I believe that Muslims who follow and emulate a man like Muhammad are misguided. How can you see goodness in his actions or in his book the Quran?

Vickie
Vicky, it’s not that the guy never did anything good…in the same hadith portraying him in the worse colours ( according to our teachings), there are hadith showing good behaviors…he had good and bad…you will find the same about Smith or even Adolf Hitler when relativism is at work…and do not forget that there is the a priori belief that whatever Muhammad did, it was good…it “must” be good even marrying a woman married previously to his spiritual son “must” be good no matter what logic/morality says.

Yes, you’re right, but the bad outweighed whatever good he did. Why would anyone emulate someone like that? Can they even tell the difference between good and evil?

Well, I suppose there must have been some good in the Marquis de Sade! 😃

It means you are not a booklover. You have never seen a BOOK.

Please be kind and honest. Do not be a judge. Look at what the other people are saying. Muhammad was the greatest man on earth in the history of mankind. Please see the book " 100 greatest men of all times" by michael Pollard. should be available on the net, can be searched. It is written by some learned non-Muslim person and he has placed Muhammad at number one.
See about the book below:

The list below is from the book 100 Greatest Men (Grolier Educational: Danbury, Connecticut; 1997), written by Michael Pollard.

So it is better for you to keep your complements away. You are spreading Hatred. Thanks.

First, this dude was an engeneer, not a historian or sociologist or anything that would be trained in looking at the impact of a man’s role in this world, so from that standpoint, it is just one dude’s opinion.

Second, and more important, he split Christianity between Jesus and Paul. This is an unfair and illogical split. Paul would not even be a footnote in history had it not been for Jesus. Now, if he wanted to remove all Christians who improved Christianity from the list, so be it, but Jesus is was more important that Paul. We would still have the faith had Paul never been born.

This man was a man with an agenda, and it was not to promote Islam.

Wow, Muslims looooove to trot out that “100 Greatest Men” book! This must be at least the fiftieth time I’ve seen a Muslim refer non-Muslims to that book. And that recommendation always includes something about how the author isn’t even Muslim, as though that must definitively prove that everyone should follow Mohammed. How tiresome!

If I recall, Hitler and Stalin made the list.

And the reason I recall was since Muhammad had success during his lifetime, he outranked Jesus.

Actually, when it comes to history (what I got my degree in) I would argue that Martin Luther might make number two. We know who’s number 1.

In a lot of ways, I can justify putting Mohammad as number two. I can even see how Hitler and Stalin made it. It is not the 100 BEST people, but the 100 most influential ones. No doubt that the world was changed because of them.

There can be no real question that Jesus is number one. Besides, the Qur’an has Jesus. Jesus never mentioned Mohammad.

This link provides not only the full list, but two introductory paragraphs from the book that specify that “greatness” is not necessarily “goodness”. It seems that the main criterion by which a person’s is determined on the list is that they left their mark on the age that they lived in.

So it’s okay for you to believe that I am astray, but not for me to believe that you are astray? 🙂

What an interesting about-face you appear to have made here. Apparently you’ve taken your home and Catechism classes that you announced just yesterday (!) and decided already that you’d prefer Islam? That certainly was quick. Are you sure you’ve spent enough time in prayer and honest reflection about this?

And why did you make this thread if you pretty much had your mind made up? That seems terribly dishonest of you.

I will see the full list later. The fact that Pollard put religion first of all things (above other worldly things) is another good point in his favor. Then Pollard put Muhammad on top of the list for some reason. He was not a fool. And please do not get after pollard now. You have done enough damage by maligning the prophet Muhammad in many bad ways. That is hatred.

I am sure you will not be happy o hear any bad thing, bad report about Jesus, right or wrong report. But you seem to enjoy the adverse remarks about Muhammad. It is better to refrain as being a christian and claiming love for the enemy, you should refrain from bad remarks.

Now you are trying to downplay an honest man Pollard. he has given his opinion with some research and trouble. Please do not deny or disrespect his decision. Just admit that according to Pollard Muhammad is the number One Greatest man of all times. Thanks.

You are committing a logical fallacy by regarding a man’s subjective comments (allegations) as scientific facts. It is funny to see Muslims approach people praising Mohammad due to personal reasons with much love and devotion to the extent that whatever is written is considered either scientific or divinely inspired.

Pollard has his own hatred toward Christianity and Christians alike, which you somehow fail to see. Enough with taqiyya! 😉

You are right about one thing: we are not happy to hear Muslims read bad reports and lies about Jesus from their scripture. 😃

I see that poor Waraqah is no more the first person on your list of honest men.

Who is Pollard so that I can trust his so-called researches with no evidence? I would rather respect Salman Rushdie, who said the truth about Mohammad in a humourous way. :rotfl:

Pardon me, but is this post directed at me, or did you just quote my post with reference to the link I posted? If it is to me, then I am quite bewildered, as I don’t recall ever having maligned Mohammed, either in that post or any other. I am critical towards what I see as objectionable in Islam, but that does not extend to Mohammed’s status as the prophet of Islam. Honestly, I have no problem with that, as he is not a prophet of my religion to begin with, so for me saying Mohammed is a prophet of Islam is akin to saying Ganesh is a god of Hinduism: A statement of fact about a belief system that I do not agree with. If you believe Mohammed is a great prophet of God, one of the greatest men ever, etc. etc., fine. It is your right to do so and I respect that right, even if I do not agree with your view. We will continue to disagree. There’s no need to refrain from honest and peaceful disagreement.

(Of course, if your reply is not directed to me, then my apologies for wasting your time with this reply!)

I concur. Tahirah, many in this thread (Muslims and Catholics included) took your questions in good-faith only for you to make an about-turn to reveal that you masqueraded as an inquisitive person.

You are only making the sincere Muslims of this forum look bad, rather than boost their morale and ego. Seriously, shame on you.
