Comparing Mary with the other Bible superstars. Who's more honorable?

Let’s not forget that Mary comes immediately after God in the hierarchical structure of the heaven followed by St Michael the archangel.

I’d love to know in what sense you think a woman ‘has’ a man who is every bit as likely as not to dump/divorce her when he discovers she’s pregnant with a child that isn’t his!

When I said “Mary had Joseph” what I had in mind was the time after Joseph accepted her and her pregnancy.

And I think the God who created Mary well and truly had prior claims over her - body, soul and all - than her human husband. Joseph, being a devout Jew as well, understood this too. THAT is why firstborn sons were taken to the Temple - they belonged to GOD, not to the parents.

The approach of this “God” wasnt creative enough. A lot of fears & heartaches would have been prevented had there been 2 angels who appeared to both at the same time. That would have been more fair.

1. You are incorrect about Eve not having discovered sex. Genesis 1 says, “Be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and subdue it.” How do you expect for them to have done that without sex?

Adam & Eve figured out what “multiply” actually meant after the intelligence boost. The first time they had sex and actually multiplied was in Genesis 4:1. Read it.

she stayed at the foot of the cross while the rest of the apostles except for John hid in fear. Please do not insinuate that she should have carried His cross. None of the apostles did.

Mary had less reason to fear than the apostles. I’m sorry but I have heard of better women who risked pain & humiliation all for the sake of easing the pains of a dying child. Mary did nothing extraordinary. Rather her actions, or lack thereof, were less than ideal.

The Catholic Church believes each of the patriarchs to be a Saint.

and yet paid very little homage to the folks who actually founded the worship of one God.

1. Jesus did not need to come as an infant. He could have came anyway he wanted…He could have come as an adult. He came as an infant, born of Mary. Mary was chosen specifically to be the Mother of Jesus. To paraphrase Father Corapi, “If she is good enough for Jesus, she is good enough for me.”

Dont you have any idea why Jesus had to come as an infant? Tell me. Hint: blood.

Have. Doesn’t say that this was the first time that they had sex. Just said that they had sex.

The Bible mentions many people having sex and then having children, but that doesn’t mean that it was the first time they had sex. (Check out 1 Samuel for an example.) The mention of them eating the fruit from the knowledge of Good and Evil is the first mention of them actually eating food. Are we to believe that this was the first mention of them eating anything?
