says, but I believe he is genuinely feeling the grief that is coming his way. He is a decent person and one who is willing to be responsible for what comes of his decisions. Whatever her family says to her or about her… that is their family business. You are not in her family. You, like the President, might try to summon the good grace to stay out of that aspect of it. For those of us who have not made this sacrifice, to do otherwise is just incredibly presumptuous and unfeeling. Mr. Bush and the US military will either hold their heads up on the merits of what they’re doing, or they won’t, but I will wager that most of them won’t sell the tears of a comrade’s mother for a boost in morale.

So go ahead and say she is misguided, or mistaken, or has been lied to, or whatever, and rant all you like against the people you think are using her, who are absolutely fair game, but please have the measure of gratitude and human compassion to respect her grief and her right to deal with it in the best way she knows how over whatever amount of time it takes her. In other words, cut the poor woman some slack and do not forget your gratitude towards her, she deserves it, and let’s pray we never personally know how much.

Well BLB…The woman is a disgrace. And as one who has buried more than my share of family and friends from war…I am NOT going to coddle her. She is a nitwit! She did not lose him last week…it’s been a year and she gets nuttier as time goes by. Never mind she is disgracing her son and **Our fallen family **members and friends. DON"T EVEN try the poor Cindy routine on me.

I’ll be glad to offer her a box of kleenex and a good swift kick!
I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m not about to tell you that you don’t know more than I do about what Mrs. Sheehan has lost. I worry sick about my loved ones in the military, and I am grateful for your sacrifice and for the continuing support you give those who fight on. Your selfless example is a humbling one. But surely, don’t you thank your lucky stars every day that you have been given the grace to pick up the pieces and go on, that you have been given the vision to make some meaning out of your loss? That grace is such a gift. Not everyone is given a meaning… that is poverty, not disgrace, to be pitied, not reviled. Correct her facts, point to a better way of dealing with your common loss, even argue with her, but if you can find it in you, defend the reality of grief enough to refrain from insisting that she not grieve in her own way. I would say the same to anyone who thinks that you are misguided or have no right to back up the President with your last breath–their argument with you must never neglect honor of you. This is even more fundamental than the duty to honor the office of the President, whether in agreement or in dissent. It is the honor of common humanity, of shared mortality. You are the one who has made the sacrifice and is dealing with that loss. Your grief is your grief, to live as you must, and no one else’s.

Let’s have the shoes off when we’re on holy ground. That is all I am saying.

Cindy is not Holy Ground when she disgraces our boys. I will not stand silent to allow the woman to disgrace our country and our families. False pity does not serve her or anyone else. I know a self absorbed nutcase when I see it and the woman is not insane…she is pure narsacistic and full of her own pity. She needs help all right. But not the kind she gets with patting her on the back and claiming her temper tantrums and potty mouth are just a phase due to grief. Balderdash!

Enablement for her bad behavior is not going to help her grief. She will consume herself with her own hatred. The people supporting her could care less if she flames out and crumbles. They have an agenda and it has nothing to do with Cindy.

I don’t think you understand what I’m saying, because I didn’t say you needed to agree with her or stand silent… let alone keep hands off others not in her position. I didn’t lose a loved one, but I can’t stand silent and hear the mother of a fallen soldier called a self-absorbed nutcase. You have been where I have not, I can’t argue with that, but it just doesn’t seem right. You perhaps know better than I what is enabling or not, but I cannot see where roughly refusing to enable is either patient or kind, nor where “tough love” excuses rudeness. She could be opposed gently. Still, I somehow think you’re going to stand on your right to disagree with me, from a position on which I have never stood and in no uncertain terms, so I will leave the question at that.

We agree to disagree. 🙂 I pray for her and her family. I will not enable her evil by saying it is her right as a grieving mother. God did not say “go ahead and sin” because your grieving. The lady has much to answer for.

Prayer is good…and more than that she will not get from me. I will stand to block her nonsense at every turn. She will NOT be allowed to dishonor our families just because she is and unstable fruitcake.

I suppose that nothing honors a democracy like civilized disagreement, does it?

We all have much to answer for, so I doubt she is an exception. Prayer is less than she gets from most on either side, and something that none of us can get too much of… so your gift is the best. And again, I thank you for the sacrifice you have made for us. You’ll be in my prayers, too.

Marie, you are right on the money. Thank you for standing up for what is right and true. 👍

BLB, you have a good heart and you mean well for Cindy but you’re missing something. It is good to correct Cindy kindly and gently but these people with and behind her are not going to let it stop with that. Sometimes you have to speak plainly. And loudly. Cindy is not listening to facts. She spouts off misinformation. The amount of lies coming out of this camp is just blowing me away. How they get away with it is amazing to me.

We are not saying that anything physical should be done to her or mental or verbal abuse. But we are frustrated that they are fighting on the side of the enemy!! They spew lies, they are breaking down the morale of our troops!!! They are giving hope to the enemy and therefore motivation. And people say that she is supporting our troops??? How?? These are volunteer soldiers who believe in what they are doing. To be told that it is all for nothing is nasty, untrue and putting our soldiers at risk. It is hard to fight when your loved ones believe that it is all for nothing. Her son had to fight the enemy** and his mother** to do his job. He re-enlisted because he believed in what he was doing. I heard the story: His mother is begging him not to go and he tells her that he has to leave. His buddies are going now.

Cindy’s grief does not give her the right to lower the morale of the troops and give hope to the enemy.

I don’t believe it’s all grief, anyways.

Most of her supporters do not realize this. Many of the organizations she is affiliated with beleive those killing our soldiers are freedom fighters and openly call for the defaet of US forces.

Yikes!! estesbob, Do you know the names of those organizations? I’d like to have that piece of information for my family when we get into that discussion. Thanks. Sue

Thanks, Gilliam.
Gilliam beat me to it. I wonder how one can say she is not dishonoring her son when she associates with groups supporting the people that killed him!

Is it possible that she doesn’t know?

She may be too busy with giving interviews, being served papers of divorce, and her mother’s stroke to really know what is going on. She seems to be working for the camera and giving interviews an awful lot. I think she’s a little bit “drunk” with publicity. That’s a lot for anyone to handle.

Don’t get me wrong. I can’t stand what she’s doing but I think that this is a lot bigger than she realizes. Talk about being used.

I say continue to pray for Cindy for she is grieving and she will come to one day and be shocked at all she did during this time.

Will this get as much media attention as Cindy Sheehan has:

**NAMPA, Idaho – President Bush today took direct aim at Cindy Sheehan, the anti-war protester who has set up camp near the Bushes Texas ranch and purports to speak for military moms who, like her, have lost a son in the Iraq war.

Speaking to hundreds of Idaho National Guardsmen, the president singled out military mom Tammy Pruett of Pocatello, Idaho, whose husband and five sons have all served in Iraq.

"Tammy has four sons serving in Iraq right now with the Idaho National Guard: Eric, Evan, Greg and Jeff. Last year her husband, Leon, and another son, Aaron, returned from Iraq, where they helped train Iraqi firefighters in Mosul.

"Tammy says this – and I want you to hear this – ‘I know that if something happens to one of the boys, they would leave this world doing what they believe, what they think is right for our country.’

“And I guess you couldn’t ask for a better way of life than giving it for something that you believe in. America lives in freedom because of families like the Pruetts.”

The crowd, made up mostly of military family members, broke into cheers and chants of “U-S-A! U-S-A!”**

That is an amazing family. They really found the opposite of Cindy Sheehan. How did they ever do that?

I think they found him. There is a lot of outrage among families who have lost loved ones in Iraq and/or are serving in Iraq. The “Gold Star Mothers” organization, founded in 1924 , is livid about her co-opting their name to push her agenda. They have even posted a disclaimer on their web site that they are not connected with her in any way shape or form.
