Newbie2, would God have us eat human flesh and drink human blood if He forbad it in the OT?
It isn’t human flesh and blood. It’s divine.

And even if it wasn’t, we are not bound under Mosaic Law; it’s called the old covenant because it’s been fulfilled in the new one.

I had a catholic poster quote me the words of Jesus when He said He did not come to do away with the Law and Prophets but to fulfill them. The poster seemed to tell me we are still under the law.

What part of Jesus was Human?

Either God has the ability to do what Catholics claim He does or he does not. It is that simple. If he does not have the ability, he is not omnipotent. If he does have the ability, the issue becomes if that is really what happens or not

It is not human flesh as if I cut off your arm and ate it. It is in all appearances bread and wine. That way, we are not physically eating a leg.

What part of Jesus was Human?
His human part. Fully human, fully divine, that sort of thing.

Why, do you think that Jesus’ “human-ness” was just a shell that his divine nature inhabited? That he was an apparition? That he lacked a human nature?

=Libertarian_FL;6110981]John 6 indicates a metaphore that Jesus is the bread of life and that only He is the path to the Father, true but has nothing to do with the Lord’s Remembrance as stated in the Four Gospels.
It may seem metaphorical, but it is also predictive, in that it points to the actual eating and drinking of His true body and blood, as He calls us to do in His sacrament.
The other NT books are not the books where Jesus laid upon the world His teachings through four vessels. And are for me commentary and historical as to the works of some of His followers most of which deviated from the example of Jesus and the Way as it was meant to be. In other words unless Jesus demanded that this ritual be done for salvation its not a sacrament its something less but one even I support as a spiritual good, like a Christian doing charitable works.
John 6:51 - “I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”
This is a clear command that if we eat this bread, we shall live forever. Then He describes the bread as His flesh.
This command is not contradicted by Paul, but rather supported: 1 Cor. 10:16 “The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?”
So unless Jesus said overtly all who believe do THIS its NOT a sacrament. That leaves just one Baptism that is mandated by the Lord Himself.
In the accounts of the Last Supper, He tells us to “do this(do what? eat His flesh, drink His blood!), in remembrance of me”. Again, a clear command.

I’m not sure what you are asking. I believe He died as a Human, without sin, without blemish. He had to die as a Human to pay for the human sin nature and human sins, IMO. The God part of Him, if I may put it that way, did not die, again, IMO.

Perhaps I misunderstood what you were asking:
What part of Jesus was Human?
Let me rephrase it, do you share the belief that Jesus was fully human and fully divine at the same time?

I gotta go, but this is an interesting discussion and I’d like to catch up later on today, OK?

Was St Paul being symbolic when he said “For anyone who eats and drinks without recognising the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgement on himself” (1 Co 11:29).

Did the Israelites symbolically eat the lamb for Passover, or did they really eat the lamb?

Did Adam symbolically eat the fruit, or did he really eat the fruit?

I believe that Elizabeth’s choice of words to Mary was divinely inspired; “Blessed is fruit of your womb”. Mary is delivering us the new fruit to undo the fruit that Eve delivered. Eating it is His commandment.
Charlie, your pts are well taken. But I would only say in response that when we recognize in our hearts and minds how Christ gave up His body for us, then we are indeed recognizing what St Paul admonished us to do. And yes of course the Israelites ate the real meat of the lamb just as Adam consumed the fruit from the tree. I have a difficult time understanding however how we eat human flesh, glorified or not. And again I resort to Christ not having died yet at the LS. Yes I know it is a mystery of faith and one would say Christ is capable of producing his body for the apostles to eat before His death. But one thing I do believe. Christ came to undo, to fulfill. We no longer need to actually physically eat sacrificial lamb. As Christ in human form sacrificed His flesh and blood for us. And it this I hope we can eat, believe together. Peace and blessings on your walk.

Richard Wumrbrand (spelling?) is a Lutherian pastor from Romania. He spent 14 years in communist prisions for being a Christian church leader who would compromise his teaching for the communists. There were clergy from other denominations including catholic priests. They all were brothers in Christ. They were often beaten. When Pastor Wurmbrand speaks he has to do so from a seat because the bottoms of his feet were so severely beaten. He tells of a priest forced to say the mass over human excrement and urine. I dare say that was more inspiring and the presence of the Lord more real than at many of our churches where there is no real suffering for Jesus.

What is this Thread about Communion,Can you give us a little more then just Communion, that makes no sense
Let me make sense of it for you… There are different understandings between catholics and non-catholic Christians over communion. Let’s look into the issure and discuss our differences and share what the Bible has to say on the issue of communion.

Christ is not present in the communion bread.Despite His words to the contrary.
Why eat a piece of bread or whatever at worship service then? How does this eating of bread or whatever bring one into communion with Christ?
A question is a question not a point you silly bunny:D

And just as importantly, how does eating simple bread unworthily bring condemnation on someone?

Didn’t Jesus say where two or three are gathered in His Name, He’d be there?

Can we take Jesus’ word that He’ll be with us? And note no mention of communion.
Matthew 28:
18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 “teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo,** I am with you always, even to the end of the age/**B].” Amen.

What is the purpose of communion as far as Paul is concerned?
1 Corinthians 11:
23 ¶ For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread;
24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”
25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”
26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.
As for being called a silly bunny (which to my knowledge I’ve never been called that before) I guess one could make the argument that I’m a little fuzz ball.
