I stand corrected on this point then. I thought the priest had created his own church with heretical beliefs.wait a minute, he was a monsignor and he refused to close his church and disband his parish community along with several other parishes in the diocese who pettitioned the vatican that their parishes could not be closed under canon law, the vatican upheld their claims. the parishes were ordered to be reopened. So, there was no heresy involved, there was disobedience involved. The priest believed that in concscience he must disobey. The whole thing has been about disobedience not heresy. The breakaway church if they really are a breakaway church refused to reassimilate into the newly reopened church and the priest in question resigned knowing that he would not be reassigned to his former parish, which is a non-geographical parish and continues on as the community of st. peter.
There is no heresy involved, and it is curious that the bishop has excommunicated during this period of the abscence of a pope.
