This sicko is planning on marrying a 7 year old and claims she has ‘reached puberty’
Code:
* Cleric already married to girl, 12
* "Plans to wed others aged seven and nine"
* Defends act - says wife has reached puberty
INDONESIAN police are investigating a wealthy Muslim cleric who married a 12-year-old girl and is reportedly planning to wed others aged seven and nine, a spokesman said today.

Pujiono Cahyo Widiyanto, a 43-year-old businessman and cleric from the Central Java city of Semarang, has courted nationwide controversy over his decision to marry the girl, who comes from a poor family.

Mr Widiyanto has defended the marriage, which is his second, saying the girl had already reached puberty.

“We are investigating the case. We are now gathering witnesses and then we’ll look for evidence on what laws the man might have broken, and we’ll follow up from there,” national police spokesman Abubakar Nataprawira said.

Muhammed married a 6 year old. We should congratualte him for waiting a year.

From the link posted above:

*Mr Widiyanto has been backed by some high-profile Muslim figures, including Hilman Rosyad Syihab, the deputy head of the Islam-based Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), according to the Detikcom online news service.

Islam allows for marriage regardless of whether a girl has reached sexual maturity, Mr Syihab was quoted as saying.

“It is not a problem under Islamic law,” Mr Syihab said.

Detikcom also said Mr Widiyanto is planning to marry two more girls aged seven and nine. *

Can those muslims who post here please help me to put this in the correct perspective  From your religous perspective. Obviously, on a civil level, you would agree with me that castration would be the order of the day 😦

I’m sorry… There is something wrong when a 43 yo sees a 7 yo as spouse material and not as daughter material… seriously wrong!

This seems to be typical of Mahometanism. When the Shah was deposed, the government of Persia lowered the female age of marriage from 18 to 9 in honor of Mahomet.

I confess there is NO GOD but Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and Jesus is God Incarnate risen from the dead!

It is a clear case of Muslim see, Muslim do.

If Muhammed could do this, why should we not allow everyone to do it.

If I ever have a daughter, God have mercy on the man who tries this.

I won’t

I have always said… son or daughter… anyone messes with my kids… they better pray the cops find him first, because they have to follow rules… I don’t. There is not a court in the land that would prosecute a parent for harming the person that harmed their child as long as it is in the heat of passion… and even if they did… I would be willing to pay that price

It shows you the power that a cult can have. People willingly allow their children to be abused for their “god”

I wholeheartedly disagree with this Muslim thing.
EDIT: I realize this above sentence is not perfectly clear.
I mean, I disagree with the Muslim belief on this and especially Muslims still practicing it today. One of the many reasons why I drifted away from considering Islam early on in my faith journey.
I did not want it to sound like I said I disagree with everyone being upset about this.

I do not mean to be rude…but with your above comment, isn’t the so called “heat of passion” kind of be pre-meditated since you already know before hand that you would already exact revenge on someone.

I know I am being “that guy” but shouldn’t we pray to act as our Lord would act if He were a parent of children in a situation like this?

I also know this is easier said than done, it is just a thought.

I am not saying to be passive, but one should not stoop to their level, right?

At least he is willing to marry his young partners. Unlike some priests whom I could name.

You are correct on both parts: it would be pre-meditated and it is not the way of Christ.

However, I am not sure that Christ ever said that I had to allow my children to be hurt by a pedophile.

Ouch!

This is different. Christianity does not condone such things, in Islam there is nothing against it. There is a difference between a person being corrupt and their religious system having corrupt teachings.

By your same logic, I could say then that no man or woman could be trusted because there have been people who cheat on their spouse.
Or that no parent can be trusted because there are parents who sexually abuse their children. Maybe that parent would have been better off marrying their child first… (rhetorical…)

I do not understand why people seem to have this mentality that those few priests are the only people on the planet who are guilty of molestation.

This is an offensive statement and not related to the issue at hand.

At no time has the Catholic Church taught that it is acceptable to molest anyone. This is not the cas with this Muslim.

Further, the odds of being sexually abused at the hands of a Catholic Priest are much, much lower than non-Catholic clerics.

Please refrain from making anti-Catholic hate statements.

Exactly…“turn the other cheek” was not meant as a passive kind of teaching. This is shown somewhat when our Lord got angry at the money changers.

It’s tough, because you wonder which reaction is the Christ-like reaction?

That could be a-whole-nother thread.

In fact, Christian clergymen in general are far less likely to molest children than are public school teachers and psychotherapists. Men in those two occupations are much more likely than the general male adult population to identify themselves as atheist, agnostic or members of minority religions such as Buddhism and paganism. Of course, the occupational group most likely to molest children is career criminals, who tend not to align themselves with any religion very often.

You are right… What my point was… I can know this will be my tendency, that is to protect my kids… and I can even know that I would accept my consequence… but that doesn’t necessarily make it premeditated… it means I know myself that well… if dh doesn’t stop me, I probably would injure the offender. But yes, we are all called to prayer and forgiveness… I just don’t think Jesus is done perfecting that in me yet…
