@upant Your comment about “allow me to pour” reminded me of what I learned as a new Army officer’s wife about who gets the honor to pour the coffee at social events. It seems that the coffee out ranks the tea and the tea out ranks the punch according to the little etiquette booklet “Mrs. Lieutenant”. What that meant was the honor of pouring the coffee went to the wife of the most senior ranked officer and so on down the ranks! Being the wife of WO, I never got beyond the punch. This antiquated blast from the past gives you youngsters a glimpse into the military social structure of about 50 years ago. I think that I will go pour myself another cuppa since I feel a mid afternoon slump approaching. :coffee:

As I recall in the Air Force social circles it was all about wine. The higher rank your spouse the more you drank! 😂

@Convert3 Well yes, there was imbibing going on at social functions when it involved the military sponsor either with or without the spouse. Hopefully with in moderation for the sake of the military career. But what I was referring to was the ladies formal teas and similar get togethers. It was fret with all kind of dos and don’ts to the uninitiated which I definitely was!

@Convert3 LOL! Either military branch differences or my memory doesn’t serve me that well. But I honestly don’t recall any alcoholic beverages during afternoon functions unless someone spiked that punch I was ladling out! I never would have known since I always drank the coffee.

Well that’s a new take on good to the last drop!! 😂 Too funny! A never ending pot, love it.

Can’t sleep? Coffee. Can’t stay awake? Coffee. Just had a break up? Coffee. Coronavirus lockdown? Coffee. Need something to drink on a cold day? Coffee. Need something to drink on a hot day? Coffee. The answer is coffee.

With maybe a little something added at times!

Yeah no. There are people here under the legal drinking age, so coffee without whiskey.

I read, that if your coffee is tasting kind of soapy or tinny, that you should probably stop putting soap or tin in it.
