I am so embarrassed to be in Illinois … This state has the worst politicians on every level!
No, I would think New Jersey is the state with the worst politicians. We have such a liberal voting record that the rest of us get lost in the sauce.

It just motivates me more to speak out on our politicians’ voting records. Also I regularly write them, and I can tell you, they seldom write back with anything that makes any sense…usually it’s just an invitation to see them in Wash. for their weekly stale donuts and coffee gatherings. More reason to pray for good leadership in Illinois with real morals and ethics.
Calling and stopping by their offices is especially meaningful. I used to stop by my rep’s office on the way home from work…a couple of weeks ago, my sister was shocked when after a conversation on an issue I whipped out my cell phone and called my rep’s office…speed dial!

And you got our bishop too… John Meyers… wasn’t he shipped out to you guys?

Maureen, are you related to the Fiore’s that owned a grocery store chain in PA?

Nineteen Roman Catholic members of Congress have written to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi urging her to “correct the public record” on remarks she made a week ago on NBC’s “Meet the Press” about the Catholic Church’s teaching on abortion.
“As fellow Catholics and legislators, we wish you would have made a more honest effort to lay out the authentic position of the Church on this core moral issue before attempting to address it with authority,” said the letter, delivered to the speaker on Tuesday.
“Your subsequent remarks mangle Catholic Church doctrine regarding the inherent sanctity and dignity of human life; therefore, we are compelled to refute your error,” it added.
Mrs. Pelosi had said the Catholic Church has been divided over abortion and only in the past 50 years has believed that life begins at conception. The remarks were quickly condemned by the bishops of New York, Washington, Denver and Pittsburgh as well as the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.
Catholic officials have stressed that despite different understandings over 2,000 years about when life begins, their church has always considered abortion a grave moral evil.
The signers of the letter asked Mrs. Pelosi to “rectify your errant claims and apologize for misrepresenting the Church’s doctrine and misleading fellow Catholics.”

Not much is more irritanting than someone altering the catechism to suit their own agenda eh?
I think the Bishop of Denver, Bishop Chaput, said something about Nancy that went along the lines of “a gifted public servant of strong convictions and many professional skills” but adds that “regrettably, knowledge of Catholic history and teaching does not seem to be one of them.” Here is that link if anyone wants to learn more. catholicnewsagency.com/new.php?n=13625

I’m ashamed to say I am in Durbin and Obama’s district here in IL. Durbin has no right to call himself Catholic. I wonder which parish he attends?
Oooh, I know. I’m sure that I can’t say it, but they have a big festival downtown each year where many find their future spouses (at least he frequents this parish whenever he does decide to attend mass).
