My question is have you ever used bleach.

Bleach was never mentioned during the press conference except by the medical team that it could be used an a cleaning agent to clean only non porous surfaces. Trump was not referencing that.

Trump’s comment came after alcohol was mentioned that it could eliminate the virus in seconds. And not really in reference to alcohol either. It was mentioned in regard to light and heat also being effective. He made the comment including light and heat and immediately turned to his medical staff for comments.

You really need to watch the whole press conference. I listen daily to Governor Cuomo daily and today he said that NY would not come out of lock down like the other states which I think is a good move for NE.

Why his supporters accept this is beyond me.
Because they have to. To admit that the President talks a lot of nonsense is to admit that backing him was nonsensical. This isn’t really about Trump, this about the ego of his supporters.

This is his comment:

"Supposing we hit the body with a tremendous, whether it’s ultraviolet or just very powerful light, and I think you said that hasn’t been checked but you’re going to test it.

And then I said, supposing you brought the light inside the body, which you can do either through the skin or in some other way, and I think you said you’re going to test that too. Sounds interesting

And then I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute, one minute, and is there a way we can do something like that? Like injection inside or almost a cleaning because, you see, it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number in the lungs, so it’d be interesting to check that."

In one way it’s actually hard to parse. The most literal meaning seems to suggest that people do something that is in fact very dangerous, but Trump’s statements, either intentionally or because he really is just rambling, leave room for interpretation. But that he so often waxes incoherent isn’t a defense, it just indicates a serious underlying problem; he likes to talk, even when he can’t even make a coherent point.

Yes he said it and I thought it a bit much but then he immediately turned to his medical staff that answered back to his thoughts. Dr. Birk took up the issue of temperature, fever.

light and heat also being
Yes. Heat kills germs on surfaces. The heat necessary to kill germs will scald and burn us, possibly fatally if it’s prolonged.

Think about that. Imagine burning your cold? Could that work?

His suggestions don’t make sense. There is a national crisis and he’s spouting silly remedies.

It doesn’t need defense.

He never made those suggestion to the public. He was looking at the medical people and asking them about research that they would be doing.

I don’t think he said “inject” once, fake news.
“By injection inside” 2:09 in the video. Sorry, not fake news unless you want to quibble about the difference between “inject” and “by injecting”.

Are people that stupid? I watched the dialogue and until the press brought it up never would have even thought about the comment.
There must be some reason that Lysol said this:

“As a global leader in health and hygiene products, we must be clear that under no circumstance should our disinfectant products be administered into the human body (through injection, ingestion or any other route),” a spokesperson for Reckitt Benckiser, the United Kingdom-based owner of Lysol, said in a statement to NBC News.

“As with all products, our disinfectant and hygiene products should only be used as intended and in line with usage guidelines. Please read the label and safety information,” the statement continued, adding that the company believes it has a “responsibility in providing consumers with access to accurate, up-to-date information as advised by leading public health experts.”

It wasn’t a “bit much”. It was an utterly idiotic and irresponsible statement. That he says something incredibly stupid, but the caveat is that he forces his own medical experts to clarify or correct does not mitigate the utter stupidity of what he was suggesting.

If Trump wants to help himself, he should really just stop talking. When I watch the politicians in my locale give updates, they leave it entirely to their medical experts to discuss specific medical issues, and the politician’s job is to talk about specific government responses. That’s a politician’s job. In a war, it’s a bad leader who makes specific battle plans; that’s what generals are for, and in a pandemic, it’s a bad leader who pretends that he has any capacity to make health declarations.

There must be some reason that Lysol said this:
Yes because a few do stupid things. I said few. These people hear probably from news sources as I doubt they watch whole news conferences to try to listen to what the Governors or President is saying.

Don’t worry. This thread will soon be full of posts from the True Believers explaining how we’re buying into Democrat lies… and what a stable genius the President is.

I live in the NE and I want to hear what is going on. He needs to continue his press conference as well as Governor Cuomo.

I agree that this comment was not needed. He does a good job of bringing in medical information.

I saw the video. I listened to his words. That you can still defend what he says is baffling. Your apologetic of his comments doesn’t make it sound much better… suggesting doctors look into injecting patients with disinfectant is beyond ignorant… my four year old would know better. It would be nice just once to see a Trump supporter say “yeah, what he said was wrong or stupid.” There’s not a politician on the planet above my criticism… can’t imagine this level of devotion to a politician…

Correct. He did not suggest this. The problem is his very understanding of disease is extremely ignorant. The danger is that he does not mind speculating, at a briefing where he is supposed to be leading the country, from ignorance.

There is nothing wrong with being ignorant of something. Few people are truly knowledgeable of most subjects. However, all of us, most especially those who will lead, need enough humility to accept our ignorance and not to try and bluster our way through. As the President is known for firing those who do not follow his every suggestion, this was a dangerous statement.
