If it is a “warning,” then it is just one of about a million such warnings throughout the course of history. Of course the hand of God is in it. He continually reminds people that they do NOT have the power over their lives and nature that they think they do. Will people convert and change? Some will, the majority won’t. That’s the way it has always been and will be until Jesus comes again.

Covid-19 is a part of God’s training program, designed, decreed, scheduled from all eternity for the human race, in order to train the human race to be joyful saints in heaven.

Our struggle and tribulation while journeying towards our ultimate perfection through the dramas of evil and sin is the cost which in-prints the virtue/ nobility into our souls – the cost of our road to nobility and perfection.
In this world man has to learn by experience and contrast, and to develop by the overcoming of obstacles (Lactantius, “De ira Dei”, xiii, xv in “P.L., VII, 115-24. St. Augustine “De ordine”, I, vii, n. 18 in “P.L.”, XXXII, 986).

In His training program God designed every obstacles down to its minutest details, and He also designed His aids for us down to its minutest details, the way He aides us we will able to overcome every our obstacles.

At the end of our training program in this earth, we will be joyful saints in heaven.

So, why would God warning or punish us when we FREELY will what God wills us to will, and we FREELY do what God wills and causes us to do?
The truth is, God neither punish us nor He warnings us, He is training and teaching us.

It’s certainly something that has been allowed and I believe there is a corrective aspect to it.
If it is chastisement, it’s important to remember that chastisement is done out of parental love. I think that is something that people have a struggle with when we think of what it means to be chastised.
What I will say is that it’s happened for a reason, and it’s done for the good may come out of it, even if we don’t fully understand it.

God was getting rid off all sinners from the earth, because they are very sinful and hurt Him for a long time.
Unless they all kneel down, bow Him and repent.
For the faithfulness to God, He spare.
GOD WAS FAITHFUL to protect Daniel in the lion’s den. GOD WAS FAITHFUL to spare the lives of Shadrach, Meshech, and Abednego when they were thrown into the fiery furnace. GOD WAS FAITHFUL to care for Elijah when he was so depressed he begged to die. GOD WAS FAITHFUL to deliver JESUS from the grave by resurrecting Him back to life on the third day.

It’s way beyond my pay grade to say whether the present pandemic is a chastisement or not. It could be.
As chastisements go, though, it’s pretty gentle. Ponder this:

- Electricity and water are still on — most “stuff hits the fan” scenarios presuppose the loss of one or both
- At least in this country, the government is handing out free money — it may get absorbed back later in the form of inflation, but sometimes you just have to act in the present moment, and deal with consequences later
- Again, at least in this country, the weather is very mild — some places basically didn’t have a winter to speak of
- We have more forms of connectivity than we know what to do with — Mass and devotions online, no, it’s not “really being there”, but it’s the next best thing, and it’s all we’ve got right now
- God willing, the fatality rate will be very low

No. This is the natural consequence of human decisions, human behavior, and human values. Humans decided years ago that finding a coronavirus vaccine was NOT PROFITABLE. Little pieces of paper we make and call money were considered more important than saving lives. God is not punishing us. We are punishing ourselves.
