China orders Christians to replace crosses and images of Jesus Christ with portraits of communist leaders

Another example of religious oppression in communist China

CARLOS GARCIA

The communist Chinese government is ordering some Christians to take down religious symbols, including crosses, crucifixes, and images of Jesus Christ, and to replace them with communist leaders, according to a new report.

The startling report of religious oppression was reported in Bitter Winter, a religious liberty magazine.

“All impoverished households in the town were told to display Mao Zedong images,” said a local pastor to Bitter Winter.

“The government is trying to eliminate our belief and wants to become God instead of Jesus,” he added.

The order was made in April when communist party officials visited believers’ homes in the city of Linfen, located in the northern province of Shanxi.

The officials said that those who were receiving financial assistance from the government would have to take down their religious symbols and replace them with portraits of Chairman Mao and President Xi J(name removed by moderator)ing. If they refused to do so, they could face the loss of their welfare benefits. . . .

Not surprising, since Marxists’ goal is to abolish religion:
Communism Aims to Destroy Humanity by Attacking Culture and Morality
This is why self-admitted Marxist “Black Lives Matter” is so dangerous.
Yes, Marxism is bad, but the “Black Lives Matter” movement is not Marxist, and please don’t do digging up that quote from the website - the quote that nobody cares about and is irrelevant to the vast majority of people that support the cause of racial justice.

“We disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement by supporting each other as extended families and ‘villages’ that collectively care for one another, especially our children, to the degree that mothers, parents, and children are comfortable,” the section continues.
“We foster a queer‐affirming network,” BLM adds. “We actually do have an ideological frame,” responded Cullors, “myself and Alicia, in particular, are trained organizers.”
“We are trained Marxists,” she added. “We are super versed on, sort of, ideological theories.”
In the “What We Believe” section of the official BLM site, the organization calls for the “national defunding of police” and for the “disruption” of the nuclear family.

“We disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement by supporting each other as extended families and ‘villages’ that collectively care for one another, especially our children, to the degree that mothers, parents, and children are comfortable,” the organization writes as part of its mission statement.
“I don’t know how many people really look into the mission statement of Black Lives Matter, but I did,” Wiley said. “Children from single parent homes vs. two parent homes. The children from the single parent homes…five times more likely to commit suicide, six times more likely to be in poverty, nine times more likely to drop out of high school, 10 times more likely to abuse chemical substances, 14 times more likely to commit rape, 20 times more likely to end up in prison, and 32 times more likely to run away from home.”

As I said, that is not what the vast majority of people in the movement believe. They are not Marxist, despite what the Daily Wire and the dailycaller say.

Really?

I care about a self-admitted Marxist influence within the Black Lives Matter movement.

But my biggest problem with the Black Lives Matter movement is that only SOME Black Lives Matter.

The lives of the pre-born Blacks have gotten no attention from the Black Lives Matter movement.

A sure-fire way for me to know the movement is phony.

It is a political Marxist movement that politically profits off of black people for itself.

Another way to know it is FAKE is thepat Black child’s lives that are fatherless don’t matter either.

And another way is the selective outrage regarding Black lives that get snuffed out. But dealing with Chicago’s black-on-black crime and murder situation will not profit these guys politically.

No Leaf. Black Lives Matter is definitely not a helper of “racial injustice”. At least that is my opinion.

This is just plain wrong. It misunderstands Marxism totally and encourages this weird narrative that Marx was the first person to talk about oppressors and the oppressed. That also is obviously not how most people consider “racial justice” - they do not want white people to “capitulate” (what does that mean?) to black people.

Honestly I would argue that an oppressor/oppressed dynamic is barely important in Marx. He critiqued capital as an alien social power that robs us of agency and forces a great mass of the population into greater misery. “Oppression” is not a direct product of the bourgeois class necessarily in Marx, at least not as you’re describing here, but a product of social relations based on the need for the constant accumulation of capital.

That is precisely what intersectionality means.
Identity politics, regardless of the source, is racism.

And yet more people enjoy a higher standard of living under free market capitalism than any other economic model.

I am absolutely serious. It is no accident that those who worship the altar of racial and social justice are almost always avowed socialists.
“But let me offer you my definition of social justice : I keep what I earn and you keep what you earn. Do you disagree? Well then tell me how much of what I earn belongs to you - and why?" ― Walter E. Williams ,

But you have not yet shown there is a significant Marxist influence in the movement. In my area in Minnesota there the lawn signs all over the place with “Black Lives Matter”. That is in rich neighborhoods and poor neighborhoods alike. There is no indication any of them are Marxists, and I think they would all be quite surprised that you think their movement is Marxist.

My compliments to the organization Black Lives Matter for the clever linguistic trick. They know that all but a tiny few of Americans share the sentiment, the lives of American blacks do indeed matter, and will say black lives matter. Most have little idea the political philosophy of the organization’s founders.

Why do folks call China “communist China”?

Does it need a hyphenated name.

They are not the founders. The movement was founded two years before those present “founders” even got involved.

Then leaders.
Nope. They aren’t even that. This is a grass-roots movement that is not beholding to any central leadership.

Yesterday I watched the mass for the Feast of Blessed Solanus Casey, a Detroit hero and Capuchin priest. In the homily the priest cited memoir of a black doctor:

Do you think it inaccurate? Do they deny communism?
No, but why do they get a hyphenated name.

We aren’t called Democratic USA or Monarchy UK.
Well, the USA would be republic, not democratic, but the history of it is the differentiation between the communist dictatorship on the mainland and the Republic of China on Taiwan.
I actually think the description is less accurate now that a couple of decades ago. With the veneer of faux open markets, it has become more fascist.
