If someone compared Trump to Stalin, I would find that also extreme. The thing is people usually call anybody they don’t like nowadays Hitler.

Trump is nowhere close to being like Hitler, Stalin,
I wasn’t really comparing Trump to anyone. You inferred that. I was making a point about backing someone because the US did. It is not always right but I bet there were many Americans including Catholics who welcomed Stalin to our side. And I’m done here.

Sorry for the trouble my post seemed to cause. I’m going to remove myself from this. You don’t need it and I don’t need it. Good day my brother and sisters. Mods you can remove my account. That’s a record one day!

You do realize that the previous Democrat administration openly threatened Catholic institutions with the HHS contraceptive mandate?

That they’ve been resistant to allowing Catholic health care workers to have freedom of conscience to refuse to engage in immoral “health care” treatments?

The Democrats like to pretend that people voted for Trump for no apparent reason, but there were plenty of reasons to vote against the Democrats.

I have requested my account be removed. Mods seem to be ignoring the request.

What treatments was it mandating? I thought the conflict was that those catholic organizations didn’t want to provide the coverage of birth control and some procedures…not that they mandated someone had to have them. By not covering birth control, the organization was, in a sense, not allowing non catholic employees to receive treatments or medication. Could you explain? Have I misunderstood the argument? Thanks…

Am doing this in a hurry because I got something coming up, but here’s a sample:

Accounts generally do not get removed, even if the poster gets banned.

Unless the poster has an offensive username or something, but, I am not sure if those are really removed or they just make them impossible to search for.

It is also evidence of Godwin’s law. Stalin and Mao Zedong were pretty bad, I’m surprised people aren’t compared to them more often.

Ah, I see you beat me to it. We are on the internet, Godwin’s law is going to be a big issue.

I’m very much in favor of allowing conscientious objections to medical procedures due to religious beliefs. No argument from me there!

I do have a problem with a religious organization making medical decisions for their non or other religious employees. No one is forced to take birth control or have a vasectomy but by refusing to cover those, they are making a medical decision upon the non Catholics.

If the organization takes any government money, then they should have to follow government regulations for coverage. If, however, they are strictly a religious organization employing only fellow religious with no government help, I support their right to define what they will or will not cover. I think it’s a straight forward determination of which one it is.

No they are not. The Catholic institution is not preventing them from paying out of pocket for those things.

Two issues, however.

First, what is “necessary” healthcare.

Second, nobody is forced to work for a Catholic institution or a Catholic employer.

If you can’t afford a medical procedure without insurance paying it’s share, that’s a denial of care. You can make this argument for birth control as it is pretty affordable…but a tubal ligation, vasectomy or a medical treatment for ectopic pregnancy? These are not affordable by the vast majority of workers. To refuse to pay is to refuse the procedure.

What if they’ve been working there for years. This policy change is recent, no? I think it used to be a covered expense until Obama care.

And I agree, they don’t have to work for them…as long as the denial of coverages is explained at the point of hire.

I’m not sure a Catholic entity would refuse to treat an ectopic pregnancy. I guess depending on how it’s done.

Tubal ligations and vasectomies are one-time things, so just sabe up if you want it so bad.
I just googled it and a tubal is about $7000 and about $1000 max without without insurance. That’s really not that much to save up for a typical American.

Thanks. I’ll hang in there I guess. The fire storm my post created was a bit disturbing and I felt although I could have stated it differently I felt it was obvious what I was making a point of.
