So, I can either buy a cookie for $2.00, or send my wife to get me a cookie, where she’ll get it for $.50. I think the $.50 version of the same cookie will taste better.

I am legally blind. How much do I have to pay for MY cookie? Will they give me a VERY BIG cookie so that I don’t loose it? hhhmmmmmm. . . .
 
Whether abortion is defended by Rich or not, getting back to the thread, I am very firmly convinced from a common sense of decency that affirmative action is punishing the children for the sins of the ancestors. How very UN Liberal is that. I guess only Black children get helped because of the sins of evil white ancestors.

We are punishing children for actions of someone elses ancestors in many cases.
And we are provideng restitution to people that were not wronged.

And it gets even more bizarre…I know a women that gets benefits from affimative action that was not born here. Her ancestors never suffered from some supposed wrong in America’s past…she just happens to have the right skin color.

Afirmative Action addresses manifestation of PRESENT inequalities in opportunity and institutionalized discrimination and oppresion. While some of these factors certainly have historic dynamics at play Afirmative Action is not a form of Reparation for sins of the PAST.

It’s not there “to make up for slavery.”

Remember though, these are republican college students, most likely of the Van Wilder type. That wasn’t cream in those doughnuts and that may not be chocolate chips in those cookies.

Racist as it is, it boils down to vote grabbing. One of the first slaves who educated himself and became a politician said that black folks would never fall for the pandering of handouts by the Democrat party. Well, some things have changed and some have stayed the same.

He lived in a time when such pandering was obvious.
Those that continue today are much more subtle about it.
