I also pray alot and it makes me sad that I am not worthy because I cover up to have an image to maintain to sell these diamonds and wear nice clothes for clients that others here would judge my heart. I dont like be judged.
I deal in ethical diamond exchange. I dont like to be gained up on by irishmom or you. It hurstme.
I lost 2 friends.

I think you are blowing this out of proportion … no one was ganging up on you …I just happened to see this thread today and was reading through it … sometimes I do go out of the prayer forum … your job and your personality don’t seem to go hand in hand … but that happens in people’s lives … I don’t judge you by what you do for a living … I just understand now where you were coming from.

My dear friend, please let’s just leave this misunderstanding to what it was … a misunderstanding. Your post was a bit confusing so I asked about it … I probably should not have.

I have nothing but the utmost respect for you … and I appreciate your friendship.

God Bless you.

Most Catholics tell me that it’s not okay for girls to show their stomach.
I would think it has to do with WHY the girl is showing her stomach. We have to realize that the intent of BOTH the person wearing the clothes AND the clothing designer.

If a girl is showing her stomach to be sexy, than is arguably immodest.

MOST guys don’t take their shirts off to be sexy, except perhaps the few that are extremely ripped. Most of us men (and boys) don’t have bare chests that would be considered sexy to women.

However, a large percentage of women DO have a bare chest / belly that many men would find sexy.

Studies show that men are simply more sexually stimulated visually while women tend to be more sexually stimulated mentally/emotionally.

The porn industry understands this greatly. This is why they develop female targeted porn with better actors, stories and plots, while good acting & writing are not necessary in male targeted porn.

Leading porn addiction psychologist Dr. Peter Kleponis has a number of speeches and talks on this subject; plus the scientific data to back it up.

That’s a new one on this catholic!
I actually have heard this from a few guys. They explain it away by claiming the stomach is sacred because uteruses…basically.
What?! That’s just cray-cray.
They really think that way?

While my daily dress is pretty modest (no cleavage, nothing shorter than midi-length, well fitted but not overly tight pieces) I do wear bikinis and have no reason to change that. Both of my swimsuits are the retro type cuts you find from the 20s-60s so no chest or bum is hanging out. I choose to wear a two-piece for practical reasons. First, I find two-pieces more comfortable than a one-piece. It’s the same reason I don’t like bodysuits or leotards, I feel too encased and it gets sweaty. Second, it’s easier to go to the washroom. I feel like I have to peel myself out of a one-piece to use the bathroom. This is especially distressing in public washrooms when you are trying your best not to touch anything and keep hygienic. I want an easy operation in those spaces. I’m comfortable with my decisions and don’t care if I’m judged by the prude police.

Getting used to anything. That is why for years fashion designers wanted “bold” and “daring.” But nothing is bold or daring if some women dress the same way as prostitutes. Stay away from beaches which are filled with deluded teens and women in their underwear. A young lady who would not be caught dead in public in her underwear wears as much or less on the beach.

Just be honest.

Where whatever you want…jesus loves you.
My style is not my or dsx2 or ddhx2
they all love Jesus.

I don’t ever show myself shirtless in public anymore although I used to think nothing of it.

In regards to the washroom at least, couldn’t that be solved by having a two-piece where the top extends far enough down to cover the stomach?

Would that make you feel better? I’ve already expressed comfort about my choices and have no reason to please anyone else’s opinion on the matter.

I have no idea if it would make me feel better. I was just pointing out (more for general benefit than specifically for you, though in retrospect my phrasing probably didn’t indicate that) one can effectively wear a one-piece (in terms of how much it covers) while still having the bathroom benefit of a two-piece.

I loved how I looked in those types of two piece bathing suits but they never worked well in the water…the top just loved to billow up! Wouldn’t stay down and in place! They may be better constructed now and use better materials as this was years ago. I never wore bikinis but I did wear a regular type two piece or a one piece…and one pieces were terrible to get up and down, especially when wet…for bathroom duties!

Now that I’m old, I’m pretty much relegated to a one piece…fine for swimming but not for other necessities! Almost makes me want to give up swimming…noooooo!

I’ve tried on the whole tankini business and agree. It’s always moving around and is irritating. Rising up, twisting to the side, I can’t deal when I’m just trying to relax at the beach. Makes me feel like I need to keep trying to tuck it in.

Fantastic post! ❤️ I never saw that encyclical. Thank you very much for all the information.

Guys are ugly-nobody cares.
Really? What about all the cute guys out there? I care - it makes me very uncomfortable when men don’t dress modestly.

Look at some of the 1940s movies like The Jackie Robinson Story (he played himself in the movie). Men and women used to go to baseball games like they went to church! I guarantee that you wouldn’t see that at a baseball game today (provided there is a baseball season this year, obviously).

If men start to dress modestly women will follow.

I always wear blue jeans (not too tight) and a t-shirt. I have some very short shorts that I only wear at home, and it mystifies my mother when I refuse to go out in said shorts.
Also, I wouldn’t mind if guys dressed more modestly, either.
