yes, we all have different tastes when it comes to comedy, but some comedians might think they are funny, but they really aren’t. i have watched many on Netflix only to turn the comedian off 10-15 minutes into their act.

When ever talking about someone being funny there’s an implied person or group of people whose senses of humor are inescapably part of the conversation. My interpretation of the above is that there are some comedians that might think they are funny to some groups of people, but those groups don’t find it funny. With different audience there may be different results.

Dave Chapelle makes me laugh. I can’t watch his shows multiple times and still be entertained. But were he put in the Correspondent’s dinner I’d expect him to make many in the room uncomfortable and some combination of offended and appalled. But there will be some people that also find him funny but don’t want to show it because of judgments being made on their response.

Country music fans were idiots to blacklist them. Those ladies are awesome artists.
That’s rough. It is not idiocy to not want to support political messages you do not agree with. There is a lesson for entertainers and celebrities in this. Playing politics instead of entertaining might well cost you money, popularity, and opportunity in your profession.
Money, power, celebrity are not worth your soul or pride. Thinking they are going to make you happy is Satan’s empty promise.

George Bush started an unjust war in 2003 when he ordered the invasion of Iraq and broke the Middle East. How many lives have been lost because of his lies about WMDs? It was all a scam to make money for Halliburton.

“Just so you know, we’re on the good side with y’all. We do not want this war, this violence, and we’re ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas.” - Natalie Maines, 2003

Amen!

The reaction of country music fans was shameful at the time and foolish in hindsight, because history has proven her right.

“Not Ready to Make Nice” is a great song that tells the story so well. It’s a part of history of our nation that hope young people learn about.

Are you comparing Natalie Maine’s to Kathy Griffin? I guess they both have two X chromosomes, but other than that they have very little in common.

How many lives have been lost because of his lies about WMDs?
The Iraqi government contracted with Britain to remove chemical WMD found in 2013. I believe the last time the Brits removed some newly-found WOMD was in 2015. Of course, Canada took all the yellow cake shortly after the war.

both their careers took a nose dive after they decided to makw political statements.
the Dixie Chicks were a favorite of mine at one time back in the days of innocence.
the same cannot be said of Kathy Griffin. i never liked her.

Then you had better update the rather long Wikipedia entry that details the entire history of WMDs in Iraq, because none of what you said is in there…

No comparison. Kathy Griffin was foolish. The Dixie Chicks just had foolish fans.

I don’t usually rely on Wikipedia if there are other sources. Here’s one. It only goes to the discoveries in 2011, but it details how thousands of poison gas shells were found after the war. One of the reasons it wasn’t widely known is that the allied forces did not want terrorists to get their hands on any of them.

I’ll look for the later discoveries later. But this does place some very large discoveries as late as 2011.

i wonder how the other two women in the group feel about her remarks. it put a quick end to their financial earning power as well.
i would say Natalie’s ego got the best of her. don’t blame the fans.

The Secret Casualties of Iraq’s Abandoned Chemical Weapons - The New York Times
From your article:
The United States had gone to war declaring it must destroy an active weapons of mass destruction program. Instead, American troops gradually found and ultimately suffered from the remnants of long-abandoned programs, built in close collaboration with the West.
This does not exonerate the Bush administration for lying about Saddam Hussein’s active WMD program. It was still all a pack of lies.

Looks like they just finished up a tour together and have released a live album.

this is old news. i do not begrudge them a career. their music was great. i never attended a concert. maybe they will make some new fans.

I loved the Dixie Chicks… loved the voices until they started going political… 🎵
