I did have a lot of jokes — I had a lot of jokes about Cabinet members, but I had to scrap all of those because everyone has been fired. You guys are going through Cabinet members quicker than Starbucks throws out black people.
We’ve got our friends at CNN here. Welcome, guys, it’s great to have you. You guys love breaking news, and you did it. You broke it. Good work.

The most useful information on CNN is when Anthony Bourdain tells me where to eat noodles.

Fox News is here. So, you know what that means, ladies: Cover your drinks. Seriously.

People want me to make fun of Sean Hannity tonight, but I cannot do that; this dinner is for journalists.

We’ve got MSNBC here. MSNBC’s news slogan is, “This is who we are.” Guys, it’s not a good slogan. “This is who we are” is what your mom thinks the sad show on NBC is called. “Did you watch ‘This Is Who We Are’ this week? Someone left on a Crockpot, and everyone died.”

The claim, by RR, was that ™Dems questioned - actually condemined - her having the baby, having established that the baby would have Down’s syndrome. I would him to support this claim.
There were several kinds. One, of course, which is easy to find, is the assertion that the baby was actually the child of Sarah Palin’s daughter. All of that was a long time ago and a lot of Palin hate was on TV, but there are still some of those articles if you go back into history enough. Some were, of course, the “oh we feel sorry for her, it will be such a challenge” kind of articles designed to encourage other women to abort instead of having a Downs child.

Here’s a commentary on one. http://www.feministe.us/blog/archives/2008/08/29/seriously-cnn/

Some have been removed after creating a firestorm of criticism. http://wonkette.com/443395/greatest...s-treasury-of-trig-palin-crap-on-his-birthday

But they exist. As the inveterate researcher you are, you will surely find some of them.

I’m appalled at some of the things Trump has said and I’m embarrassed to say I even voted for him.

But nothing he has said has come close to condoning murder and making jokes about it.

She was hilarious. Here’s my favorite:

“You guys are obsessed with Trump. Did you use to date him? Because you pretend like you hate him but I think you love him. I think what no one in this room wants to admit is that Trump has helped all of you. He couldn’t sell steaks, or vodka, or water, or college, or ties, or Eric. But he has helped you. He’s helped you sell your papers, and your books and your TV. You helped create this monster and now you’re profiting off of him. And if you’re gonna profit off Trump you should at least give him some money, because he doesn’t have any.”

Forgot about that one. Yep, it was a stupid things to say as well.

But none that you can come up with to support the the vile idea that Dems condemned her for having the child. Thanks for clarifying.
If you don’t want to see what’s there, then there’s nothing I can do to help you.

Making fun of him in a comedy routine is the same thing.

Bill Maher is a poor example to use a Democrat.
Liberal yes.
Progressive yes.
Democrat no.
He claims to be a registered Libertarian. I heard that from his own mouth on his show.

I thought the substance of Ms. Wolf’s jokes was funny, and fair game. Sometimes, her language was inappropriate for the room.

Any claims that she was “bullying” Ms. Sanders (for example, that made by Mike Huckabee), or anyone else, are ridiculous. Ms. Sanders (and Ms. Conway) leave themselves open to satire by their own actions and words. And anyway, these are powerful women who have nothing to fear from a comedian. If they can’t take the heat, they shouldn’t be in the White House.

The claim that Ms. Wolf was mocking Ms. Sanders’ appearance is just plain without basis in fact, and can be dismissed (also, on that subject, I remember Jimmy Kimmel, a few years ago, outright mocking then-President Obama’s appearance, and Obama taking it in stride).

That’s all. This is a tempest in a teapot. A comedian made some jokes. Some people are taking this as an opportunity to engage in a little recreational outrage.

It’s nothing.

Probably it wasn’t especially inappropriate for the particular crowd at the dinner. Likely they engage in “locker room talk” more vulgar than men in an actual locker room. But in public it’s asking all of us to be in the locker room with her.

Everybody went berserk and got the righteous vapors when Trump said some similar things in a private conversation that he had no expectation would ever be made public. But for a liberal comedienne in public, it’s okay, I guess.

Maybe. Maybe not. If you’re alluding to the infamous Billy Bush recording, Mr. (then) Trump wasn’t joking. That is a real difference. How important that distinction is to you is up to you, of course. To me, it wasn’t that big a deal. In New York, we’ve been watching Trump for decades. That he would talk like that wasn’t exactly news to us.

Ms. Wolf was joking. Yes, her jokes were a bit barbed, and I do think the foul language was unnecessary. But satirizing and mocking our leaders is a long and honorable tradition, going all the way back to Aristophanes, and probably further. I think it’s healthy.

As I said, I think this is a bit of a tempest in a teapot.

It is.

I think it very odd to be offended at her at the same time giving trump a pass on his many offensive outbursts.

I think comedy that’s televised should be clean in general. But she’s a comedian. Not the US president who takes to Twitter daily to insult people.

Well, I think it was the adultery and the sexual assault aspect then the particular words used by Trump.
Neither of which he said he did in that interview.

Anything to defend a liberal, no matter how vile her tongue. And anything to attack Trump even if one has to make it up.
