It occurs to me that the protest camp requires a lot of infrastructure - water, food, potties, etc. Wonder who is paying for all of that?

Wonder when they’re going to officially join the terrorists?

Unfortunately, the Knights of Columbus and the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights aren’t organizing anti-war demonstrations. 😦

This leaves a vacuum in which organizations of the “left” are the ones going out into the streets to bear witness to a concrete application of the teachings of the Catholic Church on war and peace.

Consequently, Catholics who are committed to those teachings have to piggyback on the anti-war demonstrations of the lefties and work alongside them. Still, as long as Catholic anti-war activists make no compromises on matters of faith and morals, they can cooperate with the lefties, comfortable in the knowledge that they, the Catholics, are complying with the Church’s wishes:

**“For this reason, all Christians are urgently summoned ‘to practice the truth in love’ (Eph. 4:15) and to join with all true peacemakers in pleading for peace and bringing it about” (Vatican II, Gaudium et spes, section 78).

Here’s a practical suggestion: when you bear witness to the Church’s position on war by attending a demonstration or candlelight vigil in support of Cindy Sheehan, wear the T-shirt with these words: “Pro-Life Anti-War.” You can obtain it from this site:

cafepress.com/godspystore

Also, to get your candle for the vigil, go to a supermarket that serves a Spanish-speaking neighborhood and buy one of the eight-inch votive candles with Catholic images. For example, you can buy a votive candle with the image of the Immaculate Heart of Mary–an especially appropriate image in the light of the peace message of Fatima.

Keep and spread the Faith.

Nor should they. :tsktsk:

No and you not about to.

UM! I think I’ll pass…thanks anyway.I will send her a book on etiquett though. Maybe a list of good words/vs bad words. A course on public speaking and how to get your message across without starting a riot/inserection/dingbat circus and maybe some soap to wash her mouth out with. I happen to make a nice batch of Lye soap. Old family recipie. Yes! I could handle that part. 🙂

But the lefties are not protesting the war. They are supporting the terrorists. Did you read the article? Their position is not a matter of dispute. They signed on to the Istanbul declaration.

I fail to see why any Catholic would associate with and give comfort to those–Medea Benjamin for instance-- who supported the totalitarians regimes John Paul II helped bring down but that is another matter.

When I informed my family that the code pink crowd sent approximately $500,000 to support Iraqi dissidents, they were shocked. Words fail me in wondering why I spent so much time as a leftist. How stupid was I to believe their lies that they actually cared for us.

Seems to me that such activity is, or should be, illegal and that those engaged in it should be prosecuted. I would hate to think than one of our soldiers was killed by a weapon which had been paid for by a fellow American. This is really beyond disgusting.

Our soldiers and Iraqi innocents are being attacked.

On some other threads, gilliam, Vern, and Hagia Sophia were bashed for saying that protesters were giving aid and comfort to the enemy. This sure vindicates them.

I will gladly put myself in their company because I feel the same way about the protesters. There was a caller on Laura Ingraham’s show last week who is the Father of a Marine in Iraq. The Soldier told his Father that they depend on the Iraqi people to inform them who is working with the insurgents/terrorists. When the Iraqi people see protests all over about the War, they become afraid that we will pull out and they will suffer serious repercussions, like torture/death at the hands of the terrorists for ratting them out and so they become silent. We know what that spells out for our troops.

I really admire the courage of this woman. It is so sad that she had to lose a child. I am very sick of this war myself, and I would like to see us get out of there ASAP! I think the president is spending so much money, he is going to bankrupt our country. Congress should never have authorized this war. The Pope didn’t approve of it either. just don’t know what we gain by shoving democracy down the throats of people who couldn’t care less. I know my opinion will not be popular, but that’s just too bad. I lived through Viet Nam, and, believe me, we don’t need another one of those! We do have the right to defend ourselves, but to my knowledge, Iraq never attacked us. So what on earth are we doing there? If you use the number of people Saddam killed as the reason, then why is killing more people going to make it better?

What courage is that? She had the entire liberal establishment behind her. The media covered up her marxists rants. She will be set for life by the billionaires who fund the extreme left in America.

You would think that would be a form of treason.

We all suffer from trying to apply simplistic uninformed remedys to serious problems and in the process contribute to or abet serious harm.

Let me give you an example:
When Rhodesia turned independent and became Zimbabwe, they held elections. Two polical parties were denied participation because they refused to abandon violent tactics. President Jimmy Carter, THE MAN I VOTED FOR, instituted sanctions until these violent parties were included because Carter thought that democratic . Thanks to Carter, the Marxist Mugabe not only rules Zimbabwe but has destroyed that county. Zimbabwe was once called the breadbasket of Africa. Now they are starving. Mugabe took over farms, persecuted whites and finally attacked the blacks in his now pathetic country.

It took me years to understand that those say they are principled may be very dangerous
